  1. i lost one of my best customers on the weekend.he just got a new ATV and was motoring in new territory. hit a steel cable across the enterance of a farmers back acre. flipped him off the machine, broke his neck and died instantly. a gate or log blocking the road would probably be just as effective and easier to see.he will be sorely missed by his familly and myself.Been doing bussiness with him for years.

I hate to sound like I have no heart... but whats he doing flying around on (#1) property that's not his, and (#2) unfamiliar territory...

The farmer could of put up barbed wire if he wanted....

No compassion is felt for the people who ignore small craft advisories on lake ontario and lake erie then take out their 14 footers...

    Just my two cents.

  2. MCSE and COMP TIA aren't really geared towards those who have no knowledge. These are kind of like industry standard for those companies who accept them. But most wouldn't hire someone with only these as their computer training background.

I know there are several community colleges that will take you from basic knowledge to being ready to pass certs to become a MCP (microsoft certified professional).

If you really know what your doing with computers, and can prove yourself you could get a decent job with only compTIA or a few random Microsoft certs, but if you are worried about taking a quick refresher course then taking the exam... its not for you.

  3. Will not be the first or last rod and reel ripped of the bank by a CARP .I have been with guys who even tho they were some what watching thir rods when fishing for these guys , that had one of those lake o bad boys grab their worm float weight and all and head out into the lake never to be seen again , could have been a trout or salmon (makes for a better story , damn this giant salmon ripped the rod out of my hand and lo I lost my rod ) but I would bet the house that it was just a bottom sucking lowly CARP ,I mean that in a good way for all the carp guys here ,IM sure anyone of them will have a story or two about rod stealing carp.It happens all the time

I've come very close to loosing a rod to a carp, I still ended up getting the best of him.

But since then I have purchased a bank rod holder... because you never know when you let go for a second or take your eye of the end to light that smoke....

    :stretcher:

  4. If you can't pay a $75 fire fighters fee.

IT'S TIME TO BUT DOWN THE BEER!!!

    LOOOOOOOL

I'm sure there were a few in the fridge that got fried....

Any story can be told from any perspective...

I bet if it were a grow house burning down that didn't pay their fee's people wouldn't be as heart felt for the family...

  5. I was fishing an area of water that is about 40 meters wide last night with my buddy, it flows into lake ontario my buddy was fishing with a worm with the sinker below his bait. Out of nowhere the rod got dragged into the water and darted out into the lake. I have no idea what it was but im thinking it was a salmon.

Hope it wasn't a nice rod....

Could of been a salmon or trout, but what do I know?

  6. They were following orders.

I'm just stating for people that cannot pay(in general) they are screwed.

The facts are the house was burning down, the firefighters were in a position to stop it and they didn't because the home owner didn't pay the money grab.

I usually like your posts Johnny... But its not a money grab... everything in this monetary system has a cost associated with it. And we all know money has real world value right? :sarcasm: HAHAHAHAHAHA

So you can't argue logic in a monetary system, because its not a part of the system.

And compassion... that's just plain absurd.

  7. Great Report. River fishing for salmon is one thing but when you catch them in open water, you get to really appreciate the power of a salmon!

Never been! I hear they are coming in the Upper Niagara and the creeks running off of that... but I'm a complete noob. I'd love to tag along and learn how to river fish for one of these bad boys!

But the open water salmon were really really powerful! I'm sure I would of lost it if it weren't for this fancy drag system on the rod... He just said "keep reeling, it fights the fish for you" hahaha. :clapping:

Great report and pics TC1OZ :thumbsup_anim:

I bet you can't wait to go back out :whistling: Congrats :clapping:

    Thanks for sharing

    Leechman

I'm dying to get out again! It was so much fun! I wanted to share it when it was more fresh in my mind and I remembered what lures we were using... and weights of fish! But oh well! I'm just glad he actually sent me my camera back!

But... if he didn't I still have the camera I won from Dave over @ Facts of Fishing....it's no boat, but better than nothing! hahaha.

  8. You could sell that first fish as a chrome accessory on a truck. I haven't downrigged for steelies yet...looks like fun.

Once the hook sets and the reel starts screaming... it gets the heart going! LOTS OF FUN!

I'd love to go out and do a charter if anyone's looking to group up, but its pretty easily done on a 16 foot tinny as well!

