  1. My only advice for your boat is the following. Most boats are made using anodized aluminum so if you scrub your hull with any sort of abrasive cleaner, the surface will have lost its protective qualities. The more you clean it the more it will need cleaning. Your best bet will be to wash the hull with a good soap then pressure wash it. Some marks will remain but hey, it just shows character. :) This is assuming that your hull is unpainted. The painted parts of the boat can be washed as you would wash your car then waxed with marine grade wax.

Hope this helps. Someone else may chime in with advice here.

Thanks for the advice Roy. It is a painted hull. I'll try the pressure washer and car/boat wash method first.

    Cheers.

  2. I would also change the plugs at the start of next year after your first outing. Everything else you doing sounds good. What I do to clean my boat is wash it real good maybe get the pressure washer on it and get what you can off. Then I will put a compound and use a buffer to take all the dirt off. Then I will put a coat of wax on it's new again.

Thanks. I forgot to mention, I do have a pressure washer available up there as well. I was more concerned with the use of chemicals on the paint.

I'll throw a new set of plugs in next year as well.

    Cheers.

  3. Hey guys. I'm sorry if this has been discussed before but I'm getting ready to pull the boat out of the water at the cottage soon. I am planning to change the lower unit oil, stabilize the gas and replace the oil/filter on the engine. I also plan on fogging the cylinders before storing.

I have never had the boat in the water all season as it was this year. There is a obvious buildup of calcium and algae deposits throughout the aluminum hull and engine. Any tips on cleaning this off safely? I was in the Basspro shops yesterday looking at "boat-bottom" cleaner but I am afraid to use the product. It claims to dis-colour paint. I am assuming it may not be for aluminum hulls???

Thank you in advance for your help.

  4. Nice hut Simon. Looks like you're going to be fishing in style (and comfort) this winter. Cant wait for the ice myself. I was out looking at new huts in Basspro Shops last night. Just got my second sled this year and my son and I will be cruising as soon as its safe! Bring on the cold weather........ :clapping:

  5. I was going to look at the detailed election results but I'm just consumed at the thought of our 14% revenue drop because skip hasn't posted in 22 hours.

Hey Roy, giv'em a break. They were still working on loading the 2'X4' tackle box back on the truck.......... :whistling:

  6. Never used one, but they've been around a while. The Simcoe board seemed spammed with respect to the Slammer by a couple of users last season, so I'd imagine you can find them in the tackle shops in that area.

Are you referring to the old "Quickdraw". There was quite the heated discussion on the Simcoe board about this last year. I wouldn't use it myself, but thats just my opinion.

    Cheers

  7. Here's my take (from a traffic guys) people in the east end of york region drive with blinders, have no spacial recognition and are ignorant to the traffic laws (ignorant in the true sense of not knowing). In the west end, the drivers are aggressive, me first, selfish and don't care. I hardly go to georgina to write tickets. If I want to write a lot of tickets I go straight to vaughan because no one cares. The number of people that tell me that they don't have to stop at a stop sign because nothing is coming or a red light because they are turning right is astounding

You must be referring to a "Woodbridge stop" That’s when the guy (or gal) feels that slowing down and looking to make sure no one is coming constitutes a full stop. Unfortunately I live just off Rutherford at 27. I also have three young drivers and Rutherford road scares the heck out of me. Major Mac from Islington to Weston is another scary road, especially at night.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll pass it on to the family.

    Cheers.

  8. I say call up Vito and the "boys" to pay him a visit. I'm sure they can make him an offer he can't refuse :whistling:

Seriously, it's a shame that contractors have to behave like that way. How does he sleep at night! I would hope he comes to his senses but, to help, a letter from a lawyer may help.

    Good luck Tony.

    Cheers.

  9. I feel your pain Mike. I was selling a 2008 travel trailer worth 20K and I put up a "reasonable offer" comment. I had one guy offer me $1500.00. I snapped. I asked him if he new the value of the item and his reply was " I just wanted to start at $1500.00 and work my way up".

  10. Hey Chris, hang in there. I gave up fishing for over 10 year after I was first married to spend more time with my family. They are only young once and that was my priority at that time. Funny thing happened though, my son loves fishing now more that I did at his age and my oldest daughters still love to pick up a rod when we are up at our cottage.

Take care of your family. You are yonge and have may years of fishing ahead of you if you choose to "come back".

    Cheers.

  11. Darn hackers! Just found out our business phone system was hacked by long distance thieves. They made 4 hours worth of call to Nicaragua so Bell shut it down. Apparently they hack though your voice mail system so we had to change all the passwords. That just sucks!

  12. congrat to your son, he will love it there. When will he start?

Thanks. He actually starts the first week in October and the store doesn't officially open until the end of November. We are both looking forward to the official opening. I'll try and pass on any information on what they will be carrying and when they actually will be open.

  13. Good for him!! Further to what Lew said about JB's, Johnny Morris, the founder of BPS was amazed at Brian's store when he came up here prior to the Vaughan store opening. I think the smaller guys that have lots of stock on the shelf and provide good advice will still be around for many years to come.

Thanks. Agreed that JB's is a good store that we shop at as well. It will be interesting to see what Sail will stock in the way of fishing equipment.
