their showroom is on Steeles.... more radios then you can shake a stick at!

    Gerritt.

Good prices as well. They seemed to be my go to place for electronic devices. I've bought my GPS, a fishfinder and my VHF radio from them as they had the best prices everytime I was shopping. I've got a Uniden VHF handheld (I think it's this model) and so for so good but haven't used it that much. I did also take the course and got my licence this spring. I'd consider a unit with the DSC system on it as well and hook it up with your gps if you have one on board as Mr JR suggested. For bang for your dollar you might be better with a fixed mount if you have the room for it.

  2. It's nice to hear from you to Will - I've been meaning to message you but it's been crazy. I had to buy satellite internet which costs a FORTUNE and took forever to have set up. And you weren't kidding when you told me how much work my new job was going to be..... We've been super busy the past month and a half, in-fact with Dave being so busy with tournaments and other projects we haven't had much time for "fun fishing". Dave posts all his shots on his website, but I don't have any shots really worth bragging about. <_<

    Don't worry though, once I do - I'll post'em for you guys!

I might be in TO this week, if so I'll try to pop by!

    Cheers,

    Ryan

No worries about a message to me, you've got enough on your hands right now. If you do get a chance to come by that would be great. I hope to see ya!

  3. It sure is great to hear from you. Your bro is keeping me posted from time to time and I've been hearing some good things about you. Good looking boat, my buddy has one just like it and loves fishing from it. Great report BTW and thanks for sharing. :thumbsup_anim: Now as Snag said......

However, I'm sure you have some more photos from your work over the summer that would make us drool.

    Bring them on!!!!!

  4. Very good point

Even the crackable chemical lights are great dont need batteries just tie it off on the life jacket somewhere

Strobes are very effective and can be seen from a very great distance

    Thanks for posting this

    Peter

Great point Peter. Those crackable chemical lights are pretty inexpensive. I've got whistles on my lifejackets and will be adding those lights as well. A couple of dollars to possibly save someones life, good deal.

    Great post Cliff!

Edit - My lifejackets have reflective patches which would help if a light was to hit you. Having a light to start which my get you out of the water faster. imo.

  5. I made my own as well on my old tinny too. At the time I found it difficult to find anything panels in my area. Instead of a flat panel like Misfish I had a bit of a box around the switches to keep the rain off of them. One of my buddies built his switches into an old VHS case. The bottom was mounted like Misfish's and the lid hung down to keep the water out. Both of our switches were not water proof/resistant so we felt this was necessary but maybe it wasn't. :dunno: Never had any problems with them.

If I was doing it over I buy a panel with circuit breakers built in. I'm not sure if one brand is any better then the next but hopefully some here can help you with that.

THIS might be of some help. They have a couple of locations in the GTA. The one in Oakville might work for you. I've found the one in downtown T.O. to be good but pricey.

  6. I have an old Humminbird that was great in it's day but the transducer died for the second time and I won't be replacing it. On our fly in earlier this year I borrowed my brother's Cuda and it worked great! It's less then half the weight of my old unit and the AA batteries lasted the entire trip. It's on my Christmas list for this year. :santa:

Edit - I should mention that I used a piece of wood and mounted the transducer to that. Then used a C clamp to hold it on the transom. Worked like a charm and didn't cost me anything as I had the materials around.
