  1. I agree with you bernie the boat is usually run hard and put away wet for a few days or even longer when work gets in the way. The advances in marine lubrication and rust prevention on the lubrication side of the motor is really important. A friend of mine have learned that their is a difference between car oil and aircooled motorcycle oil the hard way. Granted he was racing and the engine was pretty wired up but the oil spectrum came back as scorched and coked. I think to pay the small extra for the special blend is a good investment when you are talking how much it cost to repair after an oil related issue.

  2. Awesome! I was thinking I could sure use something like that in a large "foul ground" near me, but at high speed I'd still hit rock shoals that are just at the surface or a couple of inches below. Still, if it were used to move slowly into the area, it would greatly reduce the chance of running aground.

The shiny rod-and-linkage that goes to the rear of the jet --- is that like a trim adjustment?

And when you turn at high speeds - does the boat skid, or does it turn normally?

That actually is the bucket that drops down to give you reverse. Since their is no gear box for forward and reverse you can be going 30 mph and shift to reverse and stop fast enough to clear the boat of people with no damage. The trim and tilt is the same as other motors and is the aluminum part bolted between the boat and motor. The boat skids like a jetski the turning force is strictly the water jetting out the back kind of like steering a wagon pushing it backwards. The trick to shallow water running is to be on plane if you are off plane then you are as deep as the weight of the boat displaces. It takes a little time to get used to driving but once mastered you can push a wall of water off plane ...shift to reverse... let it flow over the shallow riffle and then drive over the temporary depth you created. The only reason they are not used much up North is the pump(jet) loves to eat weeds and has to be cleared by hand to restore thrust. The weed factor down here is a lot less so the bad side does not otweigh the advantages. The cool thing about them is you can trim them up and send a firehose amount of water into your buddies boat then run for the shallows if he has a prop.

  3. I heard that jet drive boats both suck and blow at the same time!!! ;)

O great now I understand why you volunteered to check on my boat at night........that kind of gives me the heeby jeebys just thinking about the off spring of that union..........A really loudmouthed Redneck that can go anywhere he wants. :whistling:

  4. You got a picture of that thing, Art? ;)

Here you go I forgot they don't use these boats much up North. They are the bomb down here for shallow river fishing.

    jetboat001.jpg

It kind of hard to see but the scum line is were it sits while off plane it below the strafe on the lower bottom

    jetboat002.jpg

The boat is driven from the front of the boat with the driver in the middle..throttle on the right side and a air boat stick that you push forwards or back to go right or left

    jetboat003.jpg

Looking at the side of the motor you can see that the water intake on the bottom is level with the bottom of the boat of keep it from striking underwater objects

    jetboat004-1.jpg

The power head looks normal but it actually from the factory is a 60 hp power head because the jet loses 33% of its power due to the mechanics on how it processes water for propulsion.

This picture while is not a jet drive I figured I would kill two birds with one stone here.Pat here is the picture of The Fish and Whistle that I was telling you about

  5. he might be referring to the fact that the us coast guard rates boats for larger motors than the Canadian coast guard

so the same boat that can have a 150 in cnd can have a 175 in the us......must be the exchange rate

You are too dang funny Terry. I prefer to think of it as a goverment supported program to clean out the gene pool down here in the USA. I have fished from some of the go fast bass boats and the strongest memory was blasting off to the first hole in the spring and having ICE on the helmets........ If you have been to G2G at Lak Air you have seen my(loud) 40 HP jet drive outboard, it beats the 100hp plus boats to all of the good spots............it's not faster it only drafts 6 inches on plane so I get to travel in more of a straight line than you skeg running tiller/console boats.

  6. Sorry bud but I can't help you on this question I have only owned Mercury outboard motors and non of them over 60 h.p. I think Bernie is out your way if he is close enough and rep's then the E-tec looks pretty good with him as the Mechanic. I can help you if you ever need help with Chrysler 318's if I can get parts for them in the future....shudder dread....... pray.

  7. I have exchanged a few P.M. with Patrick Scott and after trading insight I think his future posts will be more informative with less incredible "facts" to support them. I have confidence that his 2nd birth on OFC will be much better.

  8. Good point Roy the chain makes a big difference. A lot of people think the chain is for abrasion resistance but it really is what gives the anchor the ability to dig the flukes in. I have a 28 LB plow anchor on a 7,000 lb boat and with the chain I have anchored out in 5ft waves without pulling free.

