If I was the bylaw officer and I got the complaint, so I had to attack a bunch of kids running a small time business for some scratch to buy bikes. I would do my JOB.... I would go right over to the DB's house or business, who called in and inspect everything they owned, rented or stood beside. I would happily write THEM up about 20 tickets for whatever they were doing AGAINST the rules. Let's face it with all the over regulation we live under now EVERYBODY is breaking some bylaws or codes these days.

 

Then I would have went told the kids sorry you can't do what you are doing in the current way you are doing. Sadly, I do have to give you this piece of paper because of the rules. Then I would tell them in my spare time after work I would be more than happy to show them how to skirt the bylaw and keep on making some money for their bikes...

 

I expect my job would be immediately terminated, but then earning a living isn't worth being forced to be such a dick anyway in my opinion. LOL

Council is not implemented by canadian government either. They are elected by memebers and are paid by honourarium.

Also, FN do not solely police themselves, MNR and OPP can easily step in without red tape.

Alot of their funding comes from "renting the land and resources of those who were here before settlements", not tax dollars.

And aboriginal governance is as transparent as can be, its all available online as ever band is audited every year. Do some research.

But here is one that I do not necessarily agree with. Some years ago my FN friend passed away. I was asked to clean his office. He had saved all documents for land claims, treaties etc.

In there I found an agreement. All FN that break Canadian laws, are to be dealt with not the same as other Canadians, but to exhuast all measures of rehab for their crimes.

Now dont get me wrong, i actually agree with this idea. But for all of canada not just FN.

Hey it's only fair that if the natives who have historical treaty rights to fish for sustenance close down their fishing then we the dilettante Johnny come lately fishing for recreation should halt our fishing as well. Might not be a popular opinion but it is only through compromise and working together with the native peoples that we are going to be able to conserve the Canadian ecology. SACRIFICES WILL HAVE TO BE MADE BY BOTH SIDES.

Oh i called the mnr last year about the giant hogweed round here. Its spreading fast and in populated areas

Queen Anne's lace, or wild carrot, only grows a couple of feet high at most. Giant hogweed grows up to 18 feet. The related and native cow parsnip, which has similar toxins but not quite as bad, grows about half that high.

 

And I should add that if you see any hogweed you should call the Ontario Invading Species Hotline at 1-800-563-7711

It gets big around here, well not giant hogweed big but it grows to about 5-6 feet.

And alot of people mistake giant hogweed for a plant I think is calles queen annes lace. Flower is similar but a different leaf

One place I fish is chock full of giant hogweed brian. Gotta tread the path carefully.

In the link someone posted stinging nettle. That craps pretty harmless. Doesnt even effect me after one sting in the past.

Now i harvest it for teas and tinctures

NFN should be developing in all avenues of community structure and that leads to jobs.

A problem ive seen too often. Start a lodge or two( and financially its easy trust me) hire some experienced anglers and some teenagers for the camps.

Train some carpenters, to help build the community. Open grocery store and gas station(if they havent already)

Offer training to become CO's.

The nore jobs available and the better the community you'll eventually kill off those abusing the fishery.

One thing again, that bothers me, if indeed these ghost nets are FNF, someone in the community has no idea what due diligence means. Out them and oust them.

They are a disgrace to nature, the creator, the lake, their elders and their respective community

Maybe sport anglers, FNF community members, lodge owners should form a group to work together???

Instead of against each other and the lake???
