  1. Its quite amazing seeing the contrasting photos from yesteryear to present, it is very humbling and should remind us all of where we are going and just how temporary this life is. Very humbling indeed, cause for reflection.
  2. that's funny, I had the best smallie day ever in the river I fished pulled two PB 15" smalleyes out of 4ft of water, something about yesterday, humidity, storm coming. Weird.
  3. I'm ready! has a career best yesterday already (see PM)
  4. Yup, good times. Hey, Oct. might top them all! Not over yet!
  5. In realty, shades is a swimming pool compared to most lakes so if they don't stock it, I can't see how it can be good
  6. So let Me understand this? They want to get rid of bass one of the most fun fish to catch so they can do what? Catch sunfish all day?
  7. Should have brought a video cam and made a tv show out of that one! Great job!
  8. Wow, some fat overfed, greddy obese bass, they need to go on a diet.
  9. Really, you guys had success, that's good - I had a canoe out all over the place (4hrs) then waded the beach side later. Glad someone is catching there.
  10. Hi all, been using spiderwire exclusively since last year, 6lb test, very thin, stretchy, works fine with casting, noticed if you dropshot it, it goes to crap real fast, line twists and tangles (not at the reel but on the line being dropshot), is this because of it being mono or should I try another brand? PS - I'm wading and dragging a drop shot I have not had a lot of line breaks with it, it is stretchy but now reading reviews, people seem to dog it. Please advise.
  11. well, tried it out. Was horrible, covered most of the area, tried dropshot, tubes, crankbaits nada - only a few other people fishing, only one boat (shows how crap the fishing is there on a sunny calm day even), hooked a rock bass, small mouth (really young), others fishing from shore (just a few) caught sunfish, third time there - last time there.
  12. I have wading along the edges, only one part, quite a nice quiet place at times - only caught perch, planning to canoe it today and see.
  13. Hi all, Just like that, Walleye returned to the river I fish, not even cold yet. Nailed 7 of them in a 2hr period, they hit small rapala minnows, walleye grubs (yum on knuckle balls), didn't touch a drop shot - any other methods of getting the eyes on a picky day, as usual the hit everything from a 2hr period then that was it for the day.
  14. 10 points for Randy! Apparently, whenever it jumped out of the lake, it would jingle and had all these spoons in his mouth, no one could reel him in - not sure if he was ever caught. Minnesota I believe. Anyone else have experience with a Fish that kept getting away!
  15. For 10 points, who knows the story of Jingle Bells the Musky?
  16. Sounds good - must be hard too with the water being even lower than normal with no rain recently. I think everyone is waiting for that stretch of 15 degree weather to set things off!
  17. Hi all, Was thinking to rent a canoe and do some fishing mid week, figured I would pretty much have an area to myself with kids back at school/sept. and all. If you had to pick one of these areas, which would you pick? I'm leaning towards shade's mill since it is the quietest? Which one of these places do you think would produce the best midweek in Sept. with not many people around? Thanks
  18. Drop shot the 30ft water. Try that. Some Youtube videos on how to tie a drop shot.
  19. I think people get mad when they don't catch anything so they say 'screw it' and throw their junk around. I know what I do when people cast at me, I grab the line - catch that.
  20. Been using the snap on, swivel drop shot weights - nice and easy to put on, I know they may give better action but I lose about 1 every 30 mins as they get caught on rocks or between stones and have no pull since they arn't tied on. Was going to buy more today, what do you guys think, go with the traditional tie on ones or stick with the snap on swivel? I'm using 1/4 oz even though the water is only 2-4 ft, due to the current, I used to use 1/8 oz but it would slowly slide down stream, maybe I should try 3/16 oz maybe not enough action too much weight! At any rate, isn't this clear weather great!
  21. see and some people don't like the MNR - good thing it exists!
  22. Wow -thanks for all the answers, I was told when it gets cold, like below 10c water temp. the bite is done, fish stagnate, don't bite etc. Wrong info I guess.
  23. would anyone who fishes the grand, speed or thames rivers agree?
  24. Just curious, a question for experienced river fishermen. Last year, around mid-Oct. that was it for me, it just stopped, no more hits, no more fish. I guess water temp had dropped as low as 12-14 degrees celcius, water depth I fish is up to 5ft max. (wading). I wanted to know at what point in the fall does it dry up in the rivers and is this due to the water just getting to cold? On the plus side, as the autumn season progressed, the water got clearer till the point it was crystal, when in the summer it was a murky mess. Fishing waters that hold mainly bass, then walleye, then pike.
