Short answer: Yes...too soon indeed

Been listening to the many versions of this song through the decades...think this one's my favourite...nothing like a bit of country Dylan.

Doesn't get any better than that

Discount bait and tackle is about 100 feet off hwy. 11 right in town, plus a few other options right in north bay but nothing in between

Never...and my fishing hero is definitely not a product-whoring TV host.

I bought my 2013 license and got my yellow card. My outdoors card was expired and am still waiting for it to come in the mail...it's been at least 5 weeks now.
I've been checked for my license twice now and the yellow card was sufficient [obviously].

We never did a proper tally of the fish we caught during weekend.
At least 20 eyes Saturday. And from what Chad was saying, another 30+ Sunday. Plus at least that many perch. A pike, 2 ling. Half a dozen Herring. What else did I miss?
That's a solid weekend no matter who you are!
haha yeah it's typically steady action between the yellow-bellies and the wallys to say the least. I eat rather well in the winter.

Awesome, as always Simon. When are ya gonna start exploring the backwoods for SPECKLES????
-
Awesome! More big splake. I haven't been out for trout in weeks, it's been hard to justify the extra gas with nipissing on fire right on my doorstep, but change is in order. I hear ya about being a little lazy with line checking. I tend to get content just sitting around the fire

Nine splake...

Eight...

Awesome weekend, of course. You missed your crack at the lingers today!
Love the way you've got your bravo decked out, dude!

Thanks for all the awesome replies! Going to use the foil blanket, as well as improve my current sleeping pad for some added ground clearance.

Do you have better luck with the salties, just figured live is better for walters ? we will be targeting the lakers Feb 15th
Salties will work fine, but live is tough to beat for the wally's.
Are you gonna be in zone 11 [laker opener].

I use a simple balance tip-up with light mono for most of my walleye and perch fishing. 1 split shot and a small excalibur treble works well [i always back-hook the minnow]
For bigger fish I use an insulated polar tip up. I spooled it with 40# dacron with a couple feet of 17# mono leader. Bigger treble hooks [sometimes 2] and much more weight if I'm fishing deep.

Man I want a whitie now

Bank up the snow as high as you can afford without jeopardizing the strength of tent. About 5-10 minutes before bed, start up the Coleman lantern. Leave your sleeping bag open for this period and place the clothes you are going to wear the next day between your sleeping bag and roll. Sleep with socks on and have a toque handy to put on as well. Don't forget a pee bottle so you don't have to go out side. You waste more heat and energy avoiding to go pee than to just suck it up and relieve yourself.
I will remember this. Thanks a bunch.

I have zero intention of keeping any gas appliances on overnight...I also won't be camping if by some miracle of winter it ends up being -40 during my stay out there haha.
-
12volt heater connected to a small solar panel and perhaps a small battery? truckers use them...minus the solar panel
I have slept in some cold weather.... but -40.... Brrrrrr... On a side note.. -40 is where Celsius and Fahrenheit are equal
Good luck!
haha! -40 means cheap hotel in Wawa...Haven't hit -40 at all this winter [-37 was the worst we've seen] so seeing it in late February would be quite unlikely.
-
Going to spending a couple days in LSPP towards the end of month. Forecast pending, we will be spending 2-3 nights on the lake, with Wawa as our fallback if the forecast is cold. Could go either way really.
This will certainly be my coldest camping endeavor. I know how to handle myself in harsh winter environments, just wondering what some of you may have done in the past [or tools you use] to heat your tent prior to entering for the night. We will have a winter tent [rated to -40 for what that's worth].

Brian, what are you saying?????
