  1. My question are........ 1) after it was very clear that fishtank was outfishing you by 7 to1 did you switch to a buzz bait too? 2) how massive is massive? stuntman
  2. Can't say for sure who has leeches and who doesn't.....don't they sell leeches in Timmins? If you are coming down the 400 try Bass Pro Shop. On the way you will also hit a few fishing tackle stores on the North bound side. There is a Lebaron's on Woodbine avenue, I know they have a vending machine for worms. If all else fails....try Gulp Alive..... Stuntman
  3. So does that mean if I get one big honking lure (with a minnow trailer of course). that would be legal? Anyone know how to water proof a coleman lamp and ad hooks to it? Stuntman
  4. I was down at the Oshawa pier a few nights ago 9:30-11pm. They were turning and 1 out of the 5 people fishing caught one that looked like 7lbs to me. Everyone was using those glow in the dark cleo's. On the topic of glow in the dark cleos. Is it legal to illuminate them with artificial light and then fish with them? Stuntman
  5. I fish with 2lb test tell everyone its 20lb test and crank the drag. I loose just about every fish but people always say "wow, that must have been huge to snap that line" Stuntman
  6. Just a tack on: It has been a little over 10 years since I tried to get cast aluminum welded. I don't think things have changed much. From experience, even it it gets stuck together and seems good, a weld will not hold up to any mechanical stress for long. Stuntman
  7. When I was 18 or so, with the exception of big rain, I fished EVERYDAY for 8+ hours for a couple of months. Near the end of those 2 months I was dreaming of working my rod and reel, riding the bus to fishing and riding my bike to fishing. over and over and over. It was hell, I decided to cut out fishing cold turkey and my sleep eventually returned. I am pretty sure a psychiatrist would have either medicated me or told me to stop fishing. On my deathbed I will still remember fishing myself sick and be somewhat proud of it. I guess too much of anything is bad. Stuntman
  8. Old style 2-strokes are out, new DFI 2-strokes are in. Environmental based law changes (primarily in the US) are pushing the change along. Here is one of the links I found: http://www.smartsynthetics.com/articles/fu...boardmotors.htm Stuntman
  9. the boat deals don't make it so easy to compare. I did come across a v14 (or was it a t14v?): http://www.alumacraft.com/utility_main.html do they have a good rep? stuntman
  10. Man, everything seems to be out near Hamilton! I live in Whitby
  11. I am not wearing a hat with a big "L" on it lol. "pay a lot" is a relative term, so I guess I will have to feel that out on my own Thanks for the input guys. Stutnman
  12. Manufacturers: 2-Stroke: Evinrude, Yamaha, Nissan and Mercury. 4-Stroke: Johnson, Honda, Mercury, Nissan, Suzuki, Tohatsu and Yamaha.
  13. thanks for the post Mike the Pike. Every time I see one of those Lund boats I think they they are the best things on the water.....one of those cant go wrong with companies. Then I look at the price tags...not that I wouldn't buy one...just cant afford it...lol Lunds is one of the names I am keeping my eyes peeled for. Stuntman
  14. OK...do some motor research is on my list. I used to own a dirt bike and learned about engines with it. I'd love a newer DFI model and think that is worth a few extra bucks, but thats not going to be a deal breaker. Are there any motor models/makes to stay away from? Stuntman
  15. This stuff was found in other lakes but not Scugog? The Scugog kill was Carp only? It sounds more likely that the Carp ate something that other fish stayed away from. Carp are not particularily weak fish are they? I think a Freedom of Information Act request is $5. Has anyone done one before? If someone goes to a meeting ask what tests were done and post them here. With the knowledge of what to ask for the documents can be asked for/obtained. Then again I am certain that there is some newspaper reported is all over this story. Is there? Stuntman
  16. so you are saying treat the motor as dead unless I see it work with my own eyes? What does a motor need to run? Does is always have to run submerged? Stuntman
  17. If there is a post for this already I have not found it but if someone posts a Link I will follow it: I have never bought a boat. i am a smart guy and know enough that I probably have "sucker" written on my forehead when it comes to buying a boat motor. Can I get some advice? Is it better to buy in the winter? just a guy who does not want to end up getting reeled in, Stuntman
