  1. We're back from Floodwood and what a great trip! :thumbsup_anim: Fishing was slow but when you go from +35 down to -1 and you have a mayfly hatch going on what can you expect. We did get fish everytime we went out and I've got a few good stories to tell that just made the trip. I'm just waiting on a few pics to finish off the report and should have it up soon. Great to see that everyone had a great time a Lakair. It looks like we'll be flying in earlier next year so I should see you at Lakair in 2008. In the meantime here's a pic of the cow moose and here twin calves that we saw while we were there.

  2. Tackle - check. Clothing - check. Food - check. Beer - ooops still have to buy beer. LOL! Well there are still a few other things to get organized besides the beer but I'm almost ready. We will be leaving at 2am Friday morning and driving to Cochrane. From there we will be flying into Floodwood Lake for some walleye and pike fishing until Tuesday. With all the great reports coming in from the area we are bound to have a great time. A buddy of mine was in at the same lake a few weeks ago and they had over 800 walleye between 4 guys during their stay. As well as a few accidental pike and a couple of whitefish while fishing for the eyes.

Watch out for the report next week. For those going to Lakair - have a FANTASTIC time and be safe! :Gonefishing:

  3. I should tell you the story of my ex-brother-in-law and the snapping turtle. Similar situation with the turtle in the middle of the road. He stopped, got out and gave it a nudge in the butt with his foot. The turtle was faster then anyone could imagine! It somehow had enough speed to jump around and bite down on his foot! :w00t: He gave his foot a shake and it did let go with just a bit of torn skin. He was wearing running shoes which was a good thing.

Seeing you with the sandles on I cannot imagine what kind of damage may have been done if he had been wearing similar foot wear. Good thing no one was harmed in the making of this report! ;) Nice shots and a good read, made me laugh and brought back some good memories. Unfortuneately my ex-brother-in-law passed away while my ex and I were still together at the very young age of 28 of heart failure. Still think of him quite often and reading your report has done it again. Tthanks for sharing. ;):)

  4. Well after weeks of hearing you talk about it it's nice to see she said yes. :thumbsup_anim: We miss ya here at the shop, well not really but it seemed like the right thing to say. :P:D LOL! It looks like the new job is going well and yes I'm jealous. Thanks for the up date and keep us posted as much as you can. And when your not too busy fishing all those exotic places, give me a shout and we'll see if we can't go out and get a few. Thanks for the post and great pics!

  5. I have two cars...

17 year old Corolla with 380,000 kms on it. Only major things replaced are radiator, starter, alternator and wiper motor. Just get regular maintenance stuff....brakes, muffler, oil changes etc. Still costs 30 buck to fill and gets 400km per tank. Oh yeah...the air cond is broken...and I wont pay the 800 bucks to get it upgraded to the new systems...haha. Best thing...it's paid off...LOL.

1998 Honda CRV with 230,000 kms on it. Regular maintenance stuff. Had to fix the air conditioning and fuel pump (warranty). Original brakes lasted 180,000kms. Still driving with the original exhaust system...including the muffler! Other than that it's been a dream. Will be paid off in 3 months.

Along the way I've had a Cavalier - lasted 4 years before the transmission went. Also had a Mercury Lynx....lasted 5 years before cracked manifold and gasket replacement.

I'll never buy domestic again...unless I have no choice.

A guy I work with has an old Tercel ('98). Just under 200K and put a timing belt on it (part of the maintanence schedule), brakes and tires. That's been it. He's a happy guy. I'd love to find a way to tow my boat with one of those. :)

  6. Well that just sucks! I'll see what my buddy has to say when I'm talking with him later. (GM Mechanic for over 20 years) I've been thinking about Toyota as well, presently a GM guy. I did hear the other day that the new Toyota motors are having cam shafts cracking on them. :w00t: No problem because you'll get a brand new motor installed. Just a problem you want when you're towing to your favourite lake. I think I'll wait for a couple of years to get the bugs worked out on that one.

My buddy just called oddly enough. What type of vehicle? Which motor? First impressions are to change the fuel filter. Engine might be starving for fuel at the higher speeds and causing a misfire. This would then bring on the service engine light. He is puzzled why you can't get a code off of the reader as well. :dunno:

  7. "Cumberbun" is an excellent storage device Terry! LOL

    HH

I guess you could hang some baits off of it. Maybe bettter for putting some plastics and worms. Thoses hooks might hanging a bit too low and could cause damage where you don't want it, if you know what I mean. :whistling::w00t:
