  3. Hey hey, just came back from a few hours on the Conestoga after work. I've been learning the river and how to river fish and managed to catch my personal largest smallie and ALMOST land one even bigger... it was swimming around my legs and got loose just as i went to grab it. Ah well, I am really happy to find some fun fighting fish so close to me!
  4. I was there this saturday for the majority of the day and the bite was off for everyone I talked to. Not sure why but even the security guy said it was odd how poor the bite was. Maybe due to the cold front or something. Not sure
  5. Sposed to be cloudy tonight here's to hoping it isnt
  6. Hello again, I have a larger tackle box for when i shore fish or in a boat, but when im out wading, i usually take out 2 trays and put them in an old back pack. Problem with this if i want to access anything i have to walk to shore and back. I'm looking at either a belt style tacklebox(bag)? or vest but im not sure which has the best utility. I am a spin caster not a fly fisher. So, what do you river fishermen use? Tyler
  7. Hey all, long time lurker small time poster. I've been looking to get into learning the rivers in my area for a long time and finally have the drive to do it. I live in the North waterloo area, work out of elmira and look at fishing after work or some weekend mornings on the conestogo or grand or nith. Whether your new like me or a regular on the rivers, toss me a pm and we'll go find some fish Tyler
  8. Hey Bob, in regards to the carving I'd hesitate to on a silver maple as it is considered a soft maple which does tend to rot fast. Unless you seal it paint it and keep giving it care you'd see your masterpiece start to fall apart in a few years rathjer than decades.
  9. Its good to hear of a good experience. I do the same thing in the tri cities. And for every one good account of an arborist there's 5 pretend-a-arborists that give the industry a bad name
  10. is there any place to park w/o paying? or do you have to pay the park fee's, which arent horrible, just havent been there yet, trying to find where to go! Thanks Tyler
  11. for the longest time i was reading the post title as Cursing salmon eggs lol

  13. I'm gonna have to invest in some waders, the grand is right near me in k-w area, and shore hopping sucks... lol. good report!
  14. Congratz on being retarded. I mean retired
  15. I've been itching to fish here forever... just having something that floats to fish in eludes me!
  16. I guess my biggest issue is knowing what these deeper holes look like. with the water high, it all looks deep lol, how does one bounce a grub?
  17. Hey all, I'm new to this site and relatively new to fishing. I have a fair amount of experience on lakes and the likes, but when it comes to rivers like the grand and conestoga, i suck. I dont know how to deal with moving water when it comes to fishing, so basically i was wondering if theres anyone out there in this area thats willing to either just pm me some how to's or take me out as a rookie some time to learn how to catch fish in these places! shout out to fatherof3 and his friend, i forget your name... sorry lol, had a blast learning some of the river... but yea, still, anyone in my area can help me, that'd be great. Thanks Tyler
  18. either that or you were looking at a stretch of REALLY stressed trees. If a tree is under a lot of stress... ie. root damage or foliar damage, it will change really early, i've seen trees change as early as june.... but the year after that they die lol
