  1. Yes the marine has the same protection. I store over 145 gal of fuel between the 3 boats and it is the best for the job. My large boat has twin 318 and an aluminum fuel tank. So far in 4 years no water has been found in the water separators and the fuel from last fall was not varnished or discolored. I am betting over 40,000.oo worth of motors on it with my mechanics blessing.

  2. Q: How long will STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer keep fuel fresh?

    A:

STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer will keep fuel fresh for up to 12 months, guaranteed. Depending on the quality, type and

source of the gasoline, as well as storage conditions, doubling the dosage rate of STA-BIL could prolong this storage

time to up to 2 years. However, any gasoline stored for more than 12 months will tend to lose volatility (ignitability),

which could lead to hard starting or no start conditions after this long storage period. NO additive, STA-BIL included,

will prevent volatility loss in fuel. To reduce fuel volatility loss during storage, we recommend filling your tank at least

95% fulll with fresh fuel and STA-BIL, and store in cool conditions away from direct sunlight if possible.

If you forget to stabilize your fuel prior to storage and do experience problems starting your equipment after storage,

we recommend trying our StartYourEngines! Fuel System Revitalizer product.

  3. I'm honestly not surprised by this. Warrenty is the manufactures decission, not the retailer. By doing this it will help keep the cost of the rods from sky rocketing in price even more because of the abuse. ultimately everyone who buys shimano pays for that free one.

Most companies do it this way, or you can take it to where you purchased it to your retailer and they will send it for you (not sure on the Shimano). Oakley is another example of putting an end to their lifetime warrenty about 9 years ago. I'm bored of the style, ooops I sat on my glasses, warrenty.

  4. it is not the moving forward it is the RPM's are back to idle that count. Shifting at RPM's above 1000 will damage any drive train. You are expected to shift from forward to neutral then reverse. I am not saying that they don't owe you a repair but if their is physical evidence that you shifted it incorrectly just ask them to show you what part is broken and then get a second opinion.

  5. I have never been charged by my mechanic of 15 years either for a code. Just as Bernie said he treats people right and you treat him right you all come out ahead. You got to remember that if your mechanic knows he gets all of your work he will treat you fairly and you know the job is done right or if it has an issue you are his top priority. Forget the code scanner and strike up a relationship with a local mechanic it will be a better investment in the long run.

  6. Thanks for your responses. I can see how if you keep an eye out for really good deals and take your time selling it off, you could break even or maybe even do slightly better.

I never meant to imply that any of the sellers here on the OFC classifieds are doing anything they shouldn't. I don't suspect any of the merchandise featured there is stolen or in some way ill-gotten. Definitely (as some posters have said) when deals are struck it is a "win-win" for both parties. I just know that when I buy fishing equipment...I don't plan on getting rid of it until I lose or break it. Different strokes though, right?

Too be honest I'm a little jealous I don't still live down south so I could get in on some of the deals I see posted here. There is almost never quality used gear for sale up here in Sudbury. I guess a lot of Northerners have the same attitude as me when it comes to selling off their stuff.

I'm going to camp for 6 days...see you folks when I get back.

See now we are jealous of what you have. Free time to enjoy nature in your own backyard is some thing we can not buy . We have to make due with a few new trinkets to keep us going. Sometimes the grass is really greener on your side of the fence.

  7. If you are looking for a nav unit for driving go with the Tom Tom unit. I have a separate unit for the boats because it is strictly for the road. The unit has a lifetime upgrade and you can log in mistakes just as every other tom tom user is doing. The maps are way more up dated than any other of the units sold because of this.
