Good luck. Fishing has been tough

I have a new 40 horsepower Mercury four stroke. (March 2013) Mercury's 20W50 synthetic blend is $62.00 for 4 litres. Currently full synthetic Castrol Edge is on sale for $33.97 for 5 litres.

Castrol claims there is no better protection on the market.

Mercury claims there are special additives for better protection in a marine envirionment.

Marketing ploy? Scam?

Don't want to do anything that might void my warranty, but $15.50 a litre. Yikes!

Thought I'd change all the fluids and stabilize my fuel system sometime next month. Wanna squeeze in a couple of more trips before the snow starts to fly.

 

Would appreciate your thoughts.

I'm not sure you need to go synthetic, but I would definately go with a made for marine oil.

Winterized my 2007 Yammy 115 4 str.

Oil very dark (as usual). Lower end lube like new.

Pulled the plugs to spray the cylinders.

As usual they look great. No fouling.

After 5 seasons still the original plugs. Likely 400 hrs total.

Are new plugs needed or do I keep going?

They will decimate the Kawarthas and all other warm water weedy lakes.

They will take over and push out the other species

Can't boat with any speed. They are dangerous when they jump.

Will be selling by cottage on Pigeon once they come in, before property values plummet

The bottle has been used. This is the 3rd fall.

I added the required amount to my boat tank

I have a bunch of Stabil left from 2 yrs ago. Looks fine.

No expiry date on the bottle.

Anybody know how long fuel stablizers are good?

Thought I should get a winch. Will likely do a little plowing in the future .

They are wanting $680 to install a Warn 2500lb winch.

Seems like a lot of $.

CT has a Superwinch LT2500 for $130 on sale. Gotta get a mounting kit for about $70-80.

Will take a couple hours to install. Can do myself.
