  1. I think it has more to do with neighbours to the park fed up with cityiots leaving a mess and parking where ever they damn well please.... Innisfil has to make the money up somewhere to pay for the clean up and to shut people up...

I have parked in the winter... Never in the summer and the place is a zoo full of slobs.

x2. It's not just that lot either and certainly the reason why most of the side streets are now no parking zones up there.

  2. I've had the granite stuff on my stairs for 4-5 years now I'm guessing (they were previously painted) and still looks as good as when I did it. No issues with this product at all, just have to apply a sealer coat every couple of years. I throw rock salt on them in the winter too and have held up very well. A buddy went the route putting stone over the concert and it's just a mess now. Water must have gotten under the stones and froze, expanded and popped them free. I've seen it with tiles as well and I wouldn't go that route myself. That acid staining looks cool though. A neighbour used this company and the product has held up well and looks good too.

  3. The washing machine had stopped doing the high speed spin at the end of the wash earlier this week. I had forgotten about it until I was reminded last night. Well best to keep Mom happy with mother's day coming up so I passed on the opener today to see if I could get it sorted out. I couple of hours of web searching, running a diagnostic test on the machine and it appeared to be the door latch assembly.

So I travelled up to Oshawa Appliance Parts and figured I'd just buy the assembly. After chatting with the owner about the problem he says it could be a couple of things but most likely some wax switch on the door latch assembly. Explained how it worked and why it might have failed and says, we fix them. Really I thought? Who fixes anything in this disposable society that we have become now a days? Bring the part in and I'll test it to make sure it is the problem.

Home I go and my earlier research had been helpful in how to take the rubber seal off the front end loader to get the latch assembly out. I couldn't believe how easy it was to do. Back to the shop and have it tested. Yep it's bad he says but I don't have the part in stock but should have it by Wednesday. I'm happy with that when his wife says she is pretty sure there was one in the shop. Off she goes and through the maze and finds the part I need. A few minutes later, the latch is repaired and tested at a fraction of the cost.

Get home and put everything back together and vola! Good as new!!

So for the great service I figured they more than deserved a shout out here. For your appliance repair needs in Durham region, be sure to consider Oshawa Appliance Parts, fantastic people to deal with. Gotta love the mom and pop shops!!

  4. Shhhhhhhh..... trying to keep the 50 thing a secret.....LOL! Thanks everyone! A fun day on the water is what the doctor ordered. It was to be Lake O but with the winds in the forecast we headed to the Kawarthas for some pike. Found some sweet water with warmer temps and a couple of fish made their way to the boat along with a few swing and misses. Not a bad way to spend the day at all. Didn't even see another boat! Don't think I've ever had a day like that in the Kawarthas. Great having you along for the maiden voyage Cliff!

  5. Over time it had become obvious to me that I spent far more time on big water than the northern lakes. Not that I don't enjoy those -but both E and O are only 60 minutes away - and with no Toronto traffic between me and these launches its really a no brainer.

I can totally relate to this. I'm not traveling north of the 401 much at all these days if the weather allows. Congrats on the new ride and successful maiden voyage. Sweet ride!!

  6. Well that sucks but it's got to go. I know with my built in tank when I've drained it, I just disconnect the fuel line from the engine. Then give the primer bulb a few pumps (acts as the siphon) and the fuel starts flowing. the tank is pretty much dry when the fuel stops flowing. I should also say that I don't have a connector to the engine, fuel line just gets clamped on. If you have a connector, remove it and you should be good to go.

  7. My old trolling motor was held on by Well Nuts for 10 years and never a problem, came that way from the dealer. When I mounted the new motor on I was concerned about how strong they where and if they would hold up to the additional torque of the new motor. (54 pounds to 70 pounds of thrust) I had the room and access to used bolts.

Just found this via Google - A #10 well nut in 3/8"" thick sheet is 260lbs of strength. A #10 Jack Nut in 3/16" sheet is 640 lbs strength, might be worth looking into these as an option.
