Well it finally came in the mail yesterday, my fishing license . I guess that this means that I'm finally a fisherman? I just wish that I could catch something bigger than a Sunfish So, to break in my new license I went out fishing last night after work 11pm-12:30am. The fish were there, I could see them with my flashlight and they were splashing and jumping like crazy. The only thing that I caught was a log under the water which resulted in a lost lure. A new one at that, just used it last night and after the third cast it snagged a log which I saw once I put the light on it. The kids think my license is cool and we will be fishing all weekend. Mostly for panfish for them, as long as they are catching then I'm happy. But I need to catch something or else I'll go insane Well I just thought that I would let you all know, Thanks Smokin

I would like to put my two cents worth in. I feel bad for these parents of the children that died but not all fast food places are the same. My wife works for a fast food restraunt and she has a play area also, but without a ball pit. She has also been at one that has a ball bit. Now, she ran both of these places and I know for a fact that she had her ball pit cleaned out every week, meaning totally emptied out and cleaned. She also has her play area at current place thourghly cleaned every week but also regular cleaning daily. But, like I said, not all fast food playgrounds are managed the same. My wife takes care of hers mainly because we too have kids and she wants them and other kids to be safe when playing in the playgrounds. That's my 2 cents worth, thanks

way to go bly, congrats on the salmon. Keep up the great fishing.

From my family to yours and your friend Kareem our thoughts and prayers are with you. Just try to stay positive and cherish every moment that you spend with him. Congrats on your daughters first day of school. It's just like pikehunter said "it goes by too fast". My son just sarted grade 1, but SK & JK went by way to fast, enjoy them.

I did have a lot of fun but that was just watching them fish. They had the real fun, considering that they were cold but they still fished. Smokin has a mental note "bring jackets next year"

We got the shirts just for being in the kids derby that Dave Mercer put on for the day. I'm tell ya that all of the kids made out like little bandits between the t-shirts and grab bags. We thanked Dave when we saw him when we were leaving for a great day. He's a great guy.

Tell your son way to stick it out. Eventually the big one comes and for him it was tonight. Great pics of him reeling it in dad. I find that when my kids start to get bored or discouraged I take the rod and once I hook one I then give them the rod to reel it in. Next thing you know they are fishing again. Congrats to your son. Keep up the good work.

Hi all, Well, all I have to say about today is BURRRRR. We were up early and the kids weren't to happy about that. But told them that we were going fishing today and that we had to take the Go Train to get there and "puff" they were dressed and ready to go. Weird how that works . So we headed out and should have gone back in for jackets instead of zipped sweaters. Got on the train and it was my daughters first time on the train and she loved it. Second time for son and he loved it too. Got to the Ex and walked to Ontario Place and once inside we found where the fishing festival was. The kids each got a Facts of Fishing t-shirt (which I put over top of the sweaters). They each also got a goodie bag and some worms. Goodie bags had a Bass Pro hat, a Little Mepps (looks like one) lure, stickers, Shimano sunglass holders, Yamaha lip balm with holder, Yamaha necklace key holder, Eagle Claw hooks, rod tie down rope, a floating fish and a pen. Lots of stuff. We then proceeded to the fishing spot which I found out wasn't stocked but still there were sunfish, rock bass, small mouth and catfish. There were alot of people already there but we managed to find a spot. Set up the kids with their rods but nothing for the first 30 minutes. Everyonce in awhile Dave Mercer would talk for a bit and he even walked around and greeted everyone and asked how they were doing. Eventually my daughter pulled in the first fish, a sunfish. 5 minutes later she pulled in another sunfish and a local paper guy gets some pics of her with the fish. My son caught nothing but Gobys, but he didn't care, it was fish. We eventually packed up and there was an outdoor boat show so we checked out the show. My son kept bugging me to buy us a boat. I said that we will get one when we can. We had lunch and then the kids had an ice cream, go figure. While they ate their ice cream we checked out the Chinese Lantern Festival that was also going on. Would have like to see that at night but way to cold during the day so staying for the night wasn't an option. We then headed back and we tried our luck again at the fishing but the kids just wanted to play. So I fished with my son's rod and I caught a few rock bass. A kid beside us pulled in a just under 2lb catfish, nice fish. We then packed it up and we headed out. On the way out we met up with Dave Mercer and he asked my daughter if she caught anything. She started counting 1-2-5 fish, Dave said wow lots of fish. He asked my son and he said 2, he is just too honest when it comes to fishing telling. Dave then signed 2 baseball like cards with his picture on them for them. They loved that. My son then asked him what the biggest fish he has ever caught. He said a 250+ shark. My son liked that. They also got a Facts Of Fishing Certificate just for being there for the day. We then got on the Go Train and we stopped at Union station and I took the kids to see the CN Tower. They have never seen it in person and they thought it was cool. Told them we'll go up it another day. We then headed home on the train and then we all had naps once we were finally home. Today was a GREAT day dispite the cold weather and I hope to get out with them again next weekend. Here's a few pics of my daughter with her fish and of the Chinese Lantern Festival. Bye for now.

