justin-salmon Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Hi i was just at the store and i saw bait for trout. Just wondering if anyone has used it and if so is it anything good? Thanks PS. im new with salmon fishing so im learning haha
solopaddler Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 They work excellently especially in estuary situations. (As do foam ear plugs and cigarette butts) (Terribly sorry couldn't resist )
justin-salmon Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 thanks just wondering just saw it beside the eggs. I dont like asking the ones working there cause they will always say it works and get it.
solopaddler Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 That wasn't a real answer I was being a smart . I'm sure they do work especially when drifting faster runs in off coloured water. Also in harbour mouths still fished on the bottom.... That said I've never used them and likely never will (there are better baits out there for fishing those situations).
ball9320 Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 I dont know if its steelhead or salmon your after, but if your gonna be using artificial bait I would reccomend Berkley Gulp 2.5 inch floating worms in bubble gum colour. There no secret, but when the bite is off on roe, and around this time of year, they can be dynamite. Just make sure you rig your splitshot properly as you would with anything floating, Mike's Mallows included.
