  1. I don't see the reason to wager the price of a couple of beers to see if my knot will hold on a fish that has taken me down to the backing. I fill the spool with pp, and then maybe switch ends after a coupla years. This works out to be the same cost as using filler, with no knots and good stuff right down to the tape covered spool.

If you want to match your 20 lb pp to an equiv diameter mono, that means that you will be filling your spool with 5 or 6 lb test. Is that really the situation you want?

I understand that if you are jigging walleye, or casting for bass, you might typically use less line, but for the downrigging, trolling, flatlining suff I do, there is no backing on my reels.

  2. Master of Bait, not to worry, but we all appreciate your attitude.

It is not against the rules of this board to post oos fish pics. 'We would prefer that you don't', mainly because of this crap.

On the other hand, this is always a good argument. No it's not, it's a discussion. It is not a discussion, very clearly an argument. Oh yeah? Well let's take this one outside, jerk. Want some, goof?

    Hilarity ensues.

  3. Thanks, it has been a great day, starting with my office cube being festooned with balloons. Some great gifts from family including BPS top o line 100 mph gortex jacket and bibs, tix to see Russell Peters at the ACC in June, and two of his dvds.

Add some phone calls from some old old friends (over 50 yrs old some of them), a great homemade pizza with my family, and a great thread from my friends at OFC. Yup, not shabby. Thanks.

  4. Easy. www.wholesalesports.com, or lebaron.com. I call em on the phone (after 6 pm) and then the gear shows up at my door in a couple of days, for 3 or $4. It's almost like magic.

I recommend wholesalesports. Nice folks, no duty, and no pst in Alberta. Then next best thing to being there.

You can also find lots of info about planer boards lying around.

  5. I saw these pics of a very wild-looking bass kinda fishy,

    WITH GREAT BIG TEETH!

What would a cutie like that one weigh?

Here's the fly in details. Check out the gear that they suggest you bring - sounds like breakoffs are a bit of a problem.

These fish were caught on the Congo River, second only to the Amazon in size, near Kinshassa. That's some heavy duty survival fishing there. You might need your own private security force to fish there.

    Solopaddler?

  6. HeyBud, thass way too much info right there, esp about the sweating part.

Roy, nice job as always. And Granny sounds like a real cutup, good genes in that family. Like Roy sez, that's the sorta attitude that works. I'd be real careful with that keeper there.

As for Roy's attitude, that's just wrong.
