Nice Musky man!
-
This summer I used a 1/0 Lazer Tro Kar drop shot/circle hook. Worked well and got the fish hooked right in the top of the mouth every time just like this average senko bass. Caught lot's on these hooks and they are still sticky sharp. Great hooks IMO, MTBF

Hmm, are those the white rods I saw at Gagnon's? They seemed nice man, haven't looked into them too much. I'll most likely settle for another Croix but I'm in no hurry. I'll use what I got for this season then it's all winter long purchasing for the boat, motor, trolling motor, fenders, paint job,etc...I'll have my money tied up or I'll just pocket a few bucks every week and go on a spree in the early spring lol Either way, $500 for another rod/reel wont be necessity until next year. I'll prob just stick to my another legend tourny/curado setup. Great rods and reels.

Appreciate the post, I agree. That 7 was soo little for throwing jigs. with that 7'11 rod it felt nice and still didn't seem too long. Although not a rod for jigs the length felt nice.

Things I never knew, very good read. Thanks for sharing

No I need a 7'6 lol I'm a 6 tall dude

I like pitching into holes in weeds, deep edges off rocks with logs and weed close by, i love pitching out into lilly pads and around docks. Used 3/8 and 1/2 jigs mostly on 50lb braid. I got the hand of it on a 7'H but I felt like i needed more length on the rod so I can throw more line out rather pitch the jig out and raise the rod up quickly so more line would strip off the reel. A 7'6 give or take would be great, I liked the short heavy rod but not sure if a 7'6H or MH would be better Hirk

Awesome shots...wow

Hey guys, got another question for ya. Was at Gagnons in Oshawa today and was holding a bunch of rods. A few that got my attention was both the 7'6MH St Croix Legend Xtreme and Legend Tournament rods as well as the 7'11MH Cumara by Shimano. With a 7'11MH rod is that still in the norm for a flippin stick. I like the price of the LT and the Cumara but would love to spend the extra 50 on the Xtreme. The purchase is still in the air but does anybody use that Cumara for flippin?

I tried Seguar Red Label fluorocarbon and didn't like it very much. Although affordable I won't buy it again. Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon is expensive but is worth the price. I used 15lb on my spinnerbait rod and enjoyed the line very much. Handled very well and is still long casting.

Need electric trolling motor...small, light, cheap

I'm picking up the new Motor Guide Vari Max 45lb's Thrust. It's awesome on power and will give you a awesome multi speed setting with even better use of power. Think there 3x better on power use then normal trolling motors. Have a look, MTBF -
Great Salmon in the 2nd picture. Love the brute size and power they have on those runs they take. Thanks for sharing, MTBF

My Summer of Fishing July-Now Report

Steve and I will be having our trip in October some time. It's a secret but look for it, were gonna catch some biggins Lol I'm 6ft and big bone I caught lot's of fish that were in the 3lb class. The lake record said by the locals was only 6lbs believe it or not. I guess it doesn't get fished very much in October by anybody. Might be worth it to fish again in the fall, I had 2 bass that were very long and skinny, if feeding would of been a easy 6 and possibly a 7 in the fall. 22" and a 23.5" It's just a normal Kodak camera I am pretty sure. I don't think the lense comes off but I could be wrong. It's a Kodak Easy Share Z7121S....On the lense it says Variogon 36mm-432mm with a 12x Zoom. Nope, back in Oshawa All of the bass caught on jigs were fat. Only 2 or 3 were fat and caught on frogs but most were skinny. Skinny fish related to flats with thick weeds, fat fish were on rock walls with weeds and wood. -
I found this year that fishing in the rain is the best with a spinnerbait tied onto your line. On opener Rick and I caught crap loads of bass with lot`s of 2`s and even 2 nice 3`s. I got to fish in the rain again when I was out at my uncles this summer twice. Although I didn`t cover as much water I still caught bass on spinnerbaits. Give it a shot, Mike

