"There is no catch-&-release. If you catch an Aurora Trout, you have to keep it and can not fish the rest of the day for trout. To fish the next day, you must eat the Aurora Trout first as you can only have one (1) trout in your possession."
lmao...

lmao! That's fantastic, oh well it's the thought that counts. Plus it's better to be a day early than a day late

Very nice report, beautiful pics & congrats on the wedding

That would require one big hickory plank for the bbq.

Think again fella. There's lots of big pike in Kempenfelt, caught them up to 41 inches.
Schaweet, I didn't know that (nice pic ). I guess everyone always just names Cook's as the pike spot. I gotta give kempenfelt a try then.

I signed up

I don't think there are pike in kempenfelt, the bulk are all in cook's bay. Kemp is however loaded with fat perch right now.

Walleye is actually the proper name, but they were always known as pickeral to Ontario fishermen and those of us that grew up calling them pickeral still refer to them that way.
Walleye is what the Americans called them and the name is now catching on here too.
Thank lew
That's a nice Pickeral

Nice report, and vn fish!
Well done Dave, that's a very impressive pickeralI'm a little confused, how come a lot of people call walleye - pickeral? If someone says there are pickeral in that lake, are they referring to walleye or chain pickeral? Or do you got to ask to clarify?

Wow amazing job Cliff... Glad you got some pics of the day What colours of Mepps were you using?

Well I finished carving the giant pumpkin:
-
I'm heading out today for a quick pike venture this afternoon. Weather looks good up here, will be about 8C with 15km/hr winds (Currently 9km/hr). That's if I can get off my street, they are paving it right now lol.
-
So I haven't carved my pumpkin yet but I bought the biggest pumpkin at the patch. It cost $25 and I decided to weigh it because it's just so heavy. It's "Devil's Night" October 30th and my pumpkin weighs 66.6lbs!!!!
Here it is in all it's glory:
For fun here is my last year's theme:

you will soon see all that 'soft' water in the bay turn hard (ice)
it just take so damn long
Oh hahah gotcha Thank you sir.

Quick newbie question - What exactly does Soft Water Fishing mean? Last time I checked, water is soft by nature

Hoping the winds will die down for thursday... Planning to go then as temp warms.

I bought a conservation license simply because the whole reason for me to fish is just to catch and release. I'm not keeping any fish, not for the wall or for the plate. I should be able to go after any fish I desire.

How important is masking your scent guys? We got one of those little round things that look like a puck to rub your hands over... suppose to mask your scent. Do you guys use spray on your lures?

Wow.. OMG that's terrible man. Great to know for myself as I have a little dog of my own. I couldn't imagine seeing that.
She's only 4 years old, but I've spent upwards of $3K on her over the past 2 years in vet bills. So I feel your pain financially, but can't compare seeing a kitten in that state.

Well.. this will be my first winter ever ice fishing (Just started fishing this summer).
I've never cleaned a fish, but I'm definitely tempted to pull out some nice jumbos from simcoe and try cleaning them up for some tasty fish & chips. Other than that, I'd probably target pike.
We'll see if I can take the cold lol.
