  1. Now that the Smerch is back from Quinte, we had to get together and chase smallies again. Nice weather and 3' vis on the water. Lots of minnows dancing around being chased. We hit a few spots on the system and consistently caught fish.

Of course, I kept finding the WGSF. :P

Gonna have to pour some more tube jigs soon. The 12 and L Gibson have been given many a sacrificial offering this summer. :wallbash:

  2. Oh Boy, you got that right. I dare you just check out the comments on the CBC Website when a Soldier Dies. Check it out. There are Soldiers in Theatre that read those Posts. There are computer terminals for Entertainment when they do get a chance, Its just sickening and downright Treasonistic on those comments. As far as Duty to vote and how lucky we are. Any Soldier that's been overseas will tell ya, Gad, is that ALL YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IS VOTING? I found out that Soldier, is a Bad word now in this country. I just made some more enemies on this board.

" Soldier " or "sailor" have been dirty words in this country since the early 60's. Same goes for other words like "duty", "honour", "loyalty" or "patriotism". Nothing new in that.

  3. Good fishin' as usual Bigugli. And a nice haul of tomatoes. I always say. if someone hasn't eaten a freshly picked tomatoe, they've never tasted a tomato! Isn't it funny how the ones at the grocery store are bland and tastless comparitively.

Anyhoo, hope to run into ya one of these days down in the Pennisula!

We all have a choice. The tomato ripened in the truck :P or the one ripened on the vine ;)

We must have sold well over 1000lb at the market Saturday and another 200lb+ of fancy cherry toms. The stuff I was packing was what was left from the last 2 weeks picks and too ripe for market now. I've got no more room in the freezer til I boil some down

  4. Past 2 days I've been busy packing and freezing tomatoes from the farm.

By the time all was done, there was another 170lbs in the freezer. Probably need another bushel yet with all the salsa we make.

The reward was a quick trip down the road to the harbour before dark. No problem finding the bass. They were hitting spinnerbaits, tubes and 6" twisters. Most were dinks.

    one decent bass.

Spent a little time looking for perch, but they hadn't moved in yet. Only caught a couple.

Great way to blow 2 hours.

  5. Regretably, litter seems to be a fact of life. It is not just a fishing problem. In the course of a year I will recycle 1000lbs of aluminum and over 5000 beer empties found in my travels ( provides the gas for some of the fishing trips and buys kids combos that I donate). I will hit a spot tonight and I am guaranteed to find a 6 pack lying around.

I have to limit how much I pick up and take home, else I have to pay garbage penalties. I rarely pick up poly bottles any more because the garbage gang will only pick up the first 2 sacks at the curb. I have to pay to dispose of the rest. The good guy gets penalized

A lot of sites no longer have public waste cans. Locals use them to dump their trash and kids like to set them on fire.

Many municipalities promote recycling at home but do not recycle in their parks. They also wait til the cans are overflowing and trash blowing all over the park before they pick up

  6. We have such a beautiful world here in our backyard. Every once in a while I just have to get out and discover, or revisit, another part of it. Today's travels took us to the town of Elora on the banks of the Grand. A quaint town with it's own rustic charm and sights to see. Lots of shops for the women. I fished for smallies from the parking lot for part of the morning.

As you cross the main bridge ther are floating sculptures in the river, made right in town.

The Mill dominates the town and the falls behind it are worth the trip even if they have been photographed a thousand times.

A mile down the road is the Elora Gorge CA with a nice hiking trail to spend an afternoon on.

I even found a snug little bear cave to have a wee nap in.

The best part of the adventure is having the family together for today's outing. Judy is home to stay and, hopefully, Anna will be home to stay soon as she completes her treatments.

  7. Got out for 3 hours this evening to work over this one trough I found a little while back on L Gibson. I just dragged tubes across the bottom of the trench and the smallies were on heavy. They were ripping the tubes off the jigs or inhaling them on the way down. Only wish I had time to get out earlier. A few pics:

Even managed a few surprise slabs just as it got dark.

  8. If the population is getting too much for central Ontario, transplant and reintroduce the bears to southern Ontario. Let the city types enjoy the experience of nuisance bears in their neighbourhood :P

We've re-introduced the wild turkey. Why not bears. Ample food supply south of #12 and #503 highways.
