  1. Here for 77 days and 161 posts and you're trying to reinvent the wheel.... get serious!

I've been edited, deleted, and threatened with ModQ on numerous occasions... . just part of the deal if you don't stay between the lines! Get use to it, or proof read your entry before hitting post ! :tease:

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Chase, I don't mean to be an :asshat: , but get with the program..

  2. My hunting partner used to be a member of an archery club in that area.

I'll ask him, and see if they have a youth program. I'm pretty sure they do, his son was hard into the archery as a young lad.

Edit: Just got off the phone with my buddy, it was York County Bowman.. He hasn't been a member for a while, so couldn't comment on their youth program. But he suggested you check out their website. Likely what Old Man post below. Good Luck eh!

  3. Most people don't know this, but Ontario has several Volunteer SAR teams.

I am very surprised I didn't get a call on this. The OPP must think they have things under control. Or the OPP officer in-charge has something against volunteers.. That happens a lot :wallbash: . The OPP is very very hesitant to call in volunteers, even if they are highly trained, and certified.

Hey Billy Bob, volunteer firefighters in Ontario, at least the ones I've worked with, are not trained enough as they should be in Ground SAR. They are great in the water, and ice, but when it comes to bush whacking, not so much.

Ontario is a little messed up when it comes to utilizing willing volunteers.

  4. Dang Sinker. I'm envious!

My season started off great. Lots of action. But hard to compare to past year because we where in a new blind, and trying some new tricks..

I shut er down at the end of October, because I'm to busy with the move.

My next few weeks will be spent chasing deer on my new property.

I didn't even get my duck blind on my boat this year :wallbash:

I'll love to make it out with you next year, if you ever need an extra gun.

  5. I love my work Christmas party. Open Bar. Everyone is always SO stressed out at my work, all the time. So when the party rolls around, we all get totally wrecked. I mean absolutely polluted. Everyone does.. Specially the president, and his wife.. The pictures are posted the folowing monday, and laughed over for the entire next year.. Free shuttles home, and we have it on a Saturday, so no excuse to miss work the next day!

We've all been talking about it for months now.

  6. To help keep the snow off, we ran 1/8” soft rope (almost like shoe lace but stronger) from the ridge pole down to the top side wall poles. Running the rope in kind of a zigzag pattern; that held the tarp from sagging between the joist poles and creating pockets for the snow to sit.

Another thing we did was to wash the roof tarp as best we could with soap & water and then spray it with a silicone/teflon automotive spray wax.

Bought a gallon jug of the stuff and used a weed sprayer to apply it. This sealed the tarp even more so, made it smoother and slippery; slightest bit of wind and the snow just slid off all on its own.

    Dan.

That's thinking outside the box eh.. Thanks for the tips!

  7. I agree with having a pro do the torsion bar spring but getting someone to do this for under a $100 is a pipe dream IMHO....

    Maybe where you are?

I had mine done last year, plus a few extras, and it was under $100 for sure.

  8. Thanks for all the comments everyone.

I ended up buying the $200 10x20 garage. But I have to honestly say, I don't think it's going to last for a long time.

The 3 main things that I've read which wreck these things it Wind, Snow, and UV. The place I'm storing it is the bush, with some good shade in the summer, and shelter from the wind. I'm thinking about adding some re-enforcement to the roof, and a few other things to extend the life.

It should work out alright for what I need it for, as long as I stay on top of the maintenance.

  9. Honestly man. I'm a very handy guy around the house, But I wouldn't attempt that repair on my own.

Had a coil snap last year, but didn't know it. Just thought the motor was acting up on the opener. So I pulled the cord to release the motor while the door was open. The old wooden garage door came down to fast that It would have cut my dog in half if she was 2 feet closer. Scary stuff man. Nearly took out my downstairs tenant..

I had a garage door company come an install it, I think it was $50-$75. While they where there they did a little service on the door, and replaced some hardware that blew off when the door crashed down, and re-aligned things.

That old door must weight over 200lbs, if not more. Took two guys to lift it with out the spring as counter balance.

  10. The exact same thing happened to my 1990 Corsica 5 years ago. Neighbor's kids had a party. Young girl still hungover from the night before. Totaled my rear passenger side door. Pushed my car 18". No note..

I grabbed my brother in-law, and we went over and knocked on the door. Found out the girls name after some discussions about what went on last night, and the fact that I new these kids parents where in Florida for a week.. They coughed over her phone number, and she agreed to pay for the damage.

I got a quote from the most expensive place in town (Zenitec). Then we met up, reviewed the quote, I told her I would do some of the work my self to make it a little cheaper. She gave me $800 cash.

Transmission blew on the car 3 weeks later, so I put the money toward the down payment on a new VW golf.

If you can find out who actually did the damage, then I don't see any harm in going after them for the repair costs IMO.. Even if it's a beater.

  11. I need some NF help.

I've been waiting for these tent garage units to go on sale at CTC. They have one for 50% off, but there are mixed reviews.

Anyone have this exact same one?

I move into my new house on Wed, and need some extra storage for the boat and sled.

I have linked the flyer below. Page 10.
