Love the report, looks like you had a great time. Shame about the uncompleted project.

yeah, going to try a different place next time. I don't mind camping but really hate being eaten alive by mosquitos lol Not alot of amenities at BassHaven for campers either Yeah, these were caught in about 5-6 feet of water, wanted to go shallower, but it was just too muddy at that end of the lake still. It was very good Saturday, but the storm Saturday night mixed things up a little bit, we got the pickeral in about 5 feet of water between the steel island and the marine park channel, so not far from Bass Haven.

Well, we had been counting down the days to the Musky Opener, and it finally arrived. We decided that we would drive down to Mitchell's Bay Friday night and get a camp site. We stayed at Bass Haven, nice and close to the action, everything you could ever want for fishing. We got the boat out Friday night, didn't get much of anything, a couple OOS Bass, some small perch, a small pike. Saturday morning we were on the water by 6:45 am, we had lines wet by 7:00am. Not much happening, water was a little rough. We tried shallow to start with, but then headed out a little deeper, eventually the water calmed down enough to put a planer board out, and within minutes we had the first musky of the season, a healthy 38 We ended up getting about 4 more OOS bass, some pretty big ones to, I won't post the links, but if your computer savvy I'm sure you can figure out how to see the pics... My brother and his 3 year old came out in the afternoon, Sawyer's first time on a boat... he was pumped... Brave little pirate he was... I tried and tried of find him the perch, but no luck, I put him on a couple of rock bass, and he got a nice OOS Small mouth when his attention waned and he put his pole down for about 30 seconds... We took them back to shore, had a quick nap, and we were out again. We nailed this 42 around 8:45 That was the end of the musky for the weekend... The winds really picked up and with the thunderstorms Saturday night it was hard to find much of anything. Nicole did manage to find a few pickeral, I pretty much got skunked on sunday(well an oos bass, but that's it) And here is what happened to them

My friend invited me to his cottage this weekend... It's on Clam Lake, near Kearney, ON It's so small the lake isn't even on google maps, the road is, but not the lake lol Anyone ever fish it? He says there are no fish in the lake, but find it hard to believe. Any good musky spots near it? Say within a 20-30 minute drive? Pretty sure musky opens up there this weekend as well. Thanks!

Well, we picked a name for our boat... just had the letters made up last week. Looks okay, also had a couple of musky decals made up to cover up a big dent that was in the boat. I'm quite happy with how it turned out... and the boat name!!! Now we just need to get some more slime in it... the Musky kind lol

Burgers..... Every guy (and gal) love burgers....
Wendel replied to Burtess's topic in General Discussion
Does that burger come with heart paddles? lol We used to make those when I was in univeristy... this is the place that inspired us http://www.bubis.org/news.html Now that's a big ass burger... -
We only go the camera out once. The first fish was probably 5 pounds, he was the biggest. Got him the first cast figured he was the first of many on the day... we were wrong lol The rest were smaller, in the 2-3 pound range, didn't think they were worthy of a camera

I would be going nuts if I was waiting 6 weeks to get my boat back!!! Did you have to mail it into them or something? lol Sounds like they are so busy they can do without a regular customer, but you're right... make sure it runs I hear alot of horror stories like this, a guy I go fishing with every year, took his boat in to the shop in April last year, get's it the long weekend in May, won't start. Takes it back, get's it back the long weekend in July, won't start. Takes it back, get's it back for labour day, RAN LIKE CRAP. Took it back in wanted to go to Quinte in November... WOULDN'T START.... Do these guys even test the work they do sometimes? And man... talk about wrecking your summer... drive your boat 1600km's over the summer and only get to use it with the ELECTRIC TROLLING MOTOR... Poor Terry...

What can you jump to if you can't jump to a conclusion? lol

Exactly right. Inner Bay of longpoint to be more specific.

We hit the water around 10 am today. First cast one nice pike, looked like a good day, but wasn't that great. We ended up with 8 pike in the next 7 hours. I'm not complaining because I caught all 8, but NikkyBobby got skunked... therefore a bad day for me... I felt guilty everytime I hooked into one lol The top producers was a large spoon, silver and red. If anyone catches the pike that took it from me, please return it lol Water is starting to really warm up there. it was 63.5 degrees surface temp when we called it a day

We are taking the boat down again tomorrow, supposed to be a beautiful day, hopefully we get more pics

GSP won!

After watching the weather all week we decided to head out Saturday for some pike action in the inner bay. Nicole, my daughter Taylor and I had a great day out on the lake. We caught over 20 pike, some were big, some were not so big. Here are a few pictures. Taylor with her first fish of the season, she is quickly learning how to outfish her dad, once she get's better out casting watch out!!! Me with the First REAL fish in the new boat lol Nicole's first real fish of 08, she actually tried to hold this herself, but it was going to bite her so she dropped it and ran... well, not really, but I guess I could photoshop her in later... It was a great day out there, many more to come this season!

I'd pick George to KO Chuck Norris I just watched the fight of GSP and Matt Serra, wow... he was so focused.
-
You know it's not really FREE lol
-
You caught more then one snag!!!! You almost caught the trolling motor to! You were pretty good at driving, which will leave me more time for catching fish muahaha! Now if I can only show you how to drive with the boat behind the truck, and how to launch/load the boat onto the trailer I'll get alot more sleep on the way down to the lake as well
-
She was with me at the time.... She was the one that wanted the pretty spinner baits lol Jos gave her a lesson on spinner baits, it was quite interesting for her...
-
Actually I put it on backwards myself... I was wondering how long it would be before someone noticed lol
-
Surprisingly when you buy that much stuff they spool the lines for free lol
-
Well, maybe we will wait til next weekend.... We are both dying to get the boat out though lol
-
We are hoping to take the boat out, depends how frosty it is in the morning.
