  1. hey everyone...myself and my buddy are planning on goung to lake couchinching for the frist time in 2 weeks for 2 days. I was just wondering if anyone can help out with any info the have about the lake? we where can launch our smaller boat (12 ft), what fish can we expect to find and where to go?

thanks for any info or advice you may have!

    Where are you staying?

  2. I think we'll get the number of boats out. It's really important to get these kids out fishing, and I'm surprised by the lack of support. I've been offering my boat for the past 6 years now, and will continue to do so. Great program.

As I said, I'm offering up my boat (and time) for this great cause. Let's face it, the kids are our future. I know you were a junior not long ago and certainly benefited from others helping out. Nice to see you return the favour.

My son (fishman2202) will be posting a request for boats on this forum. I hope some OFC members can help them prevent the cancellation of the qualifier next Sunday.

    Cheers.

  3. Hey Steve. Too bad you didn’t repeat yesterday in the Juniors Mentor tournament out in Gloucester! LOL. Seriously though, thank-you for offering your boat, your time and your knowledge to the boys. It means a great deal these juniors (including my son).

It’s too bad that the Juniors may miss next week’s qualifier due to lack of boats. Let’s hope some others will step up to the plate and offer their help. (I've offered mine to help)

    Thanks again!

  4. I've got that same motor but have never experienced that moisture problem but Motion I'd sure be interested in hearing the cause once you get it figured out .

You say you keep it under the boat cover, any chance it could be condensation ??

I doubt it. Everything else under the cover seems dry. It's also more noticeable once pulled back from being in the water. Great motor other that thhe moisture issue.

  5. Hi all. I have a small issue with a Minn Kota Fortrex 80 bow mounted trolling motor. I installed it late last year and have now found that it "leaks" from the tubing that houses the control cables. It is causing a rust coloured stain on my deck. The boat is covered with a mooring cover so I don’t think its rain related. Water somehow is making it up to the head and it is coming out the cable cover.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Any ideas on fixing this? I am assuming there is a seal gone somewhere but cant be sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  6. don't be to quick to say your okay at 11 am all it takes is one accident and everything is backed up. If you take the Allen to Bathurst route, if you go just east of Bathurst you hit Spadina which goes right down to the harbour front to but its kind of a nice drive. You can see Castle Lowma?? (sp).

As I said............You SHOULD be ok. I'll agree an accident or unscheduled road work can change things quickly. Maybe TJ should drive to Yorkdale Mall and take the TTC.

  7. Hey Dave, it was great meeting you out on the water as well. My son Alexander(fishman2202) and I had a great time on Saturday. Non-stop action from the time we got there. It was funny seeing him catch those jumbos on a bare jigheads after we ran out of our minnows!!!

Thanks for the picture of us on our boat. That’s one of the best picture of the boat if seen. I'm stuck in the city this week-end so I won’t be out there again. Oh well, I guess I'll have to make time in the next few week-ends to get back out on the water.

  8. So I went down to the Sportsman show yesterday with my son. I like the new digs. Lots of great seminars and some good deals if you look for them.

I was after a new rod and reel combo and lucked into a great deal for the new Shimano Stradic 2500 CI4F Spinning Reel. After talking to the Shimano guys, I found that Lebarons had the reel on sale for $190.00 + tax. That was a super deal compared to $240.00 + tax at a few other booths.

I matched it up with a Cumara 6'8" MH Fast Action rod. I found it at Natural Sport for $200.00 taxes in!

I cant wait to try it out on opening day for bass. Come on June.......................

So, any other deals out there?????

  9. Hey Scugog, I bought my son a 12 ft jon boat from BPS. It was cheap and very light. I added a 4 hp Yamaha 4 stroke (used) and he has enjoyed it immensely. We have a place in Lagoon City and its an excellent boat for the lagoons. I think the jon boats are on sale now at BPS. Hope this helps.

  10. I was there yesterday as well. New digs look good. I ended up with a great deal for a new outfit. I got a Shimano Cumara 6'8" rod from Natural Sports and the new Shimano Stratic 2500 at Lebarons. Both were a steal at under $200.00!

I think I got the last Stratic at Lebaron. Everyone else had them at $240.00 + tax. Lebarons had it at $190.00 + tax. The rod was originally $300.00 down to $200.00 taxes in!

I cant wait for Bass season to try this new puppy out.

  11. Are you referring to the old Sandercock's Camp ?

When Pat and Bob Smith owned Sandercock's they probably made a good buck but then they rented cottages, camping sites, seasonal trailer sites, ran the store and food services (take-out only)...and sold a bit of tackle and bait...rented out boats and motors and dockage spaces...plus charged launching fees...

If they relied on the food end only they would have starved to death...mind you the egg, ham, and cheese on an english muffin w/coffee was a good breakfast some mornings and their burger and fries made for a good lunch...We used to buy the odd large order of french fries to go along with whatever we were making on our own BBQs at my son and bro-in-laws' trailers...

After Bob died, Pat sold the place and things stayed the same until the new owner had to sell...The next owners gave everybody with trailers 2 week notice to vacate the premises...

Last I saw of the camp it looked like a disaster zone so unless things have greatly improved I wouldn't be making use of any part of it...Have you been down to take a look-see ???

Hey Beans, you're bringing back fond memories of Sandercock's. Remember the "yellow" cottages? Some of my best Walleye fishing was on Rice Lake via Sandercock's. I was saddened to hear the news of Bob passing away.

My kids and I still miss the great times we had there. They all caught their first fish there. WOW! Just memories now.
