  1. That's an old diet, Norm. My uncle was on it for the longest time then died one evening. The diet didn't kill him either. After supper he took up his normal place on the couch and when he turned around to lick his ass he fell off the couch and broke his neck.

My uncle tried it & died too,but he was laying in the driveway, licking his nuts when my aunt backed over him with her car.

  2. Simon, have you heard the ice on the "Goon" by your place "singing or groaning" as this cold weather makes more ice?

My GF's place is about 200m from Little Neck bay on Eagle Lk & I haven't heard anything this year,I know we have a very heavy snow cover, but normally this weather would make the lake "sing",esp on these very still, cold nights.

I might have spoke 1 day too soon,Eagle Lk is singing & popping this morning :thumbsup_anim:

  4. I'm thinking we won't have good ice anywhere in this neck of the woods, tooooo much sno on thin ice = lots of slush, air holes, unsafe conditions etc.Even -40 C wont make up for all that sno.

The lake in front of my place is still wide open(Blue Lk),might have good ice if it gets cold enuf before the next big sno event.

  5. Great report and pics Cliff, congrats on a nice looking largie...

    Classic middle finger pose...lol.

    Looks like fun...thanks for posting...

Perhaps we shud get together & car pool down there. We could show those guys from the south how northern fisherman catch them.

Well you could show them how to fish & I could show them how to drink. :D

    I'm just kidding,great post,THX for shareing.

  6. The lake I live on contains trout & smallmouth bass, also some very large walleye. The trout & smallmouth allways go back into the lake regardless of size, the walleye go back because we catch them so rarely that I would like to see that fishery improve.

I am very lucky to to know of a small lake that is less than 1/2 hr from home & has never let me down yet.I keep enuf(walleye) to cook up that day,I like them fresh.I never put any in the freezer.I prefer the smaller ones(under 18 in).We eat walleye about once a week.I see no point in taking home a limit everytime if it is more than needed.

  7. FLAME ON

You know ... I never fail to be amazed by the lack of insight of a few of our members ... its enough to make me ashamed to be part of the fishing community.

How anyone can defend their right to intrude upon the RIGHTS of privacy to any landowner is beyond me. We all know your neighbor HAS EVERY RIGHT to plant a lawn chair one inch off your lot line, or on a sidewalk and face it right into your living room window ... but it would be simply RUDE and inconsiderate and will guarantee a neighbor who has no respect in turn for you - so why would you think that is ok to do it from a boat.

Using the need to catch that special fish from under someone elses dock or raft as an excuse to intrude on people's pleasure and enjoymenyt is simply that - an excuse. Get a life ! Just because you cant afford to own a piece of the waterfront doesnt make it ok to ruin it for those who do.

    FLAME OFF

Be nice people - its alot more fun for everyone.

    WELL SAID!

  8. Regarding the 40% discount,I am sure there are lots of camps that will be in the same "ball park" during that time period(mid Aug/mid Sept). They are not that busy at that time & like to fill their empty cabins.Phone around if you are interested in coming up this way.

Lac Seul is another great fishery and there are lots of resorts at both ends of the lake,Sioux Lookout & Ear Fall. This a beautifull area, often overlooked by fisherman from southern Ont.

I would also like to add that I think the most reliable reveiws come from clients, not self serving resort owners. You can check out most resorts on the many fishing forums to be found on the web.The really good ones don't blow their own horns(so to speak)but let satisfied customers speak for them.

    IMHO

  9. My GF & I went to one of my favorite little lakes today.

We didn't get on the water till 12.00,& by 1.00 we were on our way back to the landing with a limit of "eatin size" walleye. In less than an hour we must have caught 30 fish.Nothing big but so much fun,I love this lake.

  10. GF & I went to a small lake today where I keep a 12ft stashed,We allways catch lots of these little pan sized fish, sometimes 1 or 2 bigger but allways get more than enough for a fish fry.In the 3 or 4 yrs I have been going to this lake we have only shared the lake about 3 times. It takes me about 1/2 hour from home, some hwy some old logging road. The lake is small so I use my electric, easy to get to the boat with my quad.