  9. You're missing the point on many issues here.....THEY DID BILL the property owner and the bill was NOT paid....no one was in the building so it wasn't a life threating fire but could have had the firefighters fought the fire and one of them got hurt or worse....since they were not under contract to fight the fire then if a firefighter would have gotten hurt maybe their liability insurance would not cover the medical expensive's. It would be like have another fire department from another county respond when they are NOT contracted to do so. Even our mutual aid has to be contracted out to protect the firefighter involved AND all the EXPENSIVE fire fighting equipment.

As Ohiofisherman pointed out......wouldn't it be nice only to buy a fishing license after you were caught fishing without one. When that's OK with you let me know.

If you want to put a value on everything in this world... why would it stop when it comes to saving lives and properties?

People will have to wake up sooner or later....

  10. The rest of us are expected to pay? what makes you so special? You gambled and lost?

I'd say that hit's the nail on the head.

But at the end of the day should it really cost money to save another human being... in this society we are currently living in... I guess so? :dunno:

  11. Well.. the reason for the late post is I just received my fishing camera back from a new acquaintance. We met on a local fishing board, but he is not local to my area. He really wanted to try Jordan Harbor trolling for bows but didn't want to do it alone.

I said I have never done anything of the sorts myself, but can drive a boat so he can do all the work on rigging the gear.

It was a neat experience for me as I am new to these types of fishing. I've fished from a boat many times, but never used a down rigger setup.

We were doing some ghetto down rigging from what I can gather (as I don't know too much). One setup was using a Dipsy Diver to get us down about 30 feet trolling a basic spoon, as well as a Jet Diver that took us to about 45 feet from what I assume.

The day started around 4:30 AM when I finished my midnight shift (real reason I forgot the camera in his boat). So instead of going home to sleep I went fishing!

There was the tail end of the storm moving through, we just waited it out in the van.

The sun was just starting to poke through the clouds around 7:30 and we were on the water marking tons of fish!

    dsc06617m.jpg

Tyler was kind enough to give me the first fish as it was my first time! It hit the spoon just before the clock struck 8!

    dsc06618h.jpg

I forget the weight so I'm not even going to attempt to guesstimate!

Tyler landed the second fish around 11 am....

    dsc06621o.jpg

We were marking TONS of fish but clearly not getting the pattern right. We started off in about 50FT of water and just kept trolling back and fourth. We packed it up shortly after 11:30 as not sleeping for more than 24 hours was starting to get to me!

We were going to get together again but our schedules never matched up so he just mailed my camera back! hahaha and now I can post the pictures!

    Thanks for reading!

  12. south fulton tenn has 2500 residents

    residential property tax average 409$

fire dept consists of 3 ff's

nearest town over 50000 people is 60 miles away.

that house was going to the ground anyway.

a citizen has no legal duty to act.

a firefighter has a legal duty to perform his job to the standards set by his dept.

this is a crazy story. im just throwin in some factoids.

I would enjoy paying 409$ a year for property taxes, and they didn't disagree to living there, its not like this was a surprise... they are usually late paying the bill and forgot this year. So its something they were aware of, not brought out of left field. Just sounds shocking to a Canadian who's never heard of such things.

  13. I was reading that they do nothing to stop "others" from scamming you.

Alibaba.com Is Doing Nothing To Stop Scams

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was recently a victim of a scam on Alibaba.com. For those that don't know what Alibaba.com is; it's a business to business network that allows business to connect and trade their goods. Well, there is a certain verification that a company can get which is called a "Trust Pass." This basically states that they are a trusted member.

So what is the problem? These "Trust Pass" members are ripping people off left and right, and Alibaba.com is doing nothing to stop it. If you are ripped off they take no responsibility whatsoever for it. It is so frustrating and I really don't know what to do, other than get peoples stories out there. Please check this blog to see what I mean: Alibaba.com ripoff blog.

Pay with a master card or visa so you have purchase protection... if you sent them pay pal money or western union... that's why they don't feel bad for you. There is no NEW WORLD ORDER to rule over everyone yet.. that's why they can get away with it. Other countries have bigger issues to deal with than consumer complaints.

  14. Looks like its a wholesaler from China. If the price break on one unit + shipping is cheaper then you are making money! If you have some extra cash order some more and up the price on kijiji or ebay....

But the bleeding hearts will suggest you are ruining our economy by ordering from China... I guess they've never shopped at Walmart or No Frills......