Some people can be so stupid. I would like to see them tie him to the heaviest fishing line out there and go fishing for great whites. But I think that shark don't even eat scum. -
Hey all, Just a heads up for those of you that have kids that like to fish. There is a fall fishing festival at Ontario Place this weekend. It's Dave Mercer's Facts of Fishing for Kids Day. I will be taking the kids there. If you want to check out more about it then check out Ontario Place's website, here's the link http://www.ontarioplace.com/en/events/events.html All you do is show up with a rod and they supply the rest, even a rod if you don't have one. Also, every child gets a gift just for signing up for the kids fishing derby. It's from 10-3pm. If anyone here is going then maybe we could have an OFC meet up. Just suggesting. Hope to catch some fish and will post pics if we do.

My family has only been fishing since this past July and my kids (5 & 3yr old) already know that we always catch and release only.

Hi, we hope everyone had a great long weekend and fishing weekend. Like my previous post we were doing as good as we usually do and my kids wanted to go back to our favourite watering hole. So after breakfest we headed out to our spot and the conservation area was packed. But the fishing pond wasn't. There was a family in our usual spot, which my son wasn't to happy about but we fished off of the dock directly across from it. He was glad that we did because he got his highest catch number to date. He caught a total of 9 sunfish. My daughter also caught her highest number which was 5, sunfish. She has only caught 3 to date since we started in July, so she was thrilled about fishing today. She is already telling people that they were as far as her arms could stretch when they were really 5-6", what a fish story teller. Anyways, here are some pics. Here's my daughter's 1 of the day Here's number 2 Here's number 3 Here's number 4 I have some more pics. Not sure how you guys put on so many pictures, I have made these so tinyjust to get these four on here. I've cropped and made the image sizes smaller. But I can only get 4 on here. Tell me if I'm doing something wrong. I'll put the other pics on the next reply.

Hey there all, Well, today is the last day of the long weekend and I was just looking at the site to see how everyone has been doing. Pretty good by some of the reports so far. My son realized that this is his last chance to get a lot of fishing in this weekend because he starts grade 1 tomorrow and he's been icthing to go all week. So we went night fishing at a new watering hole that a buddy suggested on Saturday and we got skunked. He loves night fishing because it's just him and I out there but he doesn't like that we keep getting skunked. I keep telling him soon we'll catch them, soon. On Sunday my son, daughter and I went fishing during the day at that same water hole and man it was packed. So packed that people kept overcasting other people and some were getting mad at other people for hooking their lines. I was about to leave because of the other people and their atitudes and because it was to hard for the kids to fish because of the crowds. But then a family left a concrete dock and my kids took it over before anyone else could get there. So we fished there for about an hour. My son hooked 6 sunfish but landed 3 of them. My daughter hooked 2 but lost both on the way in. My son caught more fish that hour than anyone else that was fishing there, that I could see. So we made out there pretty good. When we left my son wanted to go night fishing with the whole family. So after dinner we all packed up and we headed to Lake Scugog docks for a late day/night fishing session. My son caught 2 Bluegills, my wife (with our daughters Disney Princess rod) caught around six fish, rockbass perch and bluegill. She wants me to get her a Princess rod for herself, she's hot when she use's that rod. My daughter caught her third-to-date fish, it looked like a bluegill. The only pic that I got was the one of my daughter with her fish, she didn't want to hold the rod so my wife held it for her. Well, that's my report so far, we are heading out today for one last fishing session and then it's back to school. I've told my son that we will try and get out on the weekends when weather permits. P.S. If you're wondering how I have been doing well I'll just say this BIG FAT 0000000'S. But hey, atleast the kids are catching right, that's all that matters to me. We hope that everyone else is having a GREAT weekend, we are. I tried to put a pic on but it won't UPLOAD the file. I'll try tonight because I know that we will catch some today.

Congrats on the wedding and fishing.

Hey all, I know that it is late and last minute but my family and I are going to Stouffville for the day and I was wondering if there was anywhere to fish? I ask because my son wanted to get out fishing on Wed, Thurs and Fri (my days off) but the weather was just to unpredicatable to take out a 6yr and 3yr old fishing. I did take him out Sat night till 11pm but we got skunked. I start work again sun night and like I said we will be in Stouffville for most of the day. So, if any one can help us then we would really appricate it, Thank you.
