  1. I have really bad grammar. And to top it off, I try to type to fast, and thus make lots of stupid typo's.

If I'm starting a new topic, then I will spell check it, but that doesn't catch everything.

If I'm replying to a post that already exists, then I don't bother with the spell check..

Spelling errors, and minor grammar things don't bother my. I'm not a hypocrite. But if you can't understand what the person is trying to say.. Well that can be frustrating..

P.S. I spell checked this in MS Work, how many grammar errors did I make?

  2. Well these are a lot of great tips and advice. Love the pictures too. The dogs sure do seem to be lovin it :thumbsup_anim: Well except for yours in the second pic NAW, glad he was okay!!

I have another question then, how do you handle it in the boat then when the weather is cold or hot?

Like what about BOQ fishing in November, ice fishing, or fishing in August when you're camping?

My dog doesn't like the cold, and I'm worried she would fall in a hole. So I don't take her ice fishing. As for the heat, there is a nice shady spot in the back of my boat that always stays cool. I throw a towel in there, and she will lay in there for hours, or until I catch a fish.

  3. My dog loves to go fishing, and she loves being in the boat. But I always make sure she's wearing a life vest.

A few years back on cooks bay, she jumped over board, and we ran her over. Almost got dinged by the prop.

This was a few minutes before the big jump.

And this was a few minutes after.. Not a happy dog. Coughed up water the rest of the trip. We bought her a life vest later that week.

Dogs are great, but they're not for everyone. It can be a bit of a pain when need to find a sitter for them. But well worth of effort in my eyes.

  4. What CC is your motor on the strike master? I called strike master and talked to a service tech after I bought one used. They will be able to tell you what size of auger you can match with what CC power head. There's a chance you can upgrade the auger for less the buying a new complete unit.

Or you can sell the 8" unit, and buy a bigger one.

Strikemaster, Eskimo, Jiffy. They're all good as long as you maintain them, and mix the gas right. Just DON'T get a 3 blade strike master auger!

  5. Ice fishing can be a great cardio workout - dragging your sled out, drilling holes, running between tip-ups, dragging the sled back.

Or if you're me. Pull start the sled.. Pull start the augar. Twist the cap off the thermos.. Set to rods up real close so you don't have to run anywhere..

  6. I only started ice fishing about 5 years ago. Before that I never steped foot on the ice.

To tell you the truth, the worse the weather, the more I like it. To me, there's nothing beter then sitting in -35°c in heavy winds and zero visiblity jigging a few km from shore for white fish. :canadian:

It is nice to fish from a hut from time to time though :whistling:

  7. Be easy on me. This is my first Poll.

I'm sure it's been done before, just not that I can remember.

With all of the NF posts as of late, I thought a little fishing related poll might be refreshing to some.

The concept of "Winternet" has never really set in to my brain. I'm one of those guys who likes the winter more then the summer. I Ice fish every weekend, both Saturday, and Sunday if my wife allows it. I fish much more during the hard water season then I do in the soft water. And definitely spend less time in front of the computer.

I have always wondered what % of OFNers hit the ice during the hard water season?
