  1. Hi all, Just wondering if there are any members local to the lake who can give an update on the ice situation up there. I have a bungalow booked for Jan 3rd in the South Shore area Thanks in advance!
  2. Recently I've read several posts regarding supporting Canadian retailers and products, and frustrations some have had with online purchases. I just had the pleasure of making my first purchase from eTackle.ca I'm sure there will be many more to come as I update my tackle arsenal. Phil was a delight to deal with, and deserves this recognition. I am in no way affiliated with the company, just a happy customer and thought I'd share this with others on the board. Jeremy
  3. Thanks, I couldn't believe the number of application-specific rods in the Crucial line-up! Decisions, decisions....
  4. Hi all, I'm trying to update/upgrade my current tackle selection, mainly rod/reel. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest some options for a couple of purchases I plan to make in the near future. I mainly fish on Lake Scugog and have had the most success fishing a worm on heavy weed edges, and topwater frog in the pads. I'm starting to research rods specific to this application and am looking for any suggestions. These would be used mainly for bass, and the occassional walleye. I use both spinning and baitcast. These would get light to moderate use, mainly on weekends. Looking for mid-range $$ options. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Jeremy
  5. Damn, I just jinxed myself didn't I!
  6. Looks like a great place to find some deals. Wish I was closer.
  7. I'm probably just going to be using them for rod holders this year. I'll have to take some measurements as there is a small track for the bimini already on the gunnel.
  8. I bought my spare at Princess Auto, but fortunately haven't had to use it!
  9. Awesome, thanks for all the info, and pics Jeremy
  10. Yes, they will be going on the gunnels. I have access through storage compartments but I'm not sure if I would need to use backing plates etc
  11. Hey all, I'm researching the different track systems as I want to have some options for rod holders, and hopefully downriggers one day. Is this install a DIY, or should it be left to the pros? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance, Jeremy
  12. My GPS app is actually pretty bang on with my Garmin. Gotta love iPhones
  13. I never even thought of using it on my snowblower. Especially because it didn't even get started this year!
  14. I'm gonna go grab some now. Can't wait to get my boat in the water! Just not looking foward to having to fill the gas tank Jeremy
  15. I seems that mainly 2-stroke owners are using. Just to confirm, it's ok for use on 4-strokes, specifically a 2010 115 hp
  16. Thanks guys. The motor has always run great, but it might be worth a shot just to prevent any future problems
  17. Hi all, Just curious how many people regularily use a fuel additive. Is it more of a precautionary measure, or do you consider it necessary? Is it just for older, or 2-strokes? This will be my 3rd season with my boat and I have never added anything to the fuel aside from adding stabilizer when it's winterized. It's a 2010 4-stroke Merc. Thanks in advance, Jeremy
  18. First off, Happy Easter! At the end of the season last year, I pulled a little too hard on a hinge on my front casting deck and pulled a couple screws up. What would the best way be to secure them back down. A friend suggested to simply use a larger diameter screw, however I'd prefer to somehow fill the existing hole and re-use the original screws. Suggestions?
  19. Thanks! I'll be sure to post lots of pics. Hopefully of some big slabs next week!
  20. Hi all, I've been lurking around this site for a while now, and thought it would be time for an intro. Back in 2010 I bought a new 17' Sylvan Expedition with a 115 4-stroke which sadly doesn't get as much use as she deserves. I'm a shift worker, so finding free time to fish has been tough as we have two young children. This year, I'm hoping to change that though. I keep my boat up on Scugog for the most part, and have found some great spots. My wife is off for the year on maternity leave, so that may help. I've read, Scugog gets a pretty bad rap as an overcrowded, tournament ridden fishery, however there are still many great fish to be had. I live in Bowmanville, so it's great being able to leave the house, and be on the water within 35mins! Anyways, if anyone sees a blue/white Sylvan out on the bog, be sure to say hi. Jeremy
  21. I too have meadow voles on my property. In response to the above post, although they may not invade your home, they have completely destroyed my once beatuiful lawn. They are far from harmless to anyone who prides themselves on having a nicely manicured lawn. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've tried snap traps along their route with no success yet. What bait are you using in the trap which you caught one?
  22. Thanks for all of the excellent information. I've heard from several sources interest rates are on the way up. I've considered buying used, but the boat I want is so specific that either I'm not looking in the right places, or there isn't any available in the used market. Either way, once I make a decision on the 2-stroke vs 4-stroke dilemma I'm hoping to make a purchase!! Jeremy
  23. Hi all, I am in the market for a new boat, and am wondering if it would be worth waiting until next year for the boat show. Does the concentrated number of vendors result in competitive pricing, or would I be getting a better deal on a new '09 this time of year? Any experiences you have had would be greatly appreciated. (I'm presently looking at the Princecraft SS 172) Thanks in advance, Jeremy
