  1. Gotta get 2 DC27 batteries for the 24V MinnKota.

Last ones were Dekas with the new boat. Lasted 7 yrs.-not heavily used and babied. Dealer wants $165 each

Costco has Kirkland (don't know who makes them). same size $90 each.

    which would you buy?

on line they say fresh is key. Costco's manufactured Apr /13

  2. You might also want to consider that a multi-bank charger will only charge to as much as the weakest battery in the group can take. That's why it's preferable to replace all batteries in the group at the same time. I once had to boost my starter battery with one of my TM batteries to get going. The only way I was able to get the TM batteries back up to equal status was to take the weak one off the onboard circuit and charge it separately...then put both on the onboard system.

    Thanks. Didn't know that.

    better get 2--will try Costco

  3. So, checked the fuse to the "bad'-check the connection" battery. 30 amp Buss fuse may be blown. (not in the middle but end of metal strip not attached)

Put a CT charger on that battery. Charger amp needle goes to full for 10 seconds then shuts off on own. The cycle repeats.

The same charger on the other battery charges nicely.

Sounds like battery is toast. Brought both home to take to my mechanic for assessment.

Thanks Guys for your comments. Will likely have to relace the one. Hoping not tp replace the other but after 7 yrs probably should.

Hate to part with the coin.

  4. I think one of my 12V trolling motor batteries is dead or on the way out.

This is their 7th season. The MinKota on-board charger says one is charged, the other one says "check connection".

I checked and the connection is good. The motor doesn't have the power it used to.

They are hooked up (series or parallel) to generate 24 V.

What is the best/easiest way to check their health?

If one is crapping out, should I replace both? I guess 7 yrs is all ya get :(

    thanks, Peter

  5. Why don't you just bring it up to the cottage, drop it off at my place, I'll give it a tune up for you and you can take it back home at the end of the weekend.

That's awesome of you to offer that, Cliff. I'm going to try a new plug and run some more Seafoam thru her.

If that doesn't work, I'd appreciate it if you take a look if you can.

  6. Hi Guys.

My Honda lawn mower is about 7-8 yrs old.

Used to start on first or second pull.

Over the last 3 yrs or so years seems to require 5-6 pulls. More when it's cold.

Always ran it dry before storage. Stabilized remaining gas in tank.

I ran a fair bit of Seafoam thru it this spring. I had been using regular gas all along but this year only Shell Premium without ethanol.

Mower has a throttle lever that chokes when pressed all the way down. No primer button.

My crappy Briggs and Stratten with a primer botton at the cottage starts right up.

Any ideas? I'm worried I'm going to wreck the pull cord.

    Thanks in advance

  7. A growing pup has very high nutritional needs. More protein, fat and energy, and micronutrients.

The food needs to be properly balanced, or health/growth will be compromised.

A raw meat diet will not give you that.

Also, salmonella bacteria are commonly present in raw poultry. It has been shown that dogs eating raw poultry constantly excrete salmonella bacteria thru their feces and they are present in their mouths. This poses a risk to you and your family. Dogs are fairly resistant to getting sick.

Dogs are not carnivores. They are like us and bears, omnivors. They don't require a high meat diet, unlike cats that are carnivores.

My advice is to feed a good quality, brand name dry puppy food, until he is 6 mo old. Then gradually switch to adult food.

If you want to home cook, follow a published, balanced recipe. The meat and starches should be cooked, fruits and veggies raw.
