  1. I may have observed you launching your boat at "Secret Lake". Do you drive a black, F-150?

No,not me.Nobody at this "Secret Lk" but us,I haven't seen anybody else there for a couple years.

The atv trail to the lake is getting very grown in so I know the lk is seeing very few fishermen. :thumbsup_anim:

  2. Exactly what I was thinking. Usually clear water and good fishing do not go hand in hand. The water looks beautiful!

Two different lakes, the eyes came from a lake 1/2 hr away from home.

The clear water is home, not only some cottages & homes but also a prov park.

    Sorry for the confusion.

  3. The weather here is unbelievable for Sept.

GF & I decided to give "Secret Lk" another visit before the temps dropped back to normal.

This little lake is about 1/2 hour from my place & is home to lots of smaller "eatin size" walleye.

The stringer of eyes is the result of about 45 minutes of fishing.

We were off the lake early so back home for a dip.

Just had to post so Simon knows that he isn't the only guy in the area who can catch a fish or 2

    :sarcasm:

    :D:lol:

  4. Simon, this is the main reason I learned all I could regarding rural water systems,if this guys name is Jack & also is a resident of your lake,he does great work but he ain't cheap.I found him reasonable to talk to about my bill.

I have watched him work outdoors cutting thru 2ft of ice to change a pump in the lake at -40C,nobody has enuf $$$ for me to do that.

  5. Better rethink that as most of the roads in question were built by the lumber companies so they can extract the lumber from the area. The gubberment just sold the access and timber rights to those companies.

The paper companies in this area were all paid to build those roads, the prov gov't pays so much per kilometer.

  6. As another so called "meat hunting local",I would like to add that I rarely keep my limit,I only take home what I plan to eat that day,I keep no fish in my freezer.

I mainly fish so-called remote lakes & actually have not been on MNR restricted lakes for a couple of years.

What bothers me is that MNR is telling me I cannot access a public lake on public land by a road built with public dollars.

In bussiness sometimes "it happens",the family gas station looses out when a major hwy is bypassed, the "mom & pop" stores suffer when a big chain moves into an area.

IMO this is no different than a few locals accessing a remote lake & pissing off some tourists who think they can buy exclusive rights to a public lake.

  7. I am a lifetime resident of Ontario, spent my whole life in this area & will fish where I like,it is public land & should not be limited to some elite sportsmem from another country.

The tourist industry is a shrinking industry,if the flyin operatorers suffer so be it,there are plenty of drive to resorts that are suffering as well.

The roads that are being closed were built with our tax dollars, the lakes in this area are still very hard to access,if the flyin customer is upset because a local taxpaying fisherman has worked hard to gain access to these lakes, toooo bad,he can kiss my taxpaying ass.

  8. I have been to Vegas a few times & allways stayed on the strip,Treasure Island,MGM etc.

Next time we will stay downtown in old Vegas(Freemount ST,sp?)I found that the casinos are just as good, allthough smaller I made more $$ downtown as compared to the fancy strip hotels, the food is cheaper, the booze is cheaper(BIG +).

The Golden Nugget,4 Queens & Binions are all clean modern hotels with all the ameneties you need, good rates too.

If you opt for a strip hotel take the bus downtown, you will see what I mean.

The light show on Freemount is outstanding, lots of shopping & stuff to see

You can allways take the Duece (public transit) to the strip to see how the other half lives :whistling:

    IMHO :D

Have a great trip whatever you decide :good:

  9. I dunno, Tundra sounds like a miserable place, not something I'd want to name my pet/companion.

Uh oh, just had a brainfart and remembered, you drive a Toyota, come on, got to do better than that, naming your dog after your truck.

Good thing you don't drive a Ford pick-up.

F150 would be a terrible handle for a dog. :whistling:

  10. In this neck of the woods, the bass are usually of the nest by July 1.

This guy was still guarding his nest under my boatlift on Fri,I think he was hanging around till I took his pic.

Everytime we waded in his area he would come out & give a warning tap on the ankles.

  11. Simon,those pics are awesome.

I was at GF's place in Eagle River when the storm went through,I saw those clouds & thought damn, my camera is at home.

I talked to a buddy who lives in Oxdrift today, during the storm the wind sucked a skylight right off his roof letting the water pour right in.

Glad you got the pics, you sure don't see the sky like that too often. :good:

  12. The problem is, my grandparents are going to need some serious care in the coming years (nursing home, or long term care facility...). If they sell the cottage for what it's worth, then they'll be set for the rest of their lives. If they give it to a family member, they'll be living in poor conditions, and we don't want that.

My GF works in extended care facilities,it doesn't matter how much $$$$ you got,you get the same care as seniors off the street, they just charge the folks with money a much higher amount.

  13. I went out to a smaller remote lake just past the southeast part of Eagle Lk this morning & was rewarded with a nice catch of Walleye.Water temp was 67degF.

Just wanted to let let you all know that Simon isn't the only guy who fishes up this way :whistling:

Simon, send me a PM if you want to know where this is.

  14. Hey Limey I'm working at a lodge on eagle lake..just got here 3 days ago. You should come by at some point during the season. Would be my first time fishing with an OFC'er...and it would be 1000+ kilos away from home lol

    Welcome to God's country.

Eagle is a beauiful lake & a world class fishery. You will enjoy this summer for sure.

Which lodge are you working at?