Congrads man, what a beauty

My Summer of Fishing July-Now Report

Thanks for all the comment guys and girls, love reading everybody's posts. I hope I put the trip into good viewing for all to see. Never got that 6lb fish I was looking for but hey maybe this fall I'll get onto some more pigs! -
I like your idea. That's about all the deck is right now it a gathering of Ideas. My main goal is to have a brand new motor put in next spring and a new trolling motor for the rear of the boat. I am saving all year and will be putting money from work into it also. I think I'll be putting on a new 6hp Merc at the lowest power motor but have my eye set on a 8hp Mercury Outboard. A 8hp and a new Motor Gide Vari Max on the transom will be a handsome match. The boat will have a paint job done in a few weeks and I'll post pictures of it. Black on the outside and white on the inside, it will be re sealed and hopefully will have some stain on the wood bench tops. Anyway this is a little project of mine and a boat I have fished out of for 2 years now. I love it and will like the improvements a lot more.
-
Nice fish, you will get the hand of it soon enough. It produces some big bass!
-
Here are 2 pictures of the boat Scugog. It's pretty simple. The paint job will look awesome as well as some little rod holders, fenders for the sides a purdy merc and a new trolling motor for the arse end. Might stain the wood under the seats also. I'm very comfortable in it and love it's stablilty even when having fun hitting waves from other boats

Love the quality of the photos buddy, great catches and congrads on the PB Love how "up close and personal" you can get with a canoe man. Thanks for sharing, MTBF

Hey Guys and Girls how is everybody?? Well for the past summer I worked full time for 2 months then after that in July I made my way out to visit some family and get some summer project work done for Fleming College, I have been out in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands. If you know the area you know its beautiful territory for bass and a destination to spend the summer. As always I had my camera on every trip out in the boat. It was a awesome summer and I learned lot’s more about bass fishing and the joy of the sport. Here are a collection of photo’s and memories from my trips this past summer. I caught lot’s of fish at the start but finding bigger fatter bass for me in most locations consisted of rock, weeds and deep water. I picked up a bunch of healthy 3lb+ fish on jigs and snag proof frogs in weeds or on edges close to water up to 20ft deep. It’s cool how some of the drops on this lake and the joining canal can produce such awesome looking structure. Now being said I caught fish on the big heavy bait cast stick but I also took time to fish finesse baits in deeper water and also a little pike fishing here and there Here are a couple nice photographs of stuff. Well on to the fun stuff, first off I have a few fish from a body of water and a few more pictures I want to share before I get onto the many, many bass pics. Basically here are some pictures of a lake never photographed or hardly fished except by a local here and there. The lake is not easy to get into. First you need to cross the main lake, then make your way paddling through a creek like swamp…maybe 8”deep at the most, lol. Over the dozen or so logs and 15minutes later I come up to a beaver dam, once the 12ft boat, motor and all are over we are in awe…just looking at this small lake was awesome. It’s called Mud Lake and the average depth is 2ft deep with a mud bottom. As a experiment I dropped my anchor into it with 20ft of rope and it never reached bottom. Being a unpreserved fishery fish were aggressive and always hitting lures, it was fun. Here are a few pictures from the trip in and a few of the fish we caught in the pond. And last here are a bunch of pictures of some better than average bass. Most fish are close to 3 or bigger. Here we go! The 5lb 8oz Well that’s it, all said and done. Anyway, it was a great time for bass fishing, hope to post up a few more “day trip” reports bass fishing this fall. Thanks for reading and/or skimming through the pictures, MTBF Rods: 7’H Action St Croix Legend Tournament Bass (Casting) 6’9” ML Action St Croix Avid Series (Spinning) 7’2” MH Rapala R-Type(Casting Reels: Shimano Curado 200E7 Shimano Symetre 3000 Rapala R-Type Baitcaster Baits Used: Senkos Booyah Pigskin Jigs Strike King Premier Jigs Terminator Spinnerbaits Snag Proof Frogs Husky Jerks Fin Tech Shakey Jigs w Berkley Chigger Craws And one of my favorites, a picture I shot after a rainfall 2 hours ago

After I get a little motor and a new electric I think I'll put my boat to rest as far as upgrads. The deck was a decent idea but I think you all are right. After asking what it's like up front standing to my dad it seems fine as it is. Just new paint, power and some trinkets and handy things and shell be good for my next few years of bassin. They say bigger is better but hey I still get it done pretty good out of my baby
