  1. A friend who works at a marina told me that the max hp rating on boats is for the US only and does not apply to Canada. therefore u can put almost any size motor on the boat and it wont affect insurance meaning the boat will have no problem being insured. The reason i brought this up with him is im thinking of putting a 75 hp motor but noticed the 90 hp are the exact same weight so why not go with a little more power. any thoughts??
  2. Tons of opportunities to fish the area for salmon and trout. i know the area rivers very well and have been riggin the area for past 10 years. message me and ill fill u in with necessary details. where u fishing out of? maybe we can trade info as i dont know much about pike/bass in the area. krawler
  3. NArrowed down my search to a lund classic or alaskan Side console. i was convinced on tiller for a while but recently decided on console due to the many postings and a lot of thought. Last boat i had was a Sylvan Sea Monster 1994 and it too had a side console. When i drove that boat the whole boat would tip on its side and id have to lean over or put some stuff on the port side to balance the weight. Havnt been in a new boat but is still like this or are newer boats more balanced. I weigh a healthy 240lbs. any thoughts?? thanks
  4. Thanks for all the responses ... im currently searching all the above mentioned sites. Basically looking for a 2006 model, boat only, aluminum fishing boat. something along the lines of a lund alaskan or classic tiller models. also looking at alumacraft and lowe. ideally would like it by summer. searching marinas around ontario as well for great deals. once again thanks for the tips and if anyone can add any advice it would be much appreciated!!!
  5. In the market for a boat and have heard about many people buying there boats in the states becuase of the better deals and ease of bringing it across the border. I dont want to travel far so ideally Ohio, PA, NY and MI would be prefferred states to shop and buy. Where and how do i find these deals? Has anyone searched and bought a boat stateside that may offer help in searching for a deal. Ive begun searching online but not coming up with any good deals by simply googling "boat for sale Ohio" or something along those lines. any help and additional tips for buying a boat in the states would be appreciated. thanks

  8. I know the more popular ice fishing lakes and areas such as simcoe and scugog, quinte but i would also like to fish some places other than the popular ones. I have a cottage in midland and have fished midland bay and penetang. So ideally something close to the cottage or at least an hour drive would be nice. I dont care what im catching just some diff scenery would be nice. Im willing to trade location for location as i have a few tips and tricks i can share. please pm. thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Anyone have ice conditions for this area. Willbe up this weekend and hope things will be solid by then. thanks
  10. Looking at both models in a tiller. very similar. almost the same price. will order with vinyl only, no carpet. Any opinions on either of the boats?? both are very appealing to me. thanks
  11. This years show is great lots to see and do and lots of boats really got me in the spirit of boating BUT i have a complaint about the all the aluminum fishing boats displayed there. Every manufaturer seemed to dsiplay there cadillac of fishing boats. Very few had on display there basic models and very few tiller models and when i asked about them they said they decided not to bring them but can be viewed at the dealer showroom. I came to the boat show to see all the models cause i cant go and visit all dealer showrooms. So the boats that i wanted to look at i wasnt able to which makes my buying experience frustrating. maybe the sportsmen show will have better displays.
  12. Great forum thanks ... anyone else want to try and answer my q's?? kris
  13. I think i understand the concept of deadrise but im looking at 2 fishing boats at the show andthey have different deadrise numbers. one has a 8 degree deadrise and the other has a 12 degree. From what i understand the 12 degree will run slower but be more stable and the 8 degree will be faster and less stable ... right???? is this a big difference between the two?? anyone know of any boating forums i can ask these questions. this is a fishing forum and i have a ton of boating related questions and i dont think i should be asking these questions here. thanks kris
  14. Looking for a cell phone that has great reception. id like to use it on a daily basis but be able to count on it in case im stuck in the middle of a lake. i fish gbay a lot and often go for long runs into the middle of the bay after summer kings and bows. the storms can pick up really fast plus my boat is getting old so just in case my radio fails id like to be able to contact someone if need be. Im with Rogers and would like to stick with Rogers so a phone associated with rogers would be great. so anyone out there that swears by there phone reception, id like to hear what model you have. thanks
  15. With all this warm weather and no ice ive been thinking more and more as to which aluminum boat to buy. I will be visiting the boat show but would like some of your opinions first. Ideally i want a welded hull but the price is a bit steep for me. It will be a tiller model, 16-17 ft, 50-75hp, wide beam and deep V hull for stability in rough conditions, preferrably flat bottom floor (carpet optional). Any thoughts/recommendations? Ideally i want a Stanley but the price may be too high. thanks
  16. Im thinking of ordering some equipment from the states but am aware that depending what company they ship with, will ultimately affect the cost of shipping and subsequent charges when u receive the package (forgot the name of the xtra fee). The company im buying some equipment from only ships with UPS. How much xtra fees will i have to pay?? I hear USPS is the cheapest. Any thoughts???? P.S. i dont know anybody stateside so shipping and picking it up is not an option thanks
