  1. Better a hot dog then a bbq chicken wing lol.

By now i thought you would have learned you lesson, the second you grab some food your alarm will go off. Its just the way it is for you.

How did you guys make out?

I kept the stats and just sent it off to MJL, he should be compiling a report sometime soon.

  2. Were they paying more attention to barbecuing and eating than fishing. I spent a little time with one of them and found out why all those hitech thingies are necessary. One can't be cooking and eating obsessively and still pay attention to carp nibbles. It's real hard to set a hook with yer fingers all slippery from chicken grease. The buzzers et al are all that saves them from skunks. ;)

:D I learned my lesson after that ... now I won't eat anything that's greasy, with hot dogs, I could just toss them anywhere and fight my fish haha.

It was a pleasure meeting/fishing with you Beans, I actually got a fish right after you drove off and we got about 3-4 fish within the next 45min ... Enjoyed your stories especially when the fishing was pretty slow in the morning ... I was just a little bit zoned out as I didn't get a chance to rest during the night because of all the action :P

Hopefully we can do it again soon! I got home not too long ago and I just want my bed now.

  3. Hey OFC,

I'm heading west with the family for the upcoming weekend and I'm hoping someone who has done something similar can let me know where/what is worthwhile to visit. There wouldn't be much fishing time as I'm with the whole family. As of now, we plan to visit Point Pelee National Park, spend a day on Pelee Island. Of course we'll go over to states side for BPS and prime outlet for the ladies.

Am I missing anything here? I will try to squeeze in a few hours of fishing I guess, any "must-fish" areas?

    Thank you once again!

  4. thanks for the heads up

I was at my local CTC yesterday (shepperd/leslie) and they also have the shimano bob izumi sig. series on sale for $40 (they usually sell them for $80). Personally that's my favourite rod for bass/pike and i have one of each spinning/baitcasting version. I haven't seen them go cheaper than $40 and IMO it's a decent rod for the money.

Too bad they only had 5'6UL and a 6'0M left, i was looking for a 7'0MH.

  5. Hey OFC,

I'll be going up to a friend's cottage this weekend located at Port Carling. I believe it's between Lake Muskoka and Lake Rosseau. I will be towing my boat up (14' tinny) ... plan to target anything that swims and just hoping if someone can give me some tips on the hot baits around the area. I will try to stay in sheltered area as my boat isn't deep V and prefer not to travel too far from the cottage/onto the big lake.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. if you know what you're doing, and you are familiar with what different new/used packages/motors/boats are usually priced at, I don't see why not.

There are many people out there who knows nothing about boat maintenance and doesn't make any effort to learn about it even if they do own a boat. They might sell their boat/motor etc and lower the price because of minor problems, who knows, maybe you just needed to change the plugs for it.

Of course that's just my thoughts, never have any experience in doing that.

  7. I can't answer about the battery question... but if you're paying for a new electric and possibly new battery, have you thought about getting a gas motor?

I have seen quite a number of motors under $500 for 6-9hp. That would be perfect for your boat, while you can still use your Eudura 30 to navigate around the fishing holes without spooking the fish.

  8. If anything I think it's because of those 2 minutes, you rarely hear that a fish dies because of a prolonged fight other than for muskies.

If you planned on release the fish, it only takes 5 seconds to remove the hook, and another 10 seconds to take a picture. Even if you double that and it's still only 30 seconds :S