  10. Yes but the new money orders are bullet proof, the clerk has to type everything into the computer now and they have more security prints on the paper as well.

The point here is that Ebay is forcing people to use paypal, some people don't have credit cards or also refuse to use credit cards for similar reasons, just the fact they are that greedy is what gets me. Only 10% of ebay purchases where made via MO, but that adds up to millions of potential paypal profit for Ebay. I've also googled tones of very unhappy customers using paypal, apparently they don't like to deal with problems just like any insurance companies, they tell you one thing then when you actually need their help they do everything possible to not help.

I had a vendor sell me a set of carburetors and never shipped them. I went thru PayPal and they recovered my money within 30 days and closed the vendors account. It seems that when the seller gets paid from PayPal it is to his credit card/bank account and they are bound for 30 days for an automatic withdrawl if their is a protest. Being a buyer with Pay Pal is golden it's being a seller that would make me nervous.

  12. When I was 16 I spent 278 days of the year out in my boat bass fishing. Age is not necessarily any proof of fishing experience.

You are correct it is not the age that makes the difference it is the creditability that makes it so.

    Here is an example:

Fishing the Niagra Falls area by the Peace Bridge.

First of all I have found that the left side of the bridge on the USA side holds a lot better cover especially the area that leads to the deep holes were the current breaks are by the red buoy. I use a black spinner that has a gold feather body that is trolled fast and just below the surface. I have picked up some good size bass down river were the green buoy is along the edge were the rocks change more to a white color. I also have had great luck with the walleye bottom bouncing a yellow jig tipped with minnows along behind the bridge supports.

While all of this sounds good here is the rub.

The closest I have come to fishing that area is I drive across it on the way to Lake Nipissing. The information that I have given to anyone here is very broad with just enough detail for someone to waste a days fishing looking for the points I have given to back up my fantasy trip. If I presented this information as my own and professed that it was factual when it isn't then I have not done a service to anyone.

You will find that their are some people that over the years have given information on things that they have proven they know something about. If Bernie says something about a mechanical issue you can Bet I will take it to the bank. If you have a question on metals the you would do well to ask Wayne for an answer. When someone comes on the board and uses it for his personal play toy and continues to laugh at the people to see if they will swallow the next line of Bull then I will step in again and again and call them on their line. If you come on the board and speak the"truth" and embellish the size of the fish then you are a true fisherman... if you come on the board and make up a pack of lies and present them as factual with no creditability or are proved wrong with people who do have creditability then you deserve to be reminded that your Bulling and it isn't needed nor is it appreciated.

  13. There wasn't any nudity today because there was some pretty swift current from water being pulled thru the hydro turbines and I thought it would be a good idea to wear my PFD!

PFD tan lines.....Now that would be the ultimate Redneck tan. I would pay a dollar to see that Glen

  14. holy smokes are you kidding me... i want to help people out and they still bash me. every thing i have stated is 100% honest self opinion and found out.

i have been fishing all my life and have been going steady for 2 times a week for 4 years now. what do you have against me?

UMMMMM NO I AM NOT KIDDING YOU

My B.S meter is going off full blast and your previous posts are all geared to jerk people around. You have contradicted yourself so often that when you read your posts in order you can see the pattern of your editing of the world of reality. Your tone of your posts are to stir the board up and I have seen people like you before and have seen them leave many times over the years. My fear is that you will cause a good member who I do want to be around stop posting after he finds out he was suckered into a situation that he feels embarrassed about. I have you in the category of a kid who is bored and is jerking around allot of good people and laughing as the post count grows.

2 times a week for 4 years This is just one example of the Bull I read from you If you do the math here that is 440 times between the age of 12 and 16 "No drivers license and both parents work" and not even counting the down time of the frozen water times.

I think my claims behind my name are more likely than the Crap you are putting out. I am waiting for one of two things to happen either for you to get tired of jacking people and fade away or for the moderators to get to the point where you hang yourself and get locked down. The moderators hands are tied by politics..... mine are not so I can speak my mind and my opinions risking only my good name and my account here which so far has never been in danger.

I will finish with this and say I hope your posts change direction and you can prove me wrong and become a functional contributing non Bulling member of OFC. At the present time I will continue to read your posts and call you on any Bull if I feel you are jerking the chain of one of my friends on OFC. This post should make my position clear and I am not interested in bantering back and forth for your private entertainment. Fell free to P.M. if you want any more clarification.