  18. Hey All, I have been combing the internet and local adds for a barebones aluminum 14ft-16ft boat. I have some sites I visit (including this one) and hope to get some more leads on where to look. This is what I have so far. Kijiji.com craigslist.org Buysellzone.com http://forums.fishontario.com/thread.jspa?...43&tstart=0 Here of course. any more places I should be looking? I have only found 2 places to put a hitch on my vehicle Uhaul and Canadian Tire. Canadian Tire was gouging and Uhal......well I am a bit leary. The 3 local mechanics dont do this. Anyone know of a place east of TO that is good? Stuntman
  19. I know this is a forum about fishing....but I will bite. Whats wrong with what you have now? To be honest, the description of the equipment you have is too vague. "Techniques 5.1,,,100watts per channel" and "Paradigm Sub I think 250 watts" mean squat. Even in a stereo forum no one is going to be able to give you a good answer even if you gave model numbers. For example I am not a fan of any Cerwin Vega speakers, and can think of 5 brands I would buy before Cerwins. On the other hand others love them and I sold many in my time as a salesman (now ex-salesman) It sounds like your system is hooked up to a TV....big screens have really dropped in price. DVD audio sounds amazing (but never took off even though no one can say any thing but positive things about it). Then there is always more fishing equip to buy. Save the cash for a rainy day, boxing day or a day when you know what you want. Thats my opinion Stuntman
  20. Those are great pics jediangler....a picture says a lot. I can never rely on the manufacturer pics. Hope to hear from you bro, especially any of hte less safe situations that he ended up in that he would like to avoid again. Lake Erie and Ontario is out: I remember being on Simcoe in a solid 18 footer when a storm started up.....getting back to save harbour was the scariest 10 minutes I had in a long time. Small lakes, sticking to safe harbours and rivers are good for me, I am tired of missing out on all the potential fun I could have on a small boat. Stuntman
  21. OK...sorry to say this but silvio's and Tackle Busters(observation about river mouths) responses have been the only one of any substance so far (thanks silvio!). IF someone has a 2000 Honda Civic Sedan (not an Accord or some other car make) and tows a boat I will happily read your post and put some weight to it. Come on guys I am not looking for guesses. I am not about to risk an accident where my insurer can say that I completely disregarded and exceeded the manufacturers operating specs so big boats are out out out! Does anyone have experience with these small boats?: Jon boats and "Bass Hound" (a polyethelene boat) Stuntman
  22. I did not know about not being able to stand up on the boats as you stated glen. Unless its a canoe I am not a fan of putting a boat on my roof, especially since I would be doing it solo most of the time. Wow, I am not getting any fans of these small boats. I know they are popular in the states, but, maybe the lakes/rivers down there are a bit different. If I had the vehicle to to it I would rather drop $4000 on a 16ft that could do Lake Ontario and hold 3 or 4 people but my options are limited. Anyone bought a boat like the ones in the first post and regret it? Stuntman
  23. Some lodge in upper Ontario put their name on the pic and uses it for advertising. Wish I could find that pick and out those dishonest ****insert your own words here**** Stuntman
  24. I thought about inflatables like the Sevylor Fish hunter models but think I prefer something with a bit more of a solid feel. I know zodiacs can have solid bottoms and in an emergency deal with the rough water stuff. I did not see any financial benefit to getting a zodiac over one of the boats in the first post so I think I would prefer a solid model. Any other reasons I should consider a Zodiac? Stuntman
  25. My crummy car has a total weight limit in the manual of 800lbs!!! (Its a Honda civic that wont die) the good news is that I I have an excuse not to tow around large obnoxious inlaws. The bad news is that it severely limits my boat towing capabilities, I recon I can tow, trailer and all, about 450lbs. If I was solo I would not mind doing the kayak or pontoon fishing, but I am a social type of guy. So I have been looking at some of the following types of boats: http://www.fogdog.com/fog-kl-industries-ba...pi-2277228.html http://www.1stdirectproducts.com/crawjonboatb.html http://www.trackerboats.com/boat/index.cfm...y&boat=2265 I live right by lake ontario and some good salmon fishing but dont think it is a good idea to risky my neck in one of these. I also live about an our from the kawarthas so I figure that those lakes, including rice lake, might be more my speed. Can someone give me some feedback on these small flat bottom boats for fishing? thanks! Stuntman
