Beef Kurtains Posted September 30 Report Posted September 30 Boating Safety Reminder – Serious Incident in Port Loring On Saturday, September 27, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., my two brothers and I were fishing on Wilson Lake in Port Loring, Ontario. It was the final evening of our week-long trip, and we were fishing using the electric motor making passes over the northwest shoal. Without warning, an older cedar-strip boat approached at full speed. The bow of the vessel was lifted so high that we could not see the operator, only two passengers facing backward. As the boat closed in—despite our shouts and signals—it continued directly toward us. At that moment I felt "this was going to be the way I die." At the last moment, the vessel veered slightly but still struck the back corner of our boat with tremendous force. The impact caused it to ride up and over our boat, colliding with my brother and knocking both of us to the deck. My older brother required hospital care in North Bay, and I sustained wrist and back injuries. Beyond the physical harm, all of us experienced shock and fear from how close this came to being a fatal accident. We reported the collision to the OPP in Parry Sound. While we understand the other operator was found at fault, we are not aware of whether charges have been laid. Our family has been coming to Port Loring for 46 years, and never have we witnessed or heard of such reckless conduct on the water. This incident has left us shaken and deeply concerned about boating safety. Please, if you operate a boat, do so responsibly. Always keep your eyes forward, remain aware of your surroundings, and put the safety of others first. Negligence on the water can have devastating consequences.
