  1. ok some time ago I saw a machine to scale fish not sure if it was in person or a vid but I remember it looked kinda like a propane tank with end cut off and grit glued to the inside walls

I also think it might have been used for potatoes also

the tank or cylinder stood up right hole in top

and not sure if it vibrated or rotated to cause the action to remove scales

anyway I'm trying to find pictures or video of the beast

  2. ok so the boat I just bought in the fall has a sofy spot I found but the out drive. I found it the day I was packing it up for the winter and moving to storage

I did not poke a ton at it yet so I'm not sure how big it is or how bad

the hul is glass this is the wood in the back and it's by the out drive. I'm looking for info or options

sucks I didn't see before and I'm real sure guy that sold it didn't either

I'm hoping its a small spot of not much concern till next fall as i would like to use it

also been looking at a epoxy that they say u can patch with

  3. well I did it I bought a different boat

its a 17.5 sea hawk 4cyl inboard bow rider I got real good deal on it and it came with a bunch of extras

like a flare gun ( do I need this for this size boat)

also last time I registered a boat I could do it at service Ontario but I thought I heard that was changing

the boat also came with manual down riggers (is there a way to modify to power)

darn I had more questions earlier guess I'm getting old

    more to come

  5. ok so Sunday I went ice fishing with a buddy. turned out to be a long day that was great but little fish.

anyway I draged home 5 perch. When I arived homethe wife was having a gathering of friends from work so i wasn't going to filet the fish

i stuck them in a bag and stuffed them in the freezer to do later

well i forgot them till today

so can I take them out thaw them filet them and refreeze them or should I filet and cook

there isn't enough for the family to have so I need to becareful of when if I need to cook right away

  6. well had some issues and they turned out soso

first issue was I couldn't get the temp up in smoker seems because the gas line was off something climbed in and campped in the fitting and plugged the line.

next I couldn't seem to get the dampners set right and I would loose my flame.

so the smoking was off and on

in the end I tossed them on the bbq

they were not the best cut of ribs either.

hope to have better luck next time

    thanks all

  7. ok so the Wife picked up some ribs and said lets smoke the for supper tomorrow

now I havn't doe a ton of this. My Brother and I built a smoker but he took over cause he knows everything.

I now have my own gas fires smoker it is a converted lay down barrel type where you would light the fire in one side then smoke traves thru and out. it has been converted to be fired on nat gas and i can hold temps as low as 150

so the ribs are on way here and when they get home I will get them in a brine

I'm looking for sugestions but here is the basic brine I will use

    1/4 cup kosher salt

    1/4 cup packed brown sugar

    4 cups water

I'm not sure what to put in there with the brine

I will be smoking over one of the below

    hickory

    cherry

    mesquite

    any ideas or pointers please

  8. there is place just before the old cut livery called Post Marine I launch there most of the time ramp is smooth 10.00 to launch

it also has a deep spot to power on to the trailer if you load that way.

Randy has always been great with me I run some old equipment and he has always helped me out if need be.

  9. ok so fish as of late has been real tough for me either things going bad on trips or no fish and sometimes both but the openner has topped it off. Here is my day

Friday I get the floors back in my boat and all my gear ready. My little girl asks me if she can go I said no wasn't prepared to take her. she was upset.

Sat morn I'm up 430 and so is my girl trying to convince me to take her . Still no .

my buddy shows up we are off. we make the launch and it's open not backed up so I back in in kind of a hurry get launchd smoothly and i park the truck

we head down the channle and there is a smaller channel that meets it. we head down because it produced last year. i put down the electric trolling motor and fish the channel. no fish and for some reason I can't cast worth poo. I finally get to the point I can cast but no fish we head out to the main channel and going to shoot for the bay.

heading out of main channel just after boathouses you power up get on plane and clear the channel. so I get to the end of boat houses I power up but no plane so as I turn to go off to the side out of the way. I hear a snap from the front of boat i notice the trolling motor hanging from the side of boat. I broke the bow mount on the place it was repaired from a previous break. So my buddy pulls it up straps it down and we are off on a plane for now.

As I'm thinking hey boat is runing well it's a nice day and gee this new inflatable lifejacket feels just like it's not even on. I look further up in boat and there is my buddy not in his jacket either then it dawns on me they are in the truck so turn around go back get the jackets and head back out.

Ok we get out to an area and toss some lures nothing. We decide to head to the area of boats. as we go we troll and getting close my lure grabs a bunch of weeds so I crank it in and proceed to beat the weeds off but some stay so i reach to clean them off as I do the tiller turns and I reach for it and my new shimano sellus rod and curado reel head off the back of the boat. We turn around and look but can't find

Then we fish somemore and move about. We hook2 or 3 but not many and decide to head to the other side of the bay about 3/4 of the way my 40hp dies and sounds way hot. I pull it up to find the intake/exaughst port spun around not allowing water in to cool. I fire up the small 9.8 motor I have hanging off the back and 2 hr later we make the launch .

in the end bass opener cost me:

a trolling motor mount (looking for good deal on one)

    shimano sellus rod

    curado reel

head gasket and temp sender (possibly a impeller) 40hp evinrude

I'm just about to the point of giving up

  10. hey there been some time since I posted.

I finally have a new daily driver it's a 1994 toyota 4 runner. This replaced a ford pickup that I use to just put rods in the box and away I went.

the 4 runner is a bit different as it is all inside I would like to not break down the rods all the time. For that matter my newest rod is one piece.

so I'm looking for ideas on how to store rods in or on the suv

I had thought about a 3" tube on roof rack but that would only hold 1 and I wasn't sure how to keep them from sliding inside.

anyway roof top or nice inside storage which ever

let me hear see your ideas
