  1. I noticed Bob didn't catch anything @ Grenadier Pond. Even though he's a pro fishermen, I think it's pretty hard catching Bass for everyone else as well.
  2. I went to grenadier pond today and around 6pm to 8pm, the fish were all acting crazy. They pretty much ate anything that dropped in the water, well only my stuff. There were about 8 fishermen there and I was pretty much the only guy catching fish non-stop. They were using worms and shrimp while I was using a piece of plastic the exact size of this little box [ ]. Anyways I broke my record of like 60+ pan fishes. Usually when I go there, I catch around 12-20. And today I caught my first black crappie! I didn't know there were black crappies and it was probably around 1.5 pounds. I was jigging my berkley honey worm under the barge I was standing on and BAM it just attacked my bait. Anyways it was a good fishing day. I hope everyone else had a strange day catching tons of fish, maybe due to the lunar eclipse.
  3. Stouffville is pretty close to Lake Wilcox, lots of pan fish action there and sometimes LG bass. The only problem with Lake Wilcox is lack of shore fishing. The lake is pretty much surrounded by private property and the only spot you can fish is beside the boat house with only one dock. I'm pretty sure the dock area will be empty on weekdays but on weekends, it's pretty much packed till the point where the dock starts sinking down.
  4. Jitterbug just before sunset will promise you a lot of top water action. Try the north east part of the lake around the weed bed area. I've been there twice. I can't seem to catch any fish in the deep part of the lake. I've used crank baits and stuff but no luck.
  5. Ah, my goal to end off my summer is to catch a bass or pike on my ice fishing rod. It may sound weird but I want to be one of the few to actually make it possible. My rod won't break for sure..I'm using 20lb line even tho it recommends 4-6lbs.
  6. I guess this addiction isn't as bad as drinking, smoking, drugs or gambling. Oh wells, I have to live with this I guess, I just hope it doesn't get in my way of school and becoming a graphic designer.
  7. Do you guys think you were born to fish or it's something you pick up when you discover your favorite hobby. When I was young, I could remember going to the creek and catching fish and stuff..I think I was born to fish.
  8. For some reason, fishing is always on my mind. Even when I go out with friends, I always end up brining the topic of fishing. And in addition to that, all the girls I talk to ask me how was my day and every time I talk to them I usually tell them I went fishing. Just 2 days ago I couldn't sleep due to the fact that I was going to visit Bass Pro Shop the next day. I don't know whats wrong with me, I just need to fish, it's probably as bad as a chronic smoker who needs a smoke. I even plan on fishing everyday after school when I start college this fall and my college is right near the lake front. Is there like a place to go just like for alcoholics. I need serious help. I'm even visiting this site every 2 minutes to see if someone posted a new report. The worst thing about my situation is, I don't drive and the only place I'm limited to travel for a limited amount of time is at Grenadier Pond. This Sunday is suppose to be great weather and I'm going to chill with a couple of friends @ Toronto Island and I'm just anxious to fish... I need some counseling. I'm pretty sure I'm more addicted than anyone here. Ah.. one day I just want to have a place of my own in front of lake -________-.
  9. I was at little lake on last Sunday and all I can say is, pure pan fishes everywhere. If you just want to catch any fish, I recommend little lake renting a pontoon. Fishing is best around 5-8pm. If you go there, I can give you the exact location of where I caught about 50 pan fishes within 30 minutes. My friend caught a pike using top water jitter bug bait around 7:30... but yea..little lake is OK.
  10. those 3 ponds look pretty gross. Every time I go there, I always picture all the waste from the washroom ends up in there lol =]

  12. I pretty much go on this forum everyday, probably like 10-15 times day lol
  13. thats true...lucky I didn't put it back. I used a float with it.
  14. I went fishing @ Little Lake, Barrie and I finally got to use my Berkley Power Honey Worms and I caught around 50 pan fishes which included sunfishes and perches within 30 minutes. This bait is worth the money and you don't have to change the bait. I never had to replace the honey worms and I think you could probably reuse it again in the future by putting it back into the jar. This beats worms. And also I caught 1 LM, but it was a small guy =]
  15. Today I decided to pick up some pan fish bait and bought my self Berkley Power Honey Worms & Squirmin Squirt. Has anyone ever used these baits, if so, please tell me your experience. <--- in green
  16. My brother and I decided to drive around and check out High Park and try our luck for bass/pike. We started fishing for 20 minutes at the wooden platform and nothing. A family was nice enough to give me a box of worms but I only used a piece of it on my ice fishing rod . There were a lot of people fishing, mostly for sunfish and they were all successful at it but it wasn't as good as the last time I went. I caught a sunfish and almost caught a little LM bass. I was happy to actually see a bass hanging around that area and this one fella told me that this wasn't the spot to fish for bass and it is better to fish north of the pond where the weed beds are. So we left and tried it out until I saw a sign. The sign said No fishing for bass and pike due to the lack of population. It also stated about maintaining the population of pan fishes because they were eating bass eggs and etc. Anyways it was a bummer to see that sign but I enjoy catching pan fishes I'm most likely going to go there tomorrow but this time I'm going to bus there and use my little ice fishing rod Scarface : "Say Hello to my little friend!" -> Ice Fishing Rod.
