I took a customer out to Rice Lake today, with Greg Klatt as our guide. Had a great day hammering both largemouth and smallmouth bass. As mentioned before, if you are looking for an alternative activity for entertaining your clients, or if you want a good lesson on fishing, don't hesitate to contact Greg. I'll probably be booking him again in September or October. The highlites of the day, aside from Greg's constant hauling in of fish, were a 4+ LMB caught by my customer, and an incidental walleye that I caught mid day. Pictures attached.

I had no idea that bowfin put up such a nice fight, but man are they ugly. Good thing I got lip grip. I know the figures sound inflated, but it was one of those rare occasions where it wasn't called fishing, it was called catching. Cheers!

Went out to Cooks this evening and had some more non stop action. The body count was 14-15 pike, 8-9 LMB's including a 5lber, 4 Bowfin, and a bunch of panfish. Once again, everything was caught on Northam Spinnerbaits.

I stand corrected.

Had a great day of catching on Cooks Bay on Saturday. Caught app. 8-9 hammer handle pike, 4-5 LM Bass, and a surprise catch, my first Ling. The majority of fish were caught using a Northam Fishing Spinnerbait. I've been using their spinners since late last season, and I'm hooked. Great product, great service, and they are Canadian made. Here's the pic of the Ling, and a pike my neighbor caught using a spinner as well.

I focus on the saltwater fishing while I'm down there, primarily from the beach. There are some monsters lurking pretty close to shore. This 15lb snook was caught off of the beach last summer.

I'll be down in the Clearwater FLA area the last two weeks of August. I was wondering if anyone from the board will be in the area, and wanted to split a fishing charter. I'm flexible with inshore, offshore, or species, I just want to split the costs. Cheers!

Where is the launch in Beaverton?

If you ask ten people, you will get ten different answers. You may want to narrow your research by identifying a specific lake and a specific species of bass. A couple of good sites: http://www.bassresource.com/fish/tipsindex.html http://www.ontariobassfishing.net/ http://www.bassintips.com/ The quickest way to learn is to go out with someone who already has the skills. Nothing beats time on the water. If you don't mind spending a few bucks, go out with a pro for a day. There are a few pro's that frequent this site that also have their own charter business. If this is an option you can try Greg Klatt's, site below: http://www.profishntanglingservices.com/#Bass%20Fishing He gave me a couple of lessons on smallies last year that would have taken me a while to learn on my own. Good luck

It won't be widely available for another 1-2 weeks. You must have connections. Let us know how they work, I've heard great reports from down south.

LB's carries the Shimano Stimula for $16.00 a piece, if the sale is still on. At that price I picked up two, one medium heavy for pike and bass, and one medium light for pan fish. I have a variety of low end and higher end Shimano rods, and they have never let me down. If it makes you feel better, I've caught a ton of huge fish on my cheapo Shimano rod. 2 x 5lb Smallies, and a 35lb Musky. Good luck!

Nice bass! I hope the elitists don't give you hard time for eating a bass. Bon Appetit!

Congrats! That fish you gave away looks like a red snapper (no jokes please), one of the finest eating salt water fish. Nice report.

scam.. I saw a nice 50K+ bass boat listed a few weeks ago for under 5K. Be careful

I'm considering purchasing a 1996 Mariner 115HP outboard. Apparently this 4 cylinder motor only uses 2 cylinders when running under 20kmh, and 4 cylinders over 20kmh. Have you guys heard of this before? What are your opinions on this motor? Please and thanks

The kid wasn't hurt. I thought it was hilarious. Hopefully you will see some humor in this one: http://www.break.com/index/sheep-wearing-s...cares-herd.html

If the roles were reversed and the Leafs were in the finals (wishful thinking), I'm pretty sure that the rest of Canada would not be cheering for them, therefore Go Ducks Go.

All my pike were caught with a red and white spinner bait. DON'T FORGET TO USE A TRAILER HOOK. The pike were still fairly shallow, and were hugging structure close to shore. Good luck!

Just got back yesterday from our annual fishing trip. This year we decided to change it up and stayed at the Comeau Chalet at West Nipissing Resort, based on the research I did both on the internet and on this site. I have to say this was by far the best fishing trip that we have had to date. The chalet was incredible, with all the amenities of home. Beautiful screened in porch, deck, private dock, great fishing boat, games room, etc. etc. The fishing on Thursday and Friday was very limited, as there were very high winds that limited our access to the lake, however, we did manage to pull out a few small pike. The majority of fishing was done on Saturday. We had a nice haul of pike, catfish, 1 OOS incidental SM Bass, and my first Freshwater Drum. If you're looking for a great spot for your fishing trip, or for the family, I highly recommend West Nipissing Resort. Ian, who is the owner of the resort, lived up to his reputation as a wonderful host. He will definately be seeing my business for years to come. Thanks to all the OFNers that provided me with the tips and info for Nipissing. I will be posting a few pictures shortly. Cheers
