One thing that helps me get pike is to use the biggest lures you have and then work your way smaller if you don't get a follow or strike. I love spinnerbait fishing for pike, however spoons in hammered silver/gold like williams wabblers produce pike like crazy.

My buddy caught this big sucker out of Lake George around ice out. Anyone know what kind of fish it is, as far as I know white suckers don't grow anywhere near that big so is it a hybrid or something? Thanks in advance.

As the good Dr. said, the atlantics are there right now. Pinks, Chinooks and Cohos aka Pacifics come mid to late august, still a few weeks off. I hate buzz bombs and use the little cleo approach. As for steelhead, if you have chest waders, you're gonna want to hit the rapids on whitefish island. Drifting roe is far better than bottom bouncing from what i've seen and heard. I plan on spending the fall and winter trying out my new steelhead gear in the rapids.

Spent a beautiful rainy night on my favorite tail off 9pm-11pm fishing from shore on the St. Mary's. Got a nice atlantic near late dusk on a wally diver Then a fiesty 19 inch eye. Here is my artsy memory of the night.

Our river is a severely underrated walleye river.

I'm from Sault ste marie as well. The best place I know for whitefish is off the western pier on whitefish island. Teardrops, teardrops tipped with waxworm and small rapala minnow jigs in white/green have brought me success during the summer. I've never caught a steelhead on purpose so I can't really help you there. Tight lines.

It was a pretty good salmon run. I caught almost all my salmon this summer on Green/Chartreuse 3 1/2 Inch Buzzbombs. The new board looks really great by the way. Happy Holidays to everyone.
