  1. There are a few things not mentioned:

    -prop size and pitch

    -boat weight and type

    -you are on plane right?

someone may want to clear this up: at WOT 50HP is 50HP....2 stroke or 4...its the power output....2 strokes usually have a bit more pep I think

my manual was pretty spot on in telling me mt boat/prop combo would go xmph....34mph for a 40hp on a 16ft tin.....I could change props and do as much as 53mph (but I will never try this).

  2. just for the record

    FTA never goes down

but if you use the receiver to get bell or dishnetwork, they do spend lots of money to send ECM to shut down the people getting it without paying for it...

and they do it more then every two months

I am not talking about Bell or Starchoice....

  3. My recommendation:

    1) Keep Bell for phone. The other companies are awful

    2) Ditch Bell DSL for Tekksavvy. It is cheaper and better.

    3) Ditch Bell Satellite, live off OTA and if you choose FTA and torrents (FTA goes once maybe every 2 months).

    4) Call up Rogers and tell them to smootch your buttj, even if they don't provide service to your area.

  4. I hear what you are saying Gerrit. The MTO can be a real pain in the butt due with their no solution solutions; silly me never thought of cheating :P. What about the notary....I was told that that is required. Did you get yours without a notary?

  5. I was out on Balsam lake on Saturday with my HotMaps Premium 2007 Canada in my Lowrance 332c.

I noticed that the depths were all wrong. All were over by anywhere from 20 to 50 feet. So if I was in 6' of water according to the sonar and paper chart, the Hotmaps said 26 feet.

When I got home I sent an email to Navionics customer service and they replied saying they would reprogram it for the cost of shipping to US. Return is free only in the US, so I don't know how much I be charged for that.

This could add up to be quite expensive from past experience with UPS across the border.

So if anyone has Hotmaps Premium 2007 Canada, you might want to talk to Navionics.

(BTW the Great Lakes East Gold is fine)

What about taking it back to the place that sold it to you? There has got to be a place up here that will do warranty work.

UPS will charge $25 as a brokarage fee.....there would not be duty or taxes.

  6. He has no paperwork on the trailer... therefor no paper trail... it is "homemade"

    :)

    G

The MTO might buy that if you dressed up like your Avitar and did that jig while proposing it. :clapping:

If there is a VIN on it, it is not homemade and can be traced. If it is homemade then a notary has to affirm to it.

  7. yeah pretty much.....you're gonna get it dropped anyway....either they'll reduce the fine or they may drop one tag and have you plead guilty to the other. Your best option is set up a meeting with the crown prosecutor....it's one of your option on the back of the provincial offence notice.

The word from the traffic ticket paralegal guys is that the meeting with the crown prosecutor is a waste of time that is just used to waste the ticketed persons time:

Maybe the cops will not show up, this used to work for traffic tickets.

Hope it works out for the original poster. $430 is steep.

  8. ... if you have ZERO paperwork on the trailer, tell them it is homemade..

    get you're ownership..

    You're all good now.

    G

Hold on there little blue feller. There is a whole rig-a-ma-roll associated with the trailer.

What happened to the trailer paperwork/what is the history on the trailer?

  9. hate to break it to you....that means nothing....absolutely nothing because your papers have to be produced on demand...not 24 hours or 6 months later, same with the flash light.

so why did the cop suggest bringing the items to court? For a reduced fine?

Hey Forrest, not to hijack a thread, but just about any marina should carry mast lights.

I lost mine in my travels and had to buy a new one... it was 35 bucks for a 42" mast, not too bad. I got my from deerbrook marina around Belle River.

I bought one, but, mine has a funny fitting. Have to dig around a bit more I guess or replace the whole setup.

  10. You don't need ownership, but a copy of the registration papers you got when assigned a number. Copies can be obtained through a service canada office. If your boat has no numbers, no papers needed.

Ownership papers are required. Its the bill of sale.

I just got my numbers and they told me to have both, it is stupid. The bill of sale can be any ragged piece of paper.....your best bet is to go to Service Canada and pay the $15/swear oath.

PS: maybe there should be a faq or checklist made by some one in the know.

  11. That crappie is HUGE! hope its survives the night...here is a site that has a couple of tips that you may be able to implement tonight:

    http://www.zeiners.com/tips/fishalive.html

There have to be a few more sites like this.

The stomach contents may need to be examined for it to be a record.

Contact the BassPro shop in Vaughn, they may want it for their aquarium if it's not too far from you.

Bass Pro would not be able to give him anything for it so why not let it go? I don't think its legal.

If it is an official record I think I read something about them freezing the fish and giving the champ a free replica. I am sure this info is in one of those links someone else gave.

  12. Well, I just looked over the motor, and yes the plugs are new, the fuel lines appear to be sound, however I am missing the lean rich adjustment knob at the center of the motor. Could it be that the motor is running too rich or too lean??

Anything is possible, fuel systems are tricky.....a service manual is your motors second best friend.

There is almost nothing worse than a man made problem, if its free, before anything gets messed up worse ask the dealer.

  13. It depends on what is more convenient to use. I like a bow mount foot control myself but others don't.

BTW that 4 stroker should be trolling down a LOT more than 3 mph. Are you sure you trolling gauge is accurate ? ? ? I have a 50 hp 2 stroker that will troll down to 1.8 mph

3MPH was a poor number. I measured that with wind etc. However, there will be times when I am going with wind and need to get only a little more speed (1mph?)....in that case I would have to use the bow motor for trolling.

Sinker: Do you use it for the peace and quiet or? Whats wrong with the bow?

    what to do?

  14. Well, the tire will read 2 different cold pressures: one with boat on the other with boat off.

Higher pressure means less tire wear but less grip on the road.

Less pressure means more tire wear and it will be harder to tow.

I am pretty sure that you don't need the extra grip for cornering (unless you drive extra fast with the boat on or on dirt roads a lot.

  15. Your new battery will only have as much power as the old one its attached to.

Unhook the old one, charge it alone, and then run the motor on 12V to see what happens.

CT can test your battery for free.

Yep, replace both at once, ALWAYS, it does not matter if the other old battery is OK. You will kill the new battery that much faster by keeping the old one in series.

Take batteries to CTC for load testing, they will also inspect the cells.
