glad to hear the ice is comming along so nicely! A few of us are definately making the trip down this weekend! Can't Wait!!!

Man that was a brute for sure! What sucks now, is that were gonna be fishin all winter long tryin to beat the size of that fish! lol But that's alright...I'm always game for a challenge!

Well I just found out the other night that were gonna have an open bar all day everyday that were there...I guess our little tourney has some sponsors, one of which is Sleemans. Were also having a poker tourney & an air hockey tourney...so even if the fishing does suck, I'm sure it'll be a good time! But like I said before, I'm bringing my portable, my own auger, & my flasher unit...so I can venture off from the rest of the pack in search of fish! I'll definately post a report when we get back, & hopefully there will even be a fish or two in it! LOL Thanks for all the replies, keep 'em commin if you got'em!

Oh ya, it was definately a blast with the UL tackle! I was fishing out of an 8" hole...so I had a lil more leeway to get his head up! & No, I didn't eat him...he's back out there waiting to be caught again sometime!

Went out ice fishin for crappie & gills on Sunday...& ended up also getting a suprise pike! Awesome fight on the UL setup!

My store finally got them in...but they were definately NOT the Nautilus suits I was expecting...the were an all red suit with a it of grey, branded the name "Keep A Float". Needless to say I was not impressed...so I went out & bought the Helly Hanson Delta one piece suit instead!

Yes, we are staying at the lodge. Father in law invited me to go...i guess they have a mini tourney..kind of a fundraiser for our local Kinsmen club.. so I thought i'd check it out! That sucks the fishing/outfitter was so horrible for you...I hope it's not that bad this year. BUT....I'm definately bringing my own auger & my portable, so I can at least move around a bit! And since I didn't know the name of the lake until yesterday...it really sucks to find out that lakers are closed when i'll be there! Does anyone have, or know where I can get a hydrographic map of the lake? At least then I'll have an idea of where i should start fishing! Thanks for the replies

I called today & was told they should be getting some in on the 14th....so I guess we'll find out

The employee gave me no information about when they were going to get some in. As a matter of fact he didn't really seem that interested in helping me at all! I did recieve a raincheck..But only after I asked for it!

If you check out the CTC website, the suit has a patch on it, which looks like the Nautilus logo. BUT... Good luck finding one of the suits in stores, I went today in St Thomas & as usual, they didn't have any...But I got him to check for other stores & absolutely no stores in London/St.Thomas or surrounding area have any in stock whatsoever!!! So if that's not misleading, I don't know what is!!! Thinking about contacting Head office & complaining....how can you have a sale/advertise an item that none of your stores even have??

HAHAHAHAHA...that place is a f....n crock! You want sales? Just wait till ice season & try buyin some minnows! If you can afford them!!! I'll never step foot in that store again....I'd rather go completly baitless then ever buy from them again!!!

I bought the Marcum VX-1 last year & I am quite satisfied with the unit, but it doesn't come with a soft pack & I'd like to get one for it! I've looked on Marcum's website & they don't appear to have one for it...does anyone know if/where you can get one? Or, if a Vex soft pack would fit??

There's still 13 days left! My suggestion is to get out there a few more times!! lol Then I'd have to agree with others.....STEELIES! Then dust off your snow suit & get ready for some ice fishin!! There's plenty of fishin to be had year round & in between the seasons!!

I have the 4 man & it's really not too thin, it is suprisingly warm inside. It is a bit of a pain in the ass to set up (exactly like a tent).. & it really isn't that great in the wind! To sum it up it's basically just a glorified tent with the bottom cut out! But it's better than nothing!! I got mine & an 8" auger for $50, in my opinion unless you get a good deal like that, save your money & go for a better one!

Wal-Mart here sells 150 yd spools of Power Pro for $14 regular price...& it's on sale now for $11 a spool! I've been to Bass Pro in Vaughn a few times now & except for the first time (as it was my first time to Bass Pro), I haven't been overly impressed! Although I will say the selection/layout is by far superior to Bass Pro in Auburn Hills. BUT....tackle is so much cheaper in the states!!! I'd recommend adding a few chatterbaits to your list...I started using them this year & have had good success with them! Get a few in-line spinners as well, you can catch pretty well any fish that swims with them....always good to have a few handy! I prefer the Mepps XD...which for some reason are getting harder & harder to find...but are definately worth it when you do!

WOW, I really wish they'd have programs to remove alot of the carp from around here! I agree whole heartedly that they ruin spawning grounds, habitats, structure, water clarity, etc. I'm not saying to remove them entirely, cuz they do put up a good fight from time to time, but i think something should be done to thin out their populations! Maybe have a big province wide fish cull & introduce sterile fish to the remainder of the population!!! This would hopefully slow down their reproduction & yet still provide fishing opportunities for the carp fisherman out there!!! Honestly i think that what happened to Scugog, the Karwartha's, & Simcoe was great for the other fish species!

This GTG sounds great & it just so happens my buddy & I were plannin a campin/fishin trip for sometime in September...I'll pass the information on, but I think it's safe to say you can count at least 2 more in on this!

I'd start by taking it back to the store. A local dealer around here is usually pretty good for replacing the rod with one of his own, & sending the broken one in himself! & If that doesn't work, send it in to St. Croix, you should have no problems getting a replacement...you just pay for the shipping. But i wouldn't expect it back for a few weeks. St.Croix is pretty good on their warranty's!

Congrats to a beauty fish! How were the water conditions? With the rain the other night, I would have thought the Thames would be blown out!

"red is the first colour to disappear in the colour spectrum... making the hook invisible, or so we are supposed to believe.. I have yet to do any research on this... but are the claims of red being the first to disappear infact true?" I have actually heard different, i've heard that red is supposed to be the first color a fish can see! Either way, Strike King makes a quality spinnerbait...you won't be dissappointed!
