  1. Take a look at these pics and feel free to make suggestions as to what can be done.

I am starting on stripping out the carpet and I am thinking about a deck extension as well.

Any and all advice is welcome!

How do I remove the shifter from the sidewall? I was test-fitting my seats and found it need to be moved up an inch or 2.

Shifter should be held on with 2 or 3 bolts. Reach in behind the gunnel and you should be able to get at them.

As for the helm, this is what I did with the helm on my Fisher SV-18 GT.

The Bow panel is for the trolling motor and there may be an outboard tilt switch there.

  2. The scary thing is this is how it starts...animal activist groups love these opinions....first you ban catch and release, because it is cruel...than you go for a complete ban on sportfishing. Rulings like the ones in europe start to set precedent...God forbid it EVER happens here!!!!!!

    Shouldn't happen here.

The right to fish and hunt is written into the constitution.

  3. I thought the opening ceremonies were a solid A-. The National Anthem was butchered to death, it is our national anthem not some R&B soul song, I wish singers would have alittle more respect and play the song in a traditional manner, it was unrecognizable in parts and to me an embarisment. The performers sang great, not sure exactly what K.D Lang's deal is but she does have an awsome voice and performed well. The olympic hym was alittle much, but all in all a good show.

The style in which the Anthem was sung was dictated by the producers not theperformer.

They had her on this morning and the commentator commented about the R&B twist and she said she performed it the way she was asked and said she is just a performer doing what the director and producer wanted for the show.

I agree that I would have rather heard a more traditional version but her version wasn't bad, just different. She does have a heck of a voice. I also agree about the operatic singing of the olympic hym. Not a fan of opera at all.

  4. My problem with the show was if you were say from Italy you would think we revere native canadians their culture and way of life and thats just not the case. I found the whole native spin incredibly hypocritical.

Sad to say that if you live in Ontario that is the case, but out West and in the North it is a totally different scenario.

  5. I have to give props to the 2010 Olympic Organizing Committee, the producers, performers and technical crew for the job they have done on the opening ceremony tonight. It was absolutely world class and the lighting and visual effects were among the best in the world, absolutely stunning. The performances were flawless and have shown the world what being Canadian is all about.

Here's to the next 16 days.

    GO CANADA!!!!!!!!

  6. $58.25 + Gst.. UPS raped me for Brokerage... when Fedx would have done that for $7 and then the tax collection on value.. total to UPS and government $107.27. Paid Defender $30 for shipping. So that said.. 6 AUTO inflaters for a total of approx $490 CDN... $81.67 Each including taxes!! ($72.27 + tax).

Can't really complain, except for the raping and gouging done by those UPS scumbags!!!!

  7. Those crap nylocks don't do anything Dave. They unthread like normal nuts. Thank god for the Mcgiver in all of us or we would have been screwed last March. I ended up stealing my seat bolts to get by a few times. At least mine only fell apart and if I could find them I could put it back together..... that Piece of Crap Clam thing of Lloyds... the heads sheared off 75% of his bolts leaving him high and dry on a gusting 60 MPH day! We used up most of the hardware I had stocked in the boat house to put his back together.

I replaced all my bolts with Aircraft hardware and good Nylock stuff.. and still crazy glued the things! lol

Grab at least a few spares before heading out.. banging along on hardpack will shake it apart in no time..

And as for the "stretcher poles".. I wouldn't be without them. When using as a wind break only they work great to hold it tight in the windbreak position. When closed they aren't as big of deal.. but sure keep it from flapping. Also the main stretcher pole keeps the tent away from the heater.. especially when opening the door.

Right, extra bolts/nuts and Loc-Tight all the bolts on the thing before hand.

I'll replace all thier nylocks with good ones I have from my manufacturing days. ;)

    Got it!!!! :D

  8. Nice unit Drifter-good value--for my purposes....

    UPS Import Charges--$38.70

a Valentines Day present-the lady is going to love it

    Thanks again dude

    Cheers

    ID1

    Not too bad.

You get a fully auto unit for about the same price as a manual unit on sale.

Still UPS should be taken out and flogged!!!!! cursing.gif

  9. right on. wont be hard to fiugre out seating, then i will wait, and see when they go on sale, like i don t have a problem saving 200, ill have to keep an eye on the flyers for sure

You can also make your own strecher poles from 1/2" electrical condiut and some of these.

    Quick Connects

    Quick Connects - Includes (Qty 6, 7/8" X 7/8") p/n 102113

You can probably find them cheaper elsewhere (ie. hardware store)

with a piece of 1/2" and a piece of 3/4" plus a 3/4" quick connect and a spring button pin you can make an adjustable strecher pole for the front.

  10. from what I have seen and what we have put that hut of yours through Wayne you cant go wrong with the treckker II

unless you call lost nuts and bolts after 300 miles of run and gun fishing in 6 days issues lol

How were the nuts and bolts lost?

    Mine are all nylock nuts.

    Did the bolts snap?

Should I take spares on my epic journey next month? :P

  11. Ha Guys,

My wife just called me here at work. UPS delivered the vest at around 12:30 today. I will have a look at the added fees when i get home at 4:00 today and post the total amount.

    Thanks Ross

O.K. Charged $25.30 brokage fee plus $7.87 GST plus $4.72 PST and $1.27 GST on Brokage fee .

    Nice looking vest.

    Thanks Ross

    Was that for one vest?

Even with those ignorant fees it's still 1/2 price or less. ;)

  12. wow 218 interesting Canadian tire has them for 399 and says adventurer, can you mount the molded seats in it like they are in the Trekker 11 ?

You can build a frame and mount seats or a bench to it.

It all depends how handy you are. ;)

PS. Next month they will have that Adventurer on sale for $200 when they have their end of season sale.

So you can fork out $200 and figure out your own seat setup. :D

  13. Is the Fraill Adventurer the same as the Trekker 11 ? I went to a few sites looking for trekker and they come up

adventurer, i have located an adventurer, but don t see any info on it, only the trekker 2, anyone have an idea please.

    Thanks

The Adventurer is the made for places like Canadian Tire and has no stretcher poles and the seats are triangular camp type seats.

    The rest is the same.

The Adventurer is not even on Frabills site and there is no manual available on their site.

  14. I have a Trekker II and it's maiden voyage was last weekend.

I like most everything about it. However being a big man I find that the seating setup is a little flimsy.

Not the seats, but how they are attached to the sled.

There is an easy fix for this that I'm going to do this week.

The seats hook over the side of the sled but the sled being plastic has some flex and I find the seat wobbly.

Under the lip of the sled where the seats hook I'm going to bolt in a 1"X1"X5' aluminum tube.

It will bolt on using 4 bolts from the two corner brackets that hold the hoops the tent is attached to and one bolt in the center of the span.

This will really stiffen up the edge of the sled and provide a good solid place for the front of the seat to hook to.

It is pretty light and in higher winds you need some weight in the sled or anchors.

I had to put my auger in the sled to keep it anchored even though it was attached to my snowmobile.

I made my own hitch from 3/4" electrical conduit and carabiner clips.

Here's a couple of shots of it from last weekend.

The wind was gusting to 40k, you can see how it is pushing against the back of the hut.

  15. My question to all you guys who're buying these things: How do you know 100% for certain they'll actually inflate if and when you really need them to?

    Fact is you don't.

That's the primary reason why, although they're more comfortable to wear, I never used them on my canoe treks in the far north, opting always for a more conventional non inflatable pfd.

Mine has a GO, NOGO guage on it as I'm sure they all do.

If the guage is green you're good if it's red your not.

They also have a manual inflation valve.
