Um .... Flat Raps have been around for at least 15 years.
they are new according to there website and I have never seen them until this spring and I always try out new rapala's when they come out.
-
Nice bucket mouths and that pond looks sweet.
-
I bought 3 when they first came out for field test reasons. I worked them hard and never had a problem with any of them.
Don't get me wrong I'm not bashin these reels they are great for the price and are even better after you remove the twitching bar I had it out in the driveway today and was flippin into the neighbors flower beds LOL.

I didn't think a Pacu had any teeth. They are veggy eaters. Are you sure it wasn't a black pirahna?
according to the university of guelph it was a black pacu and they said they will eat both plant and fish i will try to find the article from the paper and scan the pic.I don't think pirahna get that big .
I found this on a tropical aquarium fish forum " Its diet is based on fruits, vegetation and insects that fall into the water. Although peaceful, you need to be careful because it has powerful teeth that can really hurt an arm with a bite"
-
I caught a black pacu out of a pond in my home town it was around 6lbs I still have it wrapped in the freezer gonna get a replica done one of these days .there was another 1 caught the following summer a bit smaller so someone dumped 2 auqarium fish in there .I must say though these thing scrap prolly the best fighting fish I ever caught for its size just screaming the drag when it ran best part was these things are related to pirahna and I caught it on corn carp fishing my buddy screamed like a little girl when he saw the teeth and almost dropped it back into the water I still remind him of that scream once in awhile.

The Megaforce was my 1st baitcast reel. Never had any problems with it, owned it for 3yrs before selling it.
You must have got a "good" one then LOL I'm pretty sure these were just dirt or debris of some sort made it's way into the twitching bar mechanism and was binding the shaft it sits on causing it to lock down but it works way better without the bar working it was always a noisey reel from the first time I used it and it's quiet now and cast further with tighter spool tension I am using it on my frog rod for now until I can replace it with a curado or a core .

I see you and river fisher use the same approach .... I have found that with straight floro... the stretch is crazy... its tough to feel the bites, when I tie on straight braid the feel is amazing, but then in clear waters... IE lake st clair... you get less bites.
Im going to have to learn how to tie on a floro leader and try that
Just use a very small swivel it works great and with the smaller dia. braid and floro you dont have to worry about your knot cutting through itself and the swivel helps reduce line twist from your tube spinning on retreive .I use my curado 101/7'clarus medium, heavy fast action with 20lb braid and 8-10lb flouro or my GL3/sahara 3000 combo depending on what I feel like that day both spinnig or casting work equaly well just depends on what you like I like the fight better with a BC rod .

Very nice Bucket I would say 4 all day long maybe heavier if he was thick .

What do you have to do to be an approved angler?
A insane amount of volenteer work I believe these guys earn these permits by giving back to the sport they love. One of the CRAA guys will know exactly how many hours it take but I know its a lot.

Trolling for monster Erie pike at the bar some big girls out there in october.

Well after our second place finish at Mitchells Bay I had lower expectations for the St Clair river as I have heard its a tough fishery and Smallies aren't my 1st choice to target, I prefer to fish buckets but smallies are fun .To say the river reports that I had heard were bang on would be a understatement . my partner Jared put us on fish in several diferent spots he managed to put a smally and a Largie in the well but I couldn't get a fish to save my life I threw every peice of smally hardware I had at them from tubes to cranks deep and shallow, spinnerbaits and dropshot nothing would work for me it's been awhile since I was totally skunked and it sucked I can't wait for Rondeau bay in a couple weeks to hunt buckets in the thick stuff .I figured sonce I posted my good results I should give a report even though I sucked LOL I guess thats why it's called fishin not catchin.

Hey Fisher people I bought 1 of these megaforce reels and for $69 for a decent quality baitcaster I thought it was a good deal until after less than 1 full season later the twichin bar seized right up reel wouldn't do anything so I figured since I used this bar mabye once for 30 seconds I would just see if I could disable or remove it .Well it took me mabye 20 mins to pull it apart and yank the gear for the twichin bar and re-assemble the reel works perfectly without the gear for the bar and the trigger for it stays out of the way . just thought I would share this incase others have these reels and don't want the hassle of sending it away for repair I know 2 guys that have seized reels that I will prolly fix for them.Hope this helps someone out.BTW I bought this reel for a spare and ended up using it a lot.

Lots of people caught their personal best largies in that lake! I've got to get me a good scale! How'd you make out the other day when you went?
Thanks dude! Any day on the water is worth while!
It'd be a heck of a lot more awesome if I made that cast tj! Haha
They're always clean looking fish out of that lake cudz! The problem is it's a small body of water and I often see people keeping fish that size! Once they get to be a pound or so they're at the top of the food chain... Except for bigger bass there's nothing to keep the population in check which results in a wack load of small fish and a handfull of pigs like that. Not a ton of 2 to 3 pounders. I wish they would have stocked it with smallies to! Average depth on the main body is 30 to 40 feet.
Thanks dude.
They just stocked the lake with fresh rainbows (aka bass food) a couple weeks back! Haha I'm sure those big guys eat their fare share of those farm raised bows! I can't wait for late season browns myself!
Yeah prolly lots have nailed there PB in there. I got a 3.5-4lber and a tonne of 1-1.5lb largeies couple big rockers and a bad case of bass thumb.

I don't think the lund had as much to do with it as the 200hp+ merc did I couldn't tell exactly what motor it was but I think it was a 250hp as for his drifts they were around in circles he struggled to keep it drifting the right way and left pretty quick must have been disappointed risked his life and boat for a half hour of WP fishin.
-
hey buddy if that fish was out of Erie it would be over 6lbs but being from the "pond" I would have to say 5.5lbs give or take for some reason they weigh light out of DC my 6.69lber looked like a 10 but she was long and thin I thought I had a ontario record when I saw it jump .congrats to your buddy Ryan on a new PB it's were my PB bucket came from aswell also my 2nd,3rd,and 4th largest LMB came out of there LOL
thats the 6.69lber long and skinny bad pic but I can't find the origanal .

I was checking out an Elite 5 at Angling Outfitters the other day - its crazy how much mapping is included with them!
I was told that unless you want to upgrade to a platnium card you don't need a chip for those units becuase they come with what is simalar to a gold navionics card and can be purchased with different areas on them.

A dab of crazy glue will help your palomar knot hold and ease the mind if your not sure of your tying skills but wire/nylon coated work fine for pike .
-
Craig I was fishing in the whirlpool at the heli pad and saw a guy in a lund trying to drift the WP.
-
That's cool let's see some pics when ya get her back.
-
I saw a guy in a 18' lund with a 200hp in the WP about 5-6 years ago he was only there mabye 25 mins before giving up and heading down stream. The currents were just tossing him around. Glad these 2 survived could have been a lot worse.

I dream off being a pro bass fisherman all day long and I build cars while doing it

I have owned four of them and they have all been huge sucks I miss my pitties.
