  1. That sign is only for Canadians. I think you will find most of those people are of Eastern European origin.... I'm sure some of those people in the photo are Canadians too but thier numbers are small in number when compared to the rest.

The picture is not Port Hope and doesn't even look like its in Canada. But hey, who cares about checking facts. Much easier to just blame Immigrants for stuff.

  2. Hey Pete, did you foul hook it or have it lip hooked. 'Cuz if you lip hooked it, you could have kept 'er!

    lol

Ok, sorry. I'd be interested in hearing other people's opinions on this too.

On thing though, I think it's just plain wrong to clean your catch and dump the carcass down the hole for the next customers to worry about whether if screws up the fishing or not. Don't dump down the hole!!!

  3. If you want to stick to the West side, there are several operators who primarily fish perch.

Terry Goy out of Gilford is a good guy with a good operaton. He is set up for perch( and occassionally pike ).

Then there is Lucky Sons out of Lefroy. He has huts in perch water and further out in trout/whitefish water.

    Google for contact info, etc.

Goodluck and I hope you guys have a good time wherever you decide to go!

  4. Several years ago, I witnessed a fellow on Dover pier hook into the biggest white crappie I had ever seen caught. It was a plate sized monster of about 14-inches( estimated ). I still remember how amazed I was at the size of it and yet, it would be dwarfed by yours!!!

    Congratulations!

  5. Personally, I've only used live minnows on a spreader set up. Lively minnow, I think, enduce more strikes. Plus, if you have your tip up set up reeeeal sensative, you can watch the minnow action transmitted on your tip up. It starts to bounce around slightly, especially when whities come nosing around and making the minnows nervous.

  6. Hey, Goodluck with your efforts to conquer Bronte Blakewalk. I used to fish the mouth in the winter years ago but haven't given it a go for a while now since I started heading to the Niagara area for winter trout.

Anyhoo, have you tried floating for 'em? There was a group of use that fished the inner harbour and we'd fix our floats so the spawn sacs ran just off the bottom( As I recall, it usually meant suspending the float about 10 or 11 feet up the line ). Light line and tiny, tiny hooks got us into a few bows.

    Goodluck!
