  1. Check out this place http://www.siestalodge.ca/ Went there last year and had a good time lots of fish, caught pike, walleye, bass and perch.
  2. Looks like cherries to me
  3. I will be putting my Legend V151 Viper up for sale soon, see thread title (Split Hull) it has a crack in the hull that needs welding other than that it is ready to go. With 40hp mercury 4 stroke, bow mount electric, fishfinder, 3 seats, trailer ect. I think i am going to sell it as is and let the buyer do the repair work needed. Boat is a 1998, motor is a 1999 will be looking to get between $5000-$6000.
  4. So does the marina i was at today. Would the marina you are talking about be Temagami Marine? Maybe i should compare with the price i was quoted today.
  5. Yes they are definately a delicassy. Only trick is you got to know where to look for them. If you know of any wet swampy wooded areas this would be a good start.
  6. Ok since my boat has suffered some damage i am thinking of getting a new one, what do you guys think about the Lund Classic 1660 SS? http://www.lundboats.ca/1775_1660_classic_07.html I have always wanted a Lund boat and i guess i should have done it right the first time instead of settling for less, only live once right.
  7. Well thanks for all the input guys. After having a couple days to think about this i think i am either going to sell this boat as is and let someone else repair it or get it repaired then sell it. Either way i want to get rid of this boat. Part of what is making me think this way is i have found a great deal on a brand new Lund.
  8. I do not know what caused the crack, had it out on Sunday in a 2 foot chop but surely the boat is capable of handling that and more. There is a slight possibility that the lower crack was there when i bought it, I noticed it after my first outing and tried to fix it with a cold weld epoxy. The larger crack in the splash rail opened up on Sunday. Would a product like this work?
  9. The inside of the boat where the cracks are is accessable no gas tank or wires there, there is foam under the wood floor though. The warranty states that it has a leakproof for life main hull seam warranty and 10 years on other hull components. This is to the original owner and does not transfer to secondary owners.
  10. Well as mentioned in SlowPoke's post i have a boat with a damaged hull, it is a Legend V151 Viper. The lower crack where there is a structural rib had been previosly repaired with some kind of cold weld epoxy (the grey stuff in the pictures) which failed and opened up even larger while fishing this weekend. Also there is a new crack that also happened this weekend just above the other one, it is right in the middle of the flare out at the connection between the bottom and side of the boat, this one is approx 2' long. I did not hit anything with the boat but there was a light chop on the water Looking for info and advise on what i should do, can this be repaired?
  11. It wasn't until we got back to the launch that we learned our day could have been worse, much worse. One of the participants sustained some pretty serious hull damage. Everyone in the boat was safe thankfully. They took on some water but I think everything was under control. Hopefully it is repairable and he won't be off the water for long. Nice report and pictures SlowPoke. It was my boat that sustained the hull damage! We did not hit anything in the water but after motoring over to a different fishing location i noticed excessive water in the boat, peeled back the carpet in the area and discovered a 2' crack in the hull at the water line. We had to limp back to the launch with the bilge running constantly. I just purchased this boat used over the winter and it was my second trip out with it (boat is a 1998 legend V151 Viper) Roger took some pictures of the damage for me and i will make a post when i get them, looking for info if it can be repaired.
  12. I have had it out only once for a test drive, did not have the camara with me. I will have to take some pictures this Sunday and post a report, it is a 1998 Legend V151 Viper powered by a 40 merc 4 stroke.
  13. Great idea Roger, i would try to be there.
  14. Congrats Roger Yes the new one has quite a bit deeper hull and sits nicely in the water, should be able to handle some bigger waves. Looking forward to Sunday and the opening toonie tourney, the new web site looks great.
  15. No that is the old boat, new one is bigger with wider gunwales. Thanks for all the info guys
  16. Yes hopefully somebody has used them with success for salmon fishing, i just want to make sure they will stand up to the pull of a dipsy diver and a salmon.
  17. I am in the market for some rod holders for my new boat, main use will be for my dipsy rods. Has anyone used the scotty striker rod holders and are they strong enough for salmon fishing? I was going to go with the down east clamp ons but they will not fit my boat. I need a deck mount rod holder that i can remove easy when not in use therefore do not want to go with the down east bolt on model.
  18. If you are planning on taking your boat better check that the channel and launch are clear of ice, it was still froze up as of last weekend.
  19. Thanks guys heading up in the morning for a week.
  20. bump Heading up on Wed.
  21. Hi guys, My uncle has a hunting camp that is 10 minutes away from night hawk lake and we are looking to head up there for some ice fishing. The only time i have been there is in the fall for moose hunting. I am looking for info on the lake such as ice conditions, access points and general locations to fish as it is a big lake. Any guys fish this lake? Your help would be much appreciated.
