  1. The HWY 805 corridor has been one of my playgrounds for about 25 years, Lake Manitou has no Walleye to offer and especially not MUSKIES !... Expect Lakers and OOS Smallmouth ...

You now have a choice... you can go back south on Hwy 805 and fish Grassy that has a healthy Pike population, Tee and Silver Lakes have Walleye..

you may also go north on Hwy 805 and fish Emerald Lk for more Lakers, you may continue on to a stretch of the Sturgeon River that has countless Walleye and Sauger holes.

Take the Obabika (technically no legal access route into Obabika , massive Pike, Lakers closed indefinitely) fork and this will take you passed Greenrod (Pike & Perch ), the road REALLY gets rough from here , 4x4 with clearance or ATV you can go in with 2WD P/U but that's asking for trouble .

From here you have a choice of many lakes ,Rachel( Lakers & Smallies ), Secret(Pike Perch,Smallies),Lower Bass(Smallies & Lakers).....

The road into Gull Lk is INSANELY rough... there is the Lower Bass / Gull Lk fork ( Google Maps will show you a detailed map ), the lakes I've listed above are not on Gull Lk Rd, but up to the LB fork and beyond to LB.

    These are.

Cummings (Lakers and Smallies ) don't waste your time , Gull ( Trophy Walleye ,Lakers, Smallies, Whitefish, Cisco, Sucker and the elusive Speck , I dare you to catch one), RedBark (Specks) , Longbow (Walleye), Hebert (Specks).

And at the very end of the road Lake Temagami it's like a really big version of Gull, you may have heard of it. :whistling:

The HWY 805 corridor offers fantastic fishing and sightseeing , the list I gave you only scratches the surface..

But as for making it up from TO in 4 hours NOPE! try a little more than 5 and a bit..Manitou is an hour away from my place and I can't make it to Aurora in 3.

If you want more specifics send me a PM... Have a good time , just might see you there.

  2. I remember reading somewhere that the corrosion is " Princecraft" problem ... On certain models they used the boat itself as a negative ground straight from the battery , this is what causes the corrosion , and if I remember correctly, there is still a recall on affected crafts.... This boat might be one of them ?

  3. An automotive legend , icon , innovator , ambassador , hero has passed away.....

I don't care who you are or what camp you cheer for , at some point in your life , you've wanted one of his cars .

NOBODY will ever compare to him.

    He was 89.

    Benedryl , Tylenol , immodium ,

If you're going up 400N / 11N pop into the Concorde candle factory and pick up a tray of fire starter 2$ can't go wrong ....pack whatever you can in XXL Ziplok bags .... Don't forget a WHISTLE.

Don't forget to pack some common sense , leave the weekend warrior risk taking mentality at home ..

  5. ERC have been on the market for more than 60 years , at one time they were banned because of fire ( they were electric at the time ), my sister still has my Dads 1961 Thunderbird that has an original ERC unit the car is still rust free and will be forever .

I'm a strong believer in ERC ... My 76 F150 had one , I bought it in 1996 totally rust free, never oiled ... I removed the unit to add a second battery , never put it back on... My truck rusted out in 2001.... My 2007 Mazda 6 has one , it's also rust free ... My 2000 Expedition on the other hand has been Krowned ... There is no rust on the underside or door bottoms .... But there's rust on other parts of the body.... Undercoating does not protect the whole vehicle , just the treated areas , while the ERC protects the whole thing , from the wiper arms to your trailer ball .

  6. Straight from the page.

    Q. I operate a boat for work purposes. Do I need the Card?

    A. No. A Pleasure Craft Operator Card is only required by operators of watercraft being used for recreational purposes. It is common however for many commercial establishments (such as marinas, and fishing & hunting lodges)to ask their staff to obtain their Pleasure Craft Operator Card.

Nothing mentioned about a different lisense required ? Must be on the employers side of things .... Maybe the guide himself ?

  7. I have the same ones ....I used SEAFOAM on a rag an cleaned it out worked wonders .... but unlike the wonders it does to engines and fuel systems it didn't last .... WD-40 works well too ....

The other posts are right , even dust will make 'er stick .... Very problematic , bad design I guess.

  8. Red Cedar will not disappoint , classic Walleye patterns work well , Pike are in their common places and BIG ones too... You may even be lucky enough to catch the rarest fish in the Red , a Laker ! I've heard of 2 and seen one caught from the lake ....

Don't go around expecting not to hit anything with the boat .... as much as you've been cautioned about obstacles on Wick , Red Cedar is just as bad if not worse than Wick... get a hydro map and study it well .... ( it's actually the Temagami River )

You would be about 15 minutes away from your familiar haunts .
