  1. I replaced mine a couple of years ago.  I was able to get a custom axel from Cerka in Milton for less than Princess auto charges for their axels.  If you're further east, there is a place on the south end of 35/115 (Easton's?) that has a good reputation.

One final comment. This unit is a whine to get back into horizontal position. At least for someone in their 70's. Any Ix5 users out there experience this?

It's not has convenient as the old cable drives with a pull rope (Well, until the rope breaks).  But I don't find it to be too much of an issue.  Perhaps using a rope with a loop on the end will help lift it.

My buddy has an IX5 and it definitely doesn't need to be deployed to work.  We had to change out the batteries the other day and when the new ones were in, we tested it with the motor up on the deck.  It looked like you could lose a finger if you weren't careful.  Good luck bigcreekdad.  It will be a sweet unit once you get it sorted out.

Mine does.  Perhaps it depends on the year.

Just picked up a very nice looking Crestliner Pro 1650 Tiller on Friday. Towed up to my cabin today, and I'm loading it with my gear. Decided to check the trolling motor and get nothing. It's a Motor Guide IX5 with GPS control. Wiring to battery looks good, battery is fully charged, but nothing. There are 4 indicator lights on the motor which should have lit ups when it has juice.

Of course, the dealer is 3 hours away, and was of no help over the phone (understandably with seeing everything). They had me try a couple things but nada.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

It has to be vertical to turn on.  I have an Xi5.  When I lift it out of the water, all the lights turn off.

I didn't think triploid fish farm escapees were eligible for records, wasn't a Bow caught and disqualified a few years back ?

I think the official world record bow from lake Diefenbacker is a triploid.

However, I haven't seen any evidence that this brown is a triploid.

Thank you everyone for your replies. So, the motor I was interested in has sold, so unless another one comes up, I am going to look at others.

What I did like about the chrysler motor was :

    1) it actually looks nice for an old motor

    2) It sounds very nice (in videos) compared to other motors of the same size

    3) Like Terry mentioned, it seems very powerful as well

For now, I am continuing the search and am seeing a lot of 4-6 hp motors.  A lot of Mercury, Viking, and some other brand never heard of.  Will continue to do my research.  I think  I want to keep it at a minimum hp of 6 for now, otherwise I wouldnt have bought this inflatable.  Need something to make it feel a little bigger and muscular 😁

Viking was an Eaton's brand motor.  It was probably made by OMC (Johnson/Evinrude).

Habs might be for real. Me thinks it will get ugly. Bull hit at the end.

From my understanding, in NHL history, the winner of a Habs/Leafs payoff series has always gone on to win the Stanely Cup.  We'll see if it holds this year.

Who else remembers the days when you'd pull the tubes out of the back of the TV when it stopped working and take them down to the tube tester machine at the drugstore. Plug the tubes into the machine and it would indicate it when it found the bad one.

I remember vividly back in the 50's when it was just a normal thing to do that and I'd always accompany Dad when we went to the drugstore to test them.

Yup, the good ole days weren't always so good   LOL 😁

I remember by dad doing that at Radio Shack.

How come it’s okay for people in our country to fill themselves with fast food, cigarettes and alcohol and the become overweight with cardio vascular disease or cancer?
But they deserve a bed in ICU?
At the beginning of this pandemic we should have focussed on creating a healthy lifestyle for ourselves. Instead we close the gyms, lock ourselves up and drive ourselves stir crazy.
look at the stats in the US. Lockdowns don’t work.

The U.S. resisted lock downs and had the most cases and deaths in the world; and among the worst on a per-capita basis.  I am not seeing how that proves that lock downs don't work; however, I can see it being used as a pretty strong arguement for the exact opposite.

They are doing better now that many of their people have been vaccinated.  That doesn't mean that lock downs don't work, it means that vaccines do work.

  11. Some of the comments remind me of a story in the news a few months ago.

A mother was having discipline issues with her daughter.  The daughter ended up being charged with assault when the mother took her cell phone away.  This was followed up by the daughter stealing a phone from one her classmates.  She was convicted on both accounts.

She was given the chance to avoid detention with conditions that included attending school regularly.  She failed to stick to this condition and rarely attended morning class or completed assignments.  Thus, she ended up to having serve time in a juvenile detention centre.

Do any of you remember the headline about the teenaged girl who was sent to jail for failing to complete her homework?  Yeah, that was her.
