  1. Had to do the driveway this morning.Did half-no problem. Stopped to put in some gas and some oil. Went to start er up and lots of smelly oil smoke. The neighbor started cussing about the smoke wafting over his front and then I shut it off. Did I put in too much oil maybe-I guess around a half liter.

Sounds like you overfilled the crankcase with oil. Most snowblowers only take a liter of of oil to fill it. Did you check the dip-stick :whistling:

Drain some out to the proper level and you should be fine.

Most snowblowers are four-stroke, however, they do make smaller units that are two stroke and do require mixed gas. I own one of each.

    Cheers.

  2. What did you end up finding motion?

Nothing yet. Everyone seems to be out of stock. Not the right time to be looking for one. I can order the 6 man from Costco.ca but I think it is a little big for me.

I'll keep looking an hopefully someone will be selling theirs or I can find a deal somewhere closer to Toronto.

    Thanks.

  3. If your fishing with 4 guys, buy the 6 man hut, you'll be much more comfortable. I bought the Frabill 6 man, and it's got more than enough room for a good party on the ice.

As for where to find one, call Lebarons for the HT 6 man, as Costco is solf out for the year.... Or, order online and ship to a close to border UPS store, and pick it up there.... At this point in the season, pretty much all stores are sold out of the essential ice gear.

The best time of year to buy ice gear is November to December because they'll have what you want in stock.

Thanks. I will try calling Lebarons.

  4. I would highly recommend the Eskimo quickfish pop-ups from what I've seen. The 3 man is really a 2 man I would say so you're probably looking at a bigger model which is the Quick fish 4.

Check Costco as they had some that I believe are Eskimo rebranded but not sure.

Thanks Scugog. Have you seen them recently at any Costco?

  5. Hi guys.

I am looking to take a couple of friends out this upcoming week-end for some perch. I am currently using a Calm Kodiak so fishing with friends is not possible. I would like to purchase a pop-up style of hut that can house 3-4 guys and our gear.

Any recommendations on a make and/or model? I was hoping not to break the bank on this one as it will only be used a couple of times a year.

I did see one at Lebarons made by HT and also one on the Costco website. Does anybody know who may have one in stock?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  6. Tony, no such luxury in my neighborhood :( only thing that we have at hand is what we can find in the bush..... dry and light it

So I cannot share much innovation with you but have to say that you have made a great sandwich warmer B):clapping::thumbsup_anim:

    Jacques

Thanks Jacques. Tried it out today on the ice and it worked great! I also caught a nice whitefish as well. :thumbsup_anim:

  7. Well, ever since I started ice fishing a few years ago, I have always tried to come up with up with little innovations to make the experience out on the ice an enjoyable one. I know I am not the only one, as I have seen many great little ideas that other OFNers have come up with that have helped me as well. It seems that for every problem, there is a solution. Ice fishing seems to be full of problems and bring out the innovators in all of us.

I have found unique ways to pack everything on my ATV (including my auger and minnow bucket) and unique hitch system to make the time required to pack up and move minimal. The latest “problem” was eating a cold (and sometimes frozen) sandwich for lunch. Well I realized that my Mr buddy heater made a great sandwich warmer. With a little thinking and a couple of coat hangers, I came up with this:

It would be nice to see what others have done to solve some other challenges. Thanks for reading. Be safe out there.

    Cheers!

  8. i have the H2Oc

    i love it.

    very simple to operate.

only problem is , i heard they dont make them any more. :dunno:

if you can find one used, grab it!!!!!!!!!

Dan, I find my H2O doesn't like the cold though. I have to keep mine in th e hut if I want to use it when it get really cold. :wallbash:

  9. Geoff, have used a Garmin GP72 for years for exactly what you want to do. I have also just purchased a used Lowrance H2O so I can use my hotmaps from my boat GPS. I have found the Garmin works well, however, I wanted to see the lake depths for new and better ice fishing grounds.

I paid $75.00 for the H2O on Kijiji.

  10. I'm pretty sure I just saw a new lowrance handheld model in the BPS master catalog.

Lowrance make a new Endura line that is similar. I just like the way the H2O looks and works. That and the prices for these new models are up there.
