  1. C Check out Jeffs Maps @ http://www.algonquinmap.com/ Great maps with all the distances on them. We have done many out of Cedar and Brent. There are in and out trips or loops to do, your pick. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I'll give you all the answers I can.
  2. Not all of them. Lots of trees down across the paths as well. Tough to navigate.
  3. Not a bug in sight! Gotta like that lol
  4. And the fish start to flow!!! Brookies and Lakers were biting awesome. Had a full on blizzard on the Sunday afternoon but kept fishing all the same. Nice to get back in the quiet of the Park, not a soul around the entire time. Paddled out the Nipissing and back to Cedar May have to do a fall trip.
  5. The opening of the park was delayed but we still got in for an epic 5 day run. Normally we do more but the delays played havoc with the guys work schedules. Friday morning we were ready to push off the shore of Cedar lake at Brent and paddle across to the Petawawa River to start our first portage. One of the portages up the Petawawa is Unicorn hill and has a reputation for being a killer, Got to admit it lived up to it at 2.4km long and uphill. Of course we had to do it twice with the amount of gear we had. But after the climb and 7.2km of Unicorn hill we felt great to be done with the toughest part of our trip. Set up at camp
  6. Yup, sounds like he's thrilled alright. I think that is his way of saying "Oh s__t he we go!" Maybe he'll pull off a Lindros
  7. Why would anyone want to start their career with a loser? And the laffs certainly set the bar in that department.
  8. Actually I think it's rather comical how all the laffites get giddy over a draft pick. But I guess if your team has given you nada, ziltch, nothing, zippo in the last 50 years (not a typo) lol then anything is worth getting excited over!
  9. I wonder how long it will be before they lose the pick, trade him or he asks to be traded??
  10. Brent Road access #27 is not open until Friday the 6th
  11. Yes, they have moved it u to May 4th from the 6th for almost all the park. Some areas will be last minute decision though. The Algonquin ice out site has been updated to the 4th as well. http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/news/2016/2016-04-13_delayed_spring_opening.php
  12. I have talked to Wendy at the park office. She said an ice out update will be posted late today or tomorrow morning. The new park opener date has been set for May 6th. No backwoods treks until then. Bummer!!
  13. Tomorrow will be the test on if it opens on the 28th! Fingers crossed.
  14. Oh and I was talking to one of the ranger cabin operators just Sunday and all roads in were still snow covered but they were optimistic that the 28th would happen.
  15. http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/news/ice-out.php This is the only site you need to know what you need to know about ice out in the park. It's updated frequently. I'v been doing backcountry trips way back in the park for many years and have been on lakes 2 days after ice out. When it happens, it happens quickly. Unfortunate thing now is it is still below zero at night. My guess is it will be very close getting ice out by the 28th. I sure hope so because my group has a trip out of Brent up the Petawawa booked on the 28th. Would really suck to have to reschedule. Not much you can do but keep checking the site for updates.
  16. Actually you guys went from winning the cup at the beginning of the year to bashing them shooting for last place to not saying a single thing. It had me worried the laffites had switch to curling or broomball or something. The Sens if anything are interesting any time they step on the ice either good or bad you never know what to expect lmao. And that draft pick, the laffs will probably trade him for a has been or underachiever if the win a couple back to back games thinking the cup run is on again!!
  17. Wow, 3 days since a post. You guys must really have had it with the laffs. The Sens win is anything but satisfying with the way the season has gone as well. Looks like the laffs will lock up last place so at least you got something out of the season. Hopefully Edmonton doesn't win the lottery this year. Sad state of affair for Canadian hockey when even the laffites won't jump into a little banter.
  18. Wow, actually kind of shocked that Reimer was let go and Bernier was kept. Bernier clearly hasn't shown he is capable as a #1 goalie. That said the laffs are really cleaning house, you would expect them to keep some guys as a foundation for rebuilding. I see the laffs going nowhere for at least 5-6 years or more. Would be nice to have some Canadian content in the playoffs. I personally won't even watch the playoffs if there is no Canadian representation. Sad
  19. Ok silly laffites! Ask yourself why would anyone want to play for the laffs. Seriously, think about it. Maybe Datsuk, Malkin, Crosby, Ovechkin, Karlsson, McDavid and all the stars are hoping to get a chance to play for the laffs. Get with it, the laffs suck, always have and always will. No one wants to play for them.
  20. You won't get an argument from me. I loath the laffs and Dion was one of them I hated the most. He was a pilon with the laffs and I don't see that changing. Why Murray traded with a team that sucks so bad is beyond me!
  21. Yeah, should win the cup by doing that!
