  1.

We use to build ramps on the hills . Oh the air we caught, Not sure I would try them today, well ok,maybe one try.LOL

No idea how old you are Brian, but if your gonna do it only do it ONCE!!!

I'm 35 and grew up on a snowboard and skateboard. My kids get me to bust out the snowboard once or twice a year when we go sliding, and that old confidence comes right back.

A few tricks makes the kids happy...

    Then I can't walk for a week???

  2. Looking at the "ice gators" thread and it brings alot of excitement to me about my next pike outing on LOTW.

Pike are wicked fun through the ice, especially 35" plus.

I didn't want to derail that thread so I thought I'd ask OFC what the biggest fish they caught through the ice were?

    Bonus points for pics?

Here is a decent sturgeon incidentally caught at my Family Day walleye derby last year.

These were gnarly fights on walleye gear!!!

No measurement but definitely over 60"

I got a photo of a young fellow with a 55" sturgeon somewhere as well. Boy was he happy? I'll have to see if I can locate it.

    So, where are your pics/stories?

  3. only use it to plan trips on softwater or hardwater.

Then on hardwater to pinpoint a spot then its turned off.

Good app, it does what I want it to do.

I can also take points and transfer them to other units if needed.

I wouldn't worry about your battery. Nobody on earth is gonna leave the app running while they fish.

  4. lol the banjo minnow is a horrid looking swimbait???. Thats awesome you caught fish on it though!

At a buddies cabin I found an old pocket fisherman and laughed at the thought of trying it. Hopped in a canoe and off I went. No bites no nothing. Last time I reeled in I had a nice 13-14" walleye on and I had no clue until it was on the surface ???. Super sensitive they are not.

  5. That traverse looks like a van without the sliding doors... Another option...

I guess it'll help if u mention we have 2 kids (definitely no more in the future) and no pets (definitely none in thd future cause my son is allergic)

Also I have a truck so "stow and go" and space for a load if lumber will not sway my descision...

That being said we will consider an SUV...

We aren't gunna rush and we are gunna explore many options...

If you look at the traverse in person it looks smaller then a van. It most definitely isnt lol.

    also its a 6 speed transmission,3.6l v6, 281hp

  6. I have 6 kids Mike.

We had a 2008 caravan and added a bench seat. Good vehicle, fit us all. No complaints really but we bought it used and the under rusted badly fast.

We replaced that with a 2008 Montana. Again nice vehicle. only fit 7 though so that sucked. Used it for abit with no issues.

Then we bought a 2011 chevy traverse and it is awesome! not a mini van but worth checking out. gets good mileage, all wheel drive, tow package, and it fits all of us.

Believe it or not it has more room then a mini van. fully loaded with 8 of us in we can still load in my sons hockey gear and get a few groceries

  7.

I was skeptical at first as well, but man it works! lol!! Like you said the blood starts to pump (they turn bright red) and after about a minute back in my gloves I'm golden.

it doesnt have to be a dip in the water either.

just intentionally getting your hands cold quickly works.

i did it all the time in the oilfield too.

its funny cause your hands stay waaaay warmer waaaay longer this way.

    works with your feet too

  8. get severe frost bite on your finger tips. not enough to have them cut off, just enough to cause nerve damage j/k.

I find some gear better then others but nothing is perfect for my hands. its give and take. one thing for sure is avoid alcohol or stimulants of any kind

I find the best thing is to keep moving. Ive fished without a shack in -40's and stayed plenty warm just by moving. drill a few extra holes even.

  9. Phaneuf had a golden opportunity to do just that and turtled. Perfect opportunity to show what kind of a leader the Captain is. Or Coward?

    Ovie would wreck Phaneuf.

Sad indeed. But Phaneuf knows that too or he woulda made a point to find him later in the game.

A few big hits in that game. That hit on Panik where Panik stood him up was a HARD hit!

  11.

Why? That's precisely what Carlisle said about James Reimer recently. The kid has a pretty sharp wit as far as I'm concerned.

Sharp wit is part of why it's hilarious Mike(too bad he isn't that sharp in net?)

The other reason it's hilarious is one of the two has a stanley cup! The other is a career back up goaltender.
