I use beer
well
I dont pour it in the fish
I drink it while waiting to see if the bleeding will stop
????
-
Next up, bring $50 worth of leeches fishing with you, but not as bait...
If a fish is gill hooked add some leeches to stop the bleeding???
-
Well it says carbonated soda water.
If I was gonna do this(which im not), id just use club soda or and soda water, not coke
I dont like the idea of pouring a corrosive on a fish because its bleeding.
If its bleeding that bad ill keep it. If its not bleeding too bad get it back in the water and let nature do its thing

If your not casting harnesses your missing out on a great technique for alot of species! I catch tonnes of crappie, walleye, pike and bass casting shorelines where trolling isnt an option.
Here is what I use. The snap sinker on the right. And i make alot of my own harnesses but this brand is top notch.
I dont like the harnesses too long for casting so I usually trim them down to about 14" and retie the barrel swivel.
Also, these are deadly spinners for pike
No need for a leader, just a weight like I posted in the first pic and youll rarely get bit off

I got stuck on an island for a week without supplies.
Ill never do it again.
Crap happens, be prepared.
Glad I survived and glad I had no kids with me
And get a lifestraw. Just because your near water doesnt mean you can drink it without serious consenquences

Well I'm not an NHL GM but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night!!!
Ah into the rum?????
-
Try using single hooks with 2"power minnows for crappie, its unreal.
Id even say better then a bobber and a minnow

I've got a pork shoulder in slow cooker right now.
I like to cook it in Rickards Red beer but today it's cooking in Dr Pepper with onions, garlic & assorted spices.
When it is ready to be pulled I discard most of the Dr Pepper & add bbq sauce,My Gr Kids are going to be here later & I know they like Honey & Garlic so that's what they will get.
?
Dont discard the sauce though, keep it!!!!

Man have any of you trout fished the upper manitou in NW ontario?
Two years ago my dad and I fished there for trout and we had a wicked day. We caught 12 lakers in about 120 fow with 2 oz bucktails.
Had a quickshore lunch then decided to try for bass in the little break off shore, tiny island on the other side.
It was 40 fow but you could see everything, water soooo clear.
I cant remeber the lure i used, but the bass came in scholls chasing it from under a log. It was just fun to watch. Tiny lil bass too maybe 14"ers tough to tell. After every retrieve they would chase, then retreat back to this sunkin log
The one cast a big ol musky came chasing the school of bass and a hell broke loose.
No hookups but wow was it awesome to see that musky just go nuts chasing the bass

Awe man.
Thats nice though matt.
Bring good memories to the camp but im sure that first one will be tough.
In my family we celebrate life, not death.
Poor one out for copper and talk about the good times?

Rick the pork shoulder sounds great, sounds like alot of vinigar, does it neutralize itself out with the other ingredients, and how long in the cooker?
SAVE a couple of crab cakes lol did that recipe of yours on new years eve OMG mmmmmmmmmm
Oh and I did the pork maybe 8 hours for 6lbs. Im not sure really? I just kinda wing it
-
By the time i throw in the beef alot of the sugars and vinegar will have burned off.
Itll still give a hint of flavor but not much.

Nah man the vinegar gives it that tang. Have you ever had a nice pulled pork sandwich? That sauce gotta be tangy and sweet not savoury.
And then add some coleslaw on top, mmmmmm
This is basically a modified vwrsion of my ribs that spiel tried and liked although he modified it abit as well.
I added some beef broth after dinner and kept the sauce going, so a nice beef tip can go in tomorrow. Gotta mellow out the tangy for beef. Beef IMO calls for more savoury of a sauce. I also added about 5-6 onions
Pretty much an experiment ill let ya know how it goes.
-
If ya got a bleeding fish just get it back in the water and let it coagulate on its own.
-
Forgot to take pics?
Think ill make crab cakes tonight?

Where does one buy lidocaine? There's been a few times it would have been handy.
Any pharmacy carries it.
And another good thing to bring on a trip is codeine(although I hate saying that)
If you get stranded and sprain an ankle or break a bone it would sure help.
Also if you cant get a clean water source or suffer dehydrating diarhhea codeine will help lesson the severity
Im talking the mild stuff, tylenol 1's sold over the counter

Hammered copper is my go to.
I also like silver/pink, straight black or black and lime green
-
I hardly fish harnesses on most lakes, and its actually pretty stupid.
I dont think one rig produces better or more catches of most inland species then the harness.
I dont like trolling so thats apart of it. But once i found a way to cast harnesses i spent alot more time using them.

I watch alot of penguins games at my buddies house(his fav team) and im not gonna lie, im excited to see what Kessel does there.
If hes paired with Crosby and or Malkin its gonna be fun to watch Im pretty sure!
It would be nice to see some players get over 100 points in a season again.
-
I think everyone of us in this thread is guilty of that, lol!
Every darn one, including my hypocritical self lol
-
Nice report Simon!!!!
