  1. Ok fellas. As you can see there is 3 spots filled. My 3-year small game, 3-year fishing and last years deer. Those spots ARE your stickers. My card expires after the 3 years are up. You wont need or get any other stickers.

  2. I get my card online as well. The paper with your old card is legal i've been checked several times with the combo and there was no questions asked. It took me a long while to get my card...giving them a call wouldn't hurt.

  3. i'd let it sit out in the sun for a bit 1st off. If it is a vaccume thing, then the seal is air tight. Warming the rod should warm the air trapped inside, creating less pressure. At the same time the heat should make the oil thinner. After you have let it sit out for a while grab either side of a joint and twist and pull a little...with more twsiting then pulling see if she comes loose.

If that doesn't work we'll have to come up with something else. Just let the rod lay in teh sun on teh patios or something.....as long as it wont get stepped on.

  4. I bet that the Moria hasn't crested yet...there is a day or two lag time after a good rain before she hits peak flow. I heard the fire dept was running around trying to help people. Hope you were one of the people receiving.

  5. I love sucker fishing....i usually use a jig with a gob of worm. The jig should have just enough weight to get it down thought the current. Then put the jig RIGHT infront of their face. Can't wait till exams are over to catch a few around home.

They are FAR from the "roaches of the water"... i'm not sure where your home is, but there is probably a creek near your home with them.

    Good Luck.

  6. I was up in Minden on Friday for a few hours doing a little GPS-ing for the township as part of a class for school. Anyway, we stopped at Herrington park, just off Horseshoe lake road, and the water was high and flowing fast. I thought i'd share a few photo's and a video with you guys.

  8. If you can't make them pop your swivel maybe to heavy (if you use one)....there is almost 0 chance of getting a popper to work right if you use a leader.

I LOVE POPPERS!!! When bass fishing, they are one of my "go too" lures. Don't feel limited about what time of day you use them. i use them all day long if they are seeing action. I find the fish are more receptive to top water lures if the water is warmer.

There is a misconception that these things should only be used in shallow water. They can be used in any depth. One of my most memorable experiances involve smallmouth bass comming out of 18 feet of water to hit poppers. We were in 30" of water and were marking suspended fish. They came up to hit in NO problem...they get some speed up from that depth lolololol

Anyway don't feel limited. They work great everywhere i've tried them.

METHOD is very important when using poppers....or any floating topwater bait. When it hits the water let it pause...and i do mean PAUSE. 3 seconds should be a MINIMUM. There has been times where i have waited over 5 seconds before i start to retreive it. The impact is like ringing the dinner bell, and letting it sit their is like a holding a steak in front of their face. Once you start retreiving, play with it a little. Very the pasuses between "pops" and see what works best. I'm not sure if it's even possible to let them pause for too long. Take it slow. It's supposed to be an easy high calorie meal for the fish so make it look that way. Some times little twitches are enough to set off a strike, other times largre chugs get action. If you get a strike and the fish doesn't hook up....let is pause then pop and give an extended pause again before resuning your retreive. Topwaters are one of those things you fish all the way to the boat. One of my dads biggest smallies came from right beside the canoe...i could have reached out and touches it when it hit.

Poppers by far are my favourite form of topwater fishing. i use poppers on my spinning gear, and minitures for my fly rod. there is lots of lures to choose from. Chug-bugs, the Rebel popper, and the rapala skitter pops are all favoutires. If you are having trouble "popping" an easy solution is to beef up the popper you are using...chug-bugs are great for solving that problem.

One of the biggest things to keep in mind is that lures work in more ways then they are advertised for....every year some of the biggest bass my dad catches comes from dragging a popper behind the canoe as we paddle.

I hope you learn to love them like i have.....there is nothing like seeming a smallie crush a popper. lol

  9. Water temps is what i was thinking as well as soon as i read this. A late spawn might be good for them. A common problem thats been occuring the last few years is the eggs are deposited, then we get a rainey cold snap. That is NOT good for egg/fry survival. A later spawn may increase the survival with warmer days present. High, cold water might not be ideal now, but it may prove to be benificial yet.

Here's hoping for a stong cohort this this year....populations all over could use one.

  10. Well man THAT sucks....no two ways about it. They have been getting flooded along their as long as i can remember, Foxboro gets pretty wet too. I don't know whose bright idea it was to let them develop the flood plain, but that guy should be strapped to one of the trees in your backyard and see if might be able to come up with a few reasons why it was a bad idea.

That's why belleville has all the dams in it to begin with....they built half the city on the river's flood plain....my elementry school was built one flood plain....you want to talk about a school full of wet, stinking kids in the spring lol

I hope everything works out. Keep us posted.
