  1. Good work Mark, get them hooked early, nothing like having one of your own join you as your fishing partner. Careful she may teach you a thing or two. LOL B
  2. Thanks boys, every little bit of info helps. I appreciate all the tips and welcome any more that you guys are willing to give up. I will give an update when I get back after July 20 Thanks again B
  3. Hi to all on Canada day, it's been a bit since I was last on the board with the new job but as luck my have it I've been invited by my boss up to his annual boys weekend at the cottage. First time I'm going up with them and all knowing my passion for fishing you can guess who's shoulders the responsibility of them catching fish falls on, ya me. Their catch success is pretty sad, 8 guys have a total fish count of 7 fish in 4 years TOTAL. I think I can better that by going to the pet store with them. Joking aside I would love for these newbies to catch a few fish, not really concerned with quality but more so in quantity even if average weight is 2 LB and under. The area the cottage is on is just off Kamaniskeg Lake north of Combermere and were fishing off a pontoon house boat (sad I know), in reading some past posts I read some good things about Green Lake, anyone have any info would be great. You can also PM me. Thanks in advance Brookster
  4. Thanx for the quick response, every little helps - next time your into a few specs send down some pics B
  5. Hi Masterb8t nice area up there. I don't have any of my own lakes up there but would love to try a few. The problem is Forest Tower Road is so long it would take weeks to fish by trial and error. Any suggestion or even if you want to wet a line with a buddy system would be great. My time is a little limited with the new addition to the family but it's all good, I got him watching weekend fishing shows with me. He cracks up when they pull the fish in for the photo opt. Thanks in advance, if it's easier you can PM me. Brookster
  6. Hey gang, it's been a while the new addition to the family has been keeping us busy. He's 12 weeks old, that's the main reason I haven't been out doing much of the goooood stuff lately but after the rain last night I couldn't resist. Brought the 12 footer to work with me seeing that my work place backs on to a feeder creek between Oshawa and Cobourg. (That should be enough of a hint) The fish are everywhere, only fished for an hour. Two chinnys and one steelie on the river bank but virtually every drift was a take down. Get out there while it's hot boys and girl, I think with the fish having to stage for such a long period of time because of the low water this may very well be one of the bigger runs of the season, not to mention come this weekend alot of the fishable water to the north will be closed until April. Good luck to all B
  7. Float fishermen who show up on the river at 9:30 am with a coffee in hand and figure the best free spot is the 6 inches of river bank right in front of you or even worse a string of guys getting their drifts synchronized and one guy in the middle who's timing is total off.

    !

Actually 12Kg is more like 26Lb, I think the problem is he was using the old imagination scale.
  9. Very nice for any day let alone a quick fish. Good work
  10. Looks like a great trip, well done
  11. Gotta love those specs Bunk. I've said it before what they don't have in size they make up in colour. Nice work
  12. Very nice fish, Simcoe still has some of the nicest smallies with in 45 min from T.O
  13. As I always say, good things happen when you least expect it. Well done
  14. Hi Xrap, depending on what size rod your looking at it may not come in 3 pieces. My 15 foot and 12 foot float rods are both 3 pieces but the remaining 3 rods I own are all less than 10 1/2 feet and they are all 2 pieces. Maybe invest in a rod tube or Crappie tire version which is PVC plumbers tubing and two caps for the ends this way you can open the window and let what doesn't fit in the car stick out the window. In respect to line you are correct water colour is something to consider at all times. Going with a 10 foot rod will allow you to drop you line weight to 6 lb and tippet depends on clarity (2lb, 3lb). Hope this helps, good luck
  15. A couple of nice bucketmouths. Well done