  17. Yea I am hardcore =]! I'm heading back there again =] this time I'm taking pictures and videos =]
  18. Today I decided to bus around Toronto and try out the places I anticipated for many weeks. I finally got to try out Eglinton Flats but it ended up as a big disappointment. The water was so murky and there weren't a lot of spots to fish. Anyways I hoped on the bus and made my way down to High Park and met some cool people and we pretty much caught a lot of pan fishes. I caught about 8 pan fishes and it was non stop biting! I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to bring out their sons/daughters or a friend who wants to fish for the first time. Today was pretty good, oh yeah, I was fishing with my ice fishing rod so I couldn't cast far into the middle of the lake..just at the dock area only. Next time, I'm going to bring my bigger rod and try for some pike and buckets. Good old urban fishing
  19. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to catch bass and how much lbs can it handle with the ice fishing rod. I'm thinking about going to Toronto Island to fish during this week. Please tell me anything about the ice fishing rod and how it can be used for normal fishing instead of just winter fishing. I bought this rod because it's small and it can fit in my bag since I'm an urban fishermen. Oh yeah, the brand is ZEBCO. I also used a 6lb line.
  20. Yeah,I'm going to be there on Monday with my friend, we're both 19 and my friend never fished before.. if anyone is planning to go on Monday, private message me and maybe we could probably meet up somewhere on the island. Most likely I'll get there around like 12..and fish before rush hour. Oh yeah, my friend doesn't have a license..I heard you could buy a one day license at the boat house or something.. can someone confirm this? Anyways I hope the weather is nice and sunny =]
  21. Isn't bow fishing illegal in Canada? I kinda find it cruel..especially if you release it back into the waters..but I guess it's OK down south since carps are invasive species.
  22. My friend and I are planning to head up to the islands next week..I was wondering which baits would work well for catching bass there.I don't want to catch a pike because I never caught one before and I don't know how to hold it..I'm basically a newbie.....I've caught bass on my tubes..but what will definitely catch bass for sure...and I don't use worms... This is what I have in my tackle box. Senkos, Tubes, rapala top water minnow, spinner bait, inline-spinner baits, shads, top water frog, popper, crank bait... im guessing these would work well...I just want to hear from experience of those who actually caught bass there.
  23. Hi everyone! Can anyone recommend me a rod that is less than 20$ and is able to handle bass on a 5" rod with a 6lb test line..I checked out bass pro and I found this.. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...0003000_100-3-2 I was thinking about getting a telescopic rod but I've heard a lot of negative feedbacks on it... I'm just a city boy who lives in Toronto and wants to bus and take the ferry to Toronto Island and at the same time, try to conceal my fishing rod as much as possible. ! HELP ME =]
  24. Our trip to Rice Lake started @ 5pm on the 401 East heading towards a drivers worst scenario of highway traffic. I'm not to sure what happened on the 401 but we decided to take a detour through some quiet roads and eventually made it to the lake around 7:30, which usually takes us 1hr and half. We arrived at Rice Lake near the Chip stop and my brother and I immediately casted our lines from the public port...and I caught my first bass ever within 10 minutes using a tube bait with a Texas rig. I can't really tell how big the bass was but it was pretty nice. After having no luck with no fish bitting for about 1 hr, we decided to head off to the public docking area at the park. My brother casted out his Booyah Spinner Bait and had Fish on with a nice fat bass..that bad boy gave him a nice fight and eventually gave in. After an hour we called it a day. The weather condition was also rough..there was a lot of wind and the water seems to be very choppy and the moon wasn't out..so I'm assuming these conditions are not the condition to be fishing at. Other than that I had a great time..especially catching my first bass for the first time and the first of the season. I have so much more to learn about fishing and I'm looking forward to it all summer
