  1. I use to be a butcher. Was A oil and stone for 30 years.

    Went to the lansky diamond rod.

    I don't have to steel the knife as often.

    This means the edge is not as coarse.

    Which in turn prevent the edge from rolling over, when struck or pull

    over a hard surface. cutting board,bone.

    Put the wrong edge on a knife doesn't help.

    You don't put the same edge on your fillet knife as your buck knife.

     

    The lansky is a good sharpener. But it takes time to get use too.

    I practice on old knifes. It's not hark to destroy a knife.

  2. It sounds like your dad's caddy has slammed off a curb or hit a pot hole very hard.

    The dealer will keep on replacing the bearing until the warranty is up.

    Once the warranty is done they will tell him he needs a Axel,$$$$$$$$$

    your dad should take it to gooodwrench or green & Ross and get them to check it.

    Get a work agreement,Then take it to the dealer to get the job done before it's out of warranty.

  3. I've been looking into the 1977 exp Aggressor.

    this model is the big water.Larger cockpit,small casting deck.

    I have done my research.

    thicker Guage, .125 to must .100 or lower.

    larger rivets.

     

    my questions are.

    is it double rivet?

    does it have twin plating?

    What it ride like in 3 foots, tight together.

     

    All info is much appreciated.

    If you are not up to date, your not in the trade.

     

    And for Bob down the road, with his own money up at risk.

    Also his reputation. Theres a good chance you are going to get better job quality.

     

    Can't say any thing about parts. That your chose.

  5. Over 50% of all cars are not made buy the car manufacturer,but a outsourced parts builder.

    The part is installed by the car builder.

    Most of the problems you will have with your vehicle will be a outsourced part.

    Sum of the problem will be how the vehicle is driven and maintained.

     

    eg; a friends car wore out the left upper control arm.

    The bushing was wore.No problem,pull the control arm and replace with a higher quality bushing.

    A year later it's shot again.

    Friend ask if I can fix it again,But it's so bad he can't bring me the car.

     

    So I'm thinking to myself that I might have kinked the bushing in installation.

    I get over to his house and notice a worn patch of lawn a the curb, he has been

    driving over the curb to make it easier to get out.

    problem solved. Replace bushing and tell to stop going over the curb.

     

    If you only fix it and not solve the problem. Nothing is going to stay fixed.

     

    If you are going through brakes so fast. maybe you should take your foot of the accelerator before

    you get to the stop sign.

     

    All the problems can't be blamed of the tech.

    the training program isn't all that good.

    they follow shop rules.

    To most factors, It come down to how much the tech truly know.

    In technical trades, knowledge come from experience.

  6. When you are running 100 \1 most people wouldn't be using a jug a season.

    Which comes out to less money then a oil & filter change on a 4.

     

    Also hanging a extra 15 to 20lbs on the back of a 16 tinny,would be the same as

    100 to 150lbs off a 19ft Lund proV.

    At the same hp and rpm the heaver engine would take longer to plane and

    long to reach a equal and set speed. Which in turn uses more fuel.

    This will very slightly to props.

    On which ever I get,2 or 4 sroke(a 150 to 200). I'll choose a prop that

    gives me top end and poor hole shot.

  7. A new technology 2 stroke has less unburnt fuel in it's exhaust the a 4 stroke.

    New synthetic oils are biodegradable and have no ash.

    2 stroke have more torque and are lighter,which mean the engine needs not to work as hard.

    In the research I have been doing. A 2 stroke gets about the same fuel consumption.

    So please tell me how a new 2 stroke can pollute worse the a 4 stroke.

    the emission restrictions are higher on 2 stroke then they are on 4.

     

    If you compare old to new technology. Nobody would be driving Japanese cars.

  8. I do good. The back is coming along. It's more of a dull pain,instead of the hot poker in the

    eye pain.

    I started exercises today. First lifted 85 lbs,then 35lbs, took a break for a hour.

    Then lowered 85lbs,then 35lbs. Took a short break. Proceeded to lift 3/8s of a oz for 8 hours.

    With the occasional hoist of 4 to 8lbs. :clapping::clapping::whistling:

  9. If you soldered small gauge wire(18 to 24) like the vid in my shop

    I would make you open the harness and replace the burnt wire.

    On 18 gauge and up. You don't want to use any more then 75 watt soldering iron.

    You will burn the cable making it brittle.If this wire is in a high flex area the wire

    will break just past the solder.

    Also use thinner flux. Acid flux is for other jobs.

    Flux is very inportent. It will help the solder spread without adding heat to the wire.

    Flux will also clean the wire. helping the solder to get a firmer hold.

  10. The Pete is a nice all round reel.

    It will cast a country mile and constructed well enough for trolling.

    Just one thing, the lubes they use is poor.

    I change mine too hot sauce grease and Lucas oil treatment.

     

    The C4 I do not like. Very poor ring and pinion.

    change the bearing to apec 7, still didn't help.

    Something happened to the drag and now the reel is at the bottom of the lake.

     

    the Cardiff wears to fast throwing heavy baits.

    The anti-backlash pawls have a tendency to jam after heavy hook sets.

     

    The C3 all I used them for is Salmon.

     

    The C5 is a better reel in my opinion.

    I think Carbela's or Bass Pro in the states have them on sale.
