redfisher Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 History of the CFGA! Chelmsford Fish & Game Association The Chelmsford Fish and Game Association is a registered non-profit organization and has been incorporated since November 22, 1965. We receive NO funding from Municipal, Provincial or Federal Governments. What keep us going are membership renewals, and funds generated from our events. The CFGA is involved in many community-oriented events, such as our Annual Ice Fishing Derby and our Summer Pike Classic Tournament. These events keep the community active both winter and summer. Our mandate is to carry on the sport of fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities; and to maintain ponds and fishing streams for the purpose of the Corporation. For the past twenty-two years, the Chelmsford Fish and Game Association focused its efforts on Walleye culture and restocking of local lakes and streams. AGENDA OF THE UWC (UNITED WALLEYE CLUB) To maximize the walleye fishing potential in the great lakes watershed. We strive to accomplish this through the sharing of walleye culture knowledge and the education of the present and future generations. Dear Members, All is well with the Chelmsford fish and Game Association. The year 2006 showed much improvement to our property. The club has purchased a top of the line sound and video system. This system has and will continue to assist us at all of our events. Our extended parking lot has been resurfaced with gravel and looks very good. It sure helps to accommodate all the vehicle parking of our big tournaments. The inside of the Hatchery has been given a facelift and is a pleasure to work in and to welcome visitors. Dredging of the small boat launch is complete and will ease the launching for those that have not mastered backing trailers long distances. Both of the walleye ponds have been dredged and are now clean and deeper. Hopefully this increased volume will allow the fingerlings a longer and healthier stay in the ponds. There is only one BIG problem we are encountering, volunteers… we need more volunteers. There are so many jobs that must be taken care of; we need the physical support of our members. There is too much pressure put on the executive to get these jobs done. Sub-Committees must be formed to help. Here are some of the jobs that need attention · Cleanup of property after ice off · Installation and removal of docks · Start up of hatchery/ponds · Gathering of walleye culture · Operation of hatchery and ponds · Tournament and derby/ set up and tear down · Membership drive If you feel you can assist in any of these tasks please contact us and we will form comities. What’s happened at our property in 2006? · In the early fall heavy equipment was brought in and the excavation of the two walleye ponds took place. The bottoms of the ponds were dredged and the sides elevated. · The smaller boat launch was dredged to facilitate the launching of bigger boats during our tournament. · The old and new parking lot was resurfaced with fresh gravel. · The inside of the hatchery was remodeled. 2007 Projects! · We will be looking at the acquisition of a large tent to hold our events · We purchased a vehicle to remove snow · Apply for a grant to landscape our pond walkway. This will allow access to the disable and facilitate our operations · Our advertising campaign will begin now, if you know of any one that is in business please ask them to support our campaign by purchasing an ad in the TOURNAMENT ANGLER MAGAZINE. With your 2006 membership renewal, you are in title the use of our property to access Vermillion Lake year round; this includes free parking and an excellent boat launch.
